    Chapter 103: Picking a Godmother

    At Jin Yu's Motel.

Since Jinjia Village was flooded, Jin Yu's mother had nowhere to go, so she moved into Jin Yu's small motel.

She was illiterate and unaware of room rates; as long as someone paid for a stay, it didn't matter to her if it was a hundred or two hundred or even just ten or eight dollars, leading her to inadvertently boost the motel's business.

"Mom, I'm back!" Jin Yu rushed into the house as soon as she got out of the car.

Upon seeing her mother, she was so moved that she was on the verge of tears, "You've been working hard these past few days."

"It's not hard at all. Living here is much better than in the countryside. There’s no need to do any fieldwork, and we get to earn money every day." Her mother opened the drawer, "Look, daughter, how much money I've made for you."

The drawer was filled with banknotes, including hundred, ten, and five-dollar bills, adding up to at least a few thousand dollars.

Seeing such money, Jin Yu couldn't help but cry.

Since starting the motel business, when had she ever received five or ten-dollar bills? She thought her mother had been cheated by the customers.

Jin's mother said, "Why cry? Don't look at some people giving less money; there are also those who give more. Some customers come to sleep for just a little while and leave a thousand dollars. Oh, I never knew making money in the city was this easy. Back in the village, I worked hard raising pigs, back aching and waist sore, only to earn in months what you make in a day, not to mention after deducting the cost of feed, it's still not as much as what you earn in a day."

Jin Yu immediately laughed through her tears, "Mom, you're really good at this. Then from now on, you run the motel. You be the boss, and I'll be your employee."

"No problem, I'll make sure it thrives," Jin's mother said, patting her chest.

Leng Xi Yue, holding her forehead and accompanied by six adorable little ones, slowly walked into the motel.

Seeing Leng Xi Yue's face covered in blood, Jin's mother asked in panic, "What happened? How did you get injured like this?"

"I bumped into something by accident, it's okay, no need to worry, Auntie," Leng Xi Yue managed a weak smile.

"Don't call me Auntie, call me Mom," Jin Yu pleaded with her mother, "Mom, can you accept Xi Yue as your goddaughter?"

Jin's mother was pleasantly surprised, "Ah? Me, a countrywoman, to take a city girl as my goddaughter? Would her parents agree?"

"I don't have parents," Leng Xi Yue said, somewhat sadly.

Jin Yu said, "She grew up in an orphanage. Mom, Xi Yue has no family; let's be her family."

"Ah, alright!" Jin's mother's maternal instincts overflowed, "Xi Yue, as long as you don't mind, I'll take you as my daughter. From today on, these little girls are all my granddaughters."

Leng Xi Yue, deeply moved, immediately told the children, "Quick, call her Grandma."

"Grandma!" the six adorable little ones shouted in unison, their voices sweet and melodious.

"Oh!" Jin's mother slapped her thigh, embarrassed, "Grandma didn't prepare any red envelopes. Wait, I'll make red envelopes right now."

"No need, Mom, your thoughtfulness is enough," Leng Xi Yue said, calling her 'Mom' for the first time, making Jin's mother tear up with emotion.

"This is wonderful. At my old age, I've gained a daughter and suddenly got six granddaughters!"

Seeing Leng Xi Yue still holding her forehead, she quickly said, "Ay, quickly take care of your sister's wound, I'll look after the children."

"Oh, I'll get the gauze," Jin Yu went to her room.

Unable to find red envelopes or red paper, Jin's mother just took six hundred-dollar bills from the drawer, "Here, take one each, save it to buy candy."

    "Thank you, Grandma!"

    "Thank you, Grandma..."

The six adorable little ones thanked her in turn, then handed the money to Leng Xi Yue.

"Mommy, keep this for me," Da Ya was the first to hand it over.

"Mommy, this is mine," Er Ya followed suit.

    San Ya: "And mine!"

    Wu Ya: "Mine too!"

    Si Ya: "Me!"

    Liu Ya: "Me!"

"My daughter has some too!" Jin's mother handed six hundred-dollar bills to Leng Xi Yue.

"Mom, I don't need the money, you've already spent enough on the children..."

"Take it if you don't mind the small amount!" Jin's mother insisted, pushing the money into Leng Xi Yue's hands.
