Chapter 106: Do I Look Like That Kind of Person
by 风寄明月Chapter 106: Do I Look Like That Kind of Guy?
Coming back to 207 just felt different.
Chu Lanting finally let his guard down. The day after handing out the stuff he'd brought back from the main planet, the first thing he did was return to the classroom where he used to teach.
The classroom was small. The adults were all at the factory during the day, and the kids were either home or helping out there too, so the place was quiet and empty.
The desks and chairs were lined up neat and tidy, and the room had been swept clean.
When he pushed the door open, all he saw was fine dust floating in the sunbeams.
Familiar place, familiar vibe.
Standing in the doorway, Chu Lanting could already picture the days he'd spent teaching those kids.
"A new teacher's already been found. Not as good as you, but at least he's not some half-assed amateur."
A familiar voice sounded from behind him.
Chu Lanting turned, surprised, and saw Feng Xingyun leaning against the wall a short ways off.
When he saw Chu Lanting turn, Feng Xingyun pushed off the wall and strolled over.
"So you actually came back," he said, giving him a once-over. "What, no food on the main planet? You look skinnier."
Feng Xingyun frowned, pressed his lips together, and was about to say something else when Chu Lanting beat him to it.
"I didn't lose weight. I actually put on a little."
Knowing Feng Xingyun was about to hit him with a "You should've just come with me back then," Chu Lanting cut him off.
He had put on a little weight, but barely any.
On the main planet, Pei Du hadn't skimped on food or clothes. It was just that he'd had stuff on his mind—no appetite, bad sleep—so he looked a little rough.
But now that everything was settled, he'd bounce back soon enough.
"You said you already found a teacher..."
"Yeah, it's Yan Que's younger brother. A bookworm, but more than capable of teaching a bunch of kids."
Chu Lanting didn't know much about what was going on between Yan Que and Feng Xingyun.
He'd only managed to piece together a half-story from Uncle Tian, Xiaoyuan, and Feng Pei.
Feng Xingyun used to live in the rich part of town. Later, betrayed by his father's friend, he lost both parents in a single night. He ran off with his little sister, but the bastards found them.
Then, for whatever reason, Yan Que saved the two of them, and that's how things ended up the way they are now.
Chu Lanting had only met Yan Que once. The guy was supposedly a factory director, but there was clearly more to him than that.
The guy had an aura that wasn't normal.
And the way he looked at Feng Xingyun—like a predator eyeing its prey—the possessiveness was anything but subtle.
Catching Chu Lanting checking him out, Feng Xingyun raised an eyebrow, grabbed his arm, and backed him into the wall.
"What's this? Finally seeing how good I've got it? I told you A Du wasn't shit. If you'd come with me, you'd be living the high life every damn day."
"So, wanna reconsider? It's not too late."
Only Feng Xingyun could get away with teasing him like that.
Chu Lanting's eyes glinted, and he parted his lips: "Then what about Director Yan Que..."
Before he could finish, the light in Feng Xingyun's eyes went out.
"Why the hell are you bringing him up? Total buzzkill!"
With that, he instinctively put a hand on his hip.
Realizing what he'd just done, his face went pale.
"Alright, you've come back to visit. Seeing that A Du treats you right, I can rest easy. I'll have someone figure out your back pay and send it over. Since you're so into him, just go live your life with him."
The second Yan Que came up, Feng Xingyun looked like he was being chased by a monster—he turned and bolted.
But then he thought of something. After two steps, he stopped, turned around, and said in a low voice.
"Don't tell Yan Que I was here."
Chu Lanting couldn't help but laugh. After getting glared at, he stifled his grin and nodded.
Feng Xingyun hightailed it out of there.
As he was leaving through the main gate, he seemed to run into someone. Chu Lanting only caught a glimpse of two figures pausing at the door, then overlapping, then going their separate ways.
When Pei Du walked in, he spotted Chu Lanting from way off, standing at the classroom door and laughing.
Even as Pei Du got closer, the smile didn't leave his face.
It was rare to see him so animated. Pei Du stopped, raised his wrist, and—click.
"Hm?"
Hearing the faint sound, Chu Lanting's smile faded as he looked up just in time to see Pei Du lower his arm.
"What did Feng Xingyun say? You're grinning like an idiot."
Pei Du, who'd just snapped a sneaky photo, didn't look guilty at all.
He walked over, looked down at him, and—maybe catching the mood—a hint of a smile crept into his dark eyes.
Chu Lanting filled him in on what Feng Xingyun had said.
Chu Lanting let himself be pulled into the classroom and sat down, laughing with his eyes curved into crescents. "How come in just half a month, Supervisor Feng's gotten so scared of Director Yan Que?"
Pei Du sat down next to him, listening while he fiddled with Chu Lanting's hand.
Chu Lanting's hands weren't all that soft. He'd worked year-round to make a living, so his palms were covered in a thin layer of calluses.
But his hands were nice-looking—well-shaped, nails trimmed neat, a healthy pink. They looked slim, but they were actually pretty strong.
Like when he was teaching him how to write.
Or in bed, when Pei Du pushed him too far.
These hands always hold his, bringing him an experience he's never had before.
"He's not afraid of Yan Que, but he can't stand how he's always punishing him."
"What?"
Chu Lanting didn't catch on at first, a hint of confusion flickering across his handsome face.
Once it clicked, a flush immediately rose on his fair face.
He stumbled over his words, and it took him a long while before he could get out a complete sentence: "Th-That's impossible, the director doesn't seem like that kind of person..."
Yan Que had that stern, old-school official look, his whole demeanor steady and composed—not the type to mess around.
Hearing that, Pei Du grabbed his hand, bent down, and pressed a kiss to his palm.
Seeing him curl his fingers from the ticklish feeling, he said in a low voice: "That kind of person? What kind is that? Do I look like that to you?"
"..."
"Yan Que isn't celibate; he just hasn't met the one he wants. Same for me."
This was the first time since getting his memories back that Pei Du openly faced his desires in front of Chu Lanting.
The two were already perfectly in tune, mind and body.
Yet when Chu Lanting heard those words, not only did his face grow redder, but even his ears turned crimson enough to drip blood.
In the quiet classroom, the temperature unknowingly began to rise.
Chu Lanting watched the face drawing closer and closer, and when their noses touched, he immediately closed his eyes.
Just as he braced himself for something intense, a soft warmth brushed against his lips and then was gone in an instant.
"Lanting, you'll stay by my side forever, won't you?"
