Chapter 27: Then, I’ll Sleep Here Tonight
byChapter 27: Then I'll Just Sleep Here Tonight
"!"
Qin Yan took a deep breath, struggling to keep his cool.
He yanked Su Zhiyu off him, remembering that he still had spare suppressants in his room.
Just as he turned to go back and get them, he was seized from behind in a tight hug.
"Su..."
Qin Yan turned around, and Su Zhiyu looked at him, his eyes blazing with lust. Qin Yan's heart lurched violently.
He stared at the boy's flushed lips, his Adam's apple bobbing. The two pheromones twisted together, merging until you couldn't tell one from the other. Beneath the heavy veil of night, a secret seed took root and sprouted, growing harder and harder to suppress.
Qin Yan looped his arms around Su Zhiyu's waist, boxing him in between himself and the table. The two stared into each other's eyes.
An Omega in heat was desperate for comfort; an Alpha whose heart was racing could barely hold himself back.
He wanted to.
He wanted to claim him.
No.
Su Zhiyu's breathing turned ragged, and he stammered out a few more syllables: "Sup... suppress... patch..."
Suppressant patch?
If he put on the suppressant patch, would Su Zhiyu's out-of-control state go back to normal, back to that cold, aloof demeanor?
He so badly wanted to rip apart that composed facade, to see the real him beneath the mask—was it just as cold, or would it... respond with heat?
"............"
"I'm here."
The second Qin Yan said those two words, he was shocked to hear how hoarse his voice was, as if it were broadcasting the deepest desires buried in his heart.
"Su Zhiyu, I'm an Alpha. Do you wanna taste my pheromone?"
After saying that, Qin Yan seemed to have made up his mind—or maybe it was the alcohol talking—he momentarily forgot fear and logic, grabbed the back of Su Zhiyu's neck, and dipped his head to kiss him.
The mellow rum wrapped around the scattered white peach, sweeping every drop of peach juice into the wine's aroma, brewing a vat of white peach-flavored liquor.
Qin Yan reached back and shut the door, cutting off the outside light and plunging the room into total darkness.
The two of them tangled together, step by step, until they tumbled onto the bed.
Thud.
Qin Yan smacked his head hard against the headboard with a dull thud. Their teeth clacked together, and they both sucked in a sharp breath at the same time.
That impact jolted Su Zhiyu back to his senses a little.
He stared at Qin Yan in shock, his expression still dazed, like he didn't know why he was lying on top of Qin Yan, and... and...
Qin Yan just hissed, then casually pulled Su Zhiyu back, ready to keep going.
"Qin Yan..."
"!" Damn it.
Hearing Su Zhiyu's tone, clearly off in his breathing, he must have snapped back to reality. Qin Yan himself was also jolted into clarity in an instant.
Neither of them moved, frozen in that awkward position.
Qin Yan braced himself and spoke: "You... you were really struggling just now, I was just trying to help. Are you feeling better? If you're okay, I'll go get a doctor..."
"No need."
"Hm?"
Su Zhiyu let out a heavy breath, silently crawled off to lie on his side, his chest still rising and falling.
Qin Yan sat up, nervous, but his voice steady: "Are you... alright?"
But if you listened closely, there was an undeniable tremor he couldn't hide, as if he were holding back something heavy, his breathing growing hotter by the second.
Su Zhiyu clutched the edge of the blanket, tears welling in the corners of his eyes from the unbearable waves of heat. The feeling of a million ants gnawing at his bones tormented not just the man beside him, but himself too, right in the middle of his heat.
His slender fingers slowly clenched. At some memory, he let out a self-deprecating snort and fell silent.
Qin Yan caught his breath, but didn't push further. He rolled over, got out of bed, and walked straight out.
Su Zhiyu pressed his lips together, slowly lifting his head to look at the door. It was shut. He... just left like that?
Knowing what he was going through, he just walked away like that?
And... he'd definitely put suppressant patches in his room. Why were they all gone? Why?
Did Qin Yan do this too?
Su Zhiyu dug his nails into his palm to stay lucid. Even though he didn't know when Qin Yan had come over, he absolutely could not lose consciousness and mess up again.
Even if he had to tough it out—it was just one heat cycle. He could handle it.
Su Zhiyu trembled as he hugged the blanket, biting his lip hard, trying to use pain to drown out the primal urges of his body.
Just then, hurried footsteps echoed from outside the door.
Qin Yan pushed the door open and entered.
Su Zhiyu's body tensed. Before he could react, Qin Yan slammed the door shut and was on the bed in three quick strides.
"You..." Su Zhiyu stared at Qin Yan in alarm. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Suppressant patch."
Qin Yan tersely spat out three words, forcefully pinned Su Zhiyu's hands down, flipped him over, and slapped on the patch.
This was the one he usually used himself.
The young master only used the best of the best, so the effects were top-notch.
"How is it? Feeling any better?"
Qin Yan asked.
Su Zhiyu parted his lips, not knowing what to say. Every heat cycle used to be a nightmare for him, but ever since Qin Yan had suddenly tried to mark him last time, everything had been slowly changing.
Had he changed?
"Still feeling unwell?" Qin Yan knelt beside him, brows furrowed. "Then I'll go call a doctor."
"No."
Su Zhiyu grabbed his hand.
Qin Yan froze, lowering his head to look at Su Zhiyu, surprised and flattered.
The room was pitch black, and Su Zhiyu couldn't actually see the other's expression, but he could faintly sense the man's joy and excitement.
Was that excitement?
He seemed... really happy?
Su Zhiyu hesitated, slowly pulling his hand back, and sure enough, he heard the other man let out a faint sigh, as if he were disappointed.
This discovery made Su Zhiyu forget his own question, too stunned to speak.
Seeing that he remained silent, Qin Yan asked again, "So, are you still feeling bad? Do you really not need a doctor?"
Su Zhiyu was snapped back to reality. His ears reddened without him realizing it, and he turned his head slightly. "No need."
In the darkness, it was easy to let his guard down, and unlike the daytime, when he was aloof and wary, it also softened his resistance, and even stirred up feelings that surprised even him.
Qin Yan relaxed, his eyes shifting, and simply lay down, propping himself up on one arm next to the young man, smiling. "Then, I'll sleep here tonight."
"?"
"I was woken up by you, and forced to stop halfway... ahem, I drank a glass of cold water, and now I'm freezing all over. My blanket's gone cold. Do you want your dear young master to catch a cold?"
Qin Yan reached a hand to Su Zhiyu's waist, and while he wasn't paying attention, pulled him into his arms.
Su Zhiyu was startled and instinctively tried to pry his hand away, but touched a patch of icy coldness.
"Did you feel it? Isn't it cold? Still want to kick me out?"
The pitiful whining in his ear made Su Zhiyu's already feverish ears even redder. Almost on a strange impulse, he chose to say nothing, and shifted a bit of the blanket toward Qin Yan.
