Chapter 350
by 宁世久Chapter 350
He opened His eyes, mirrors of silver.
A deep, dark humanoid figure appeared in the universe, but this universe was too cramped for Him. He had to curl up, resting His chin on His knees, to exist within this confined space.
A kaleidoscope of halos encircled Him, outlining a form more akin to that of a woman. The flowing energy occasionally took the shape of armor, and at His will, transformed into various weapons—swords, hammers, and more.
Equally profound and dark wings draped from His back, their indiscernible feathers stirring, sometimes raising a snowstorm, or bringing forth a bolt of lightning.
He paid no mind; neither the snow nor the thunder could affect Him. What mattered more were the two humans not far away, and the countless gems and minerals they were protecting with all their might.
Those were...
"Calculation error," a voice echoed from the depths of His being. "Even in the form of gems and minerals, they cannot survive the final and new explosion."
"It doesn't matter," another voice replied. "It's miraculous, now we have more means."
Golden Hammer and Mirror Pupil had once collaborated on methods to glimpse the future.
It was a vast computational model, gathering all information from the mortal world to predict the next second.
Even deities could only achieve this much. But at this moment, those silver eyes gazed into the distance, seeing into the future.
The future, new universe.
Right there, in His eyes.
His fingers twitched, and a honey-colored radiance suddenly enveloped the nearby humans and the gems and minerals.
Metals and gems floated, transforming under His will. Black iron as the base, coated with gold, adorned with rubies, yellow diamonds, jet, amber, and pearls, a crown formed in His palm.
He extended His other hand, allowing the remaining two humans to climb onto His palm.
The authority of the Geljiang, the authority of the Golden Hammer, and the authority of the Mirror Pupil intertwined, giving rise to new possibilities.
Using Himself as a mirror, completing the symmetry on the timeline, He transported the humans and the crown from the minutes before the old universe's destruction to the seconds after the new universe's birth.
At that time, the new universe was still rapidly expanding due to the big bang, but the apostles and the gemstone-form humans could already survive in such an environment.
However, the so-called new universe and future did not actually exist.
It didn't matter. Closing and then opening His palm, He stood up, His head immediately colliding with the boundary of the universe. He felt no pain, focusing His mind, and began His work, His mission.
He spread His arms, placing His hands at the ends of the universe; He straightened His legs, and the boundaries of the universe, which He stepped on, ceased to contract inward; He flapped His wings, filling even this universe smaller than 0.0000042 light-years in radius.
There was no more space for Him to move within the entire universe, yet He continued to grow, to expand.
Voices echoed again in His heart, one saying: "Eight."
Another voice followed: "Seven."
One voice after another, they whispered softly:
"Six."
"Five."
"Four."
"Three."
"Two."
"One—"
He crossed the boundary.
Light erupted.
***
This was Lin's first day of crossing over.
He was completely baffled. He just walked into the teaching building, tidied his hair in front of the mirror, and wasn't hit by a truck. How did he end up crossing over?
And into such a fantastical world.
Into a crime scene in such a fantastical world.
Well, if Lin could barely ignore the first two questions, the last one was pressing.
He didn't just cross into an ordinary crime scene; it seemed he had crossed into a crime scene that was currently under police assault!
Listen to what the police were shouting at the criminals!
"Heretics! Drop your weapons! Stop your spells!"
"Don't resist! The Inquisition has arrived!"
And listen to the criminals' response.
"We're killing the Inquisition!"
"Protesting the Inquisition's interpretation of the gods! This is a struggle for freedom!"
Lin, hiding in a corner, pursed his lips.
He rolled his eyes, scanning the pile of bodies around the altar in the cave, thinking that killing others could never be called freedom.
But what was the interpretation of the gods? It seemed the Inquisition wasn't supposed to do that.
But if not for this, what was she doing?
Avoiding the shadows of spells, Lin, who had hidden in a corner, stopped to think and continued observing the battlefield.
He noticed that the criminals were shouting fiercely, using dazzling spells, but after someone from the police force rushed into the cave, the situation quickly turned in their favor.
This person who had rushed in was a woman, wearing a black leather uniform coat, with a pair of small, white animal ears atop her head. Her short hair, illuminated by the spell's light, shimmered with a warm, pearl-like glow.
Lin heard other police officers call her "Judge Xiao Yu." If it weren't for her wielding some invisible weapon, ruthlessly taking down one opponent after another, Lin might have found her cute.
It was also because of Judge Xiao Yu's entry into the battle that the destructive power on both sides escalated instantly.
Lin, nearly hit by an attack, had nowhere else to retreat in the corner. He wasn't unwilling to join the police, but being near the altar, he couldn't find a way to cross the battlefield.
If he kept hiding, he would end up among the piles of bodies...
Lin found himself calmer than he imagined, though his back was tingling, he slowly moved closer to the bodies.
But he was just a junior high school student, after all. When the cave suddenly shook, Lin, trying to sneak around, fell directly onto several bodies.
Aaaaaaaaah!
His mind went blank, and the only reaction he could muster was to suppress his goosebumps and not get up from the bodies.
The criminals ran past him, and Lin, overwhelmed by the pungent smell, dared not move, pretending to be a corpse.
But his school uniform was probably very conspicuous among these bodies... There was nothing he could do but pray for the favor of Lady Luck.
Lin trembled as he slowed his breathing and closed his eyes.
But not long after, he opened his eyes again and looked down.
Below, under several bodies, there seemed to be another living person.
Lin didn't realize how absurd it was to judge whether a target he couldn't see was dead or alive through several bodies. Nor did he realize why he could understand the unfamiliar language used by the police and the criminals.
Lin only felt the faint consciousness of the living person below and noticed that this consciousness was rapidly fading.
No! The police are here to save you; just hold on a little longer!
Lin shouted in his heart, and the next second, as if hearing his voice, the consciousness of the person below became a bit more active.
At the same time, the alarm on Judge Xiao Yu's waist also activated.
The female officer, holding one criminal in each hand, stopped in panic, looking down at the flashing alarm, bewildered: "Divine essence reaction... What a joke, can these unprofessional cultists really summon a pseudo-god?"
"Judge Xiao Yu?" the assisting police asked, looking even more confused at the alarm.
Judge Xiao Yu suddenly came to her senses, ignoring the fleeing cultists, and turned to shout, "Retreat! Retreat! A special disaster may occur! The Court has been informed; we must retreat! Leave the rest to higher-ups!"
The assisting police officers' faces changed dramatically.
A man who seemed to be the leader asked, "When will the higher-ups arrive?"
Judge Xiao Yu pushed them out directly.
Lin, who had just climbed up and hadn't had time to call out, only saw her disappear at the cave entrance, leaving behind her voice.
She said, "Immediately."
Immediately? You've got to be kidding me?
Lin wanted to wipe his face, but his clothes were already covered in blood. Glancing at his already filthy school uniform, he took a deep breath, turned around, knelt down, and tried to dig out the living person below.
He pushed the topmost body aside and was about to push the second one when a loud boom sounded overhead.
?!
Shaken by the tremor, Lin fell again, gritting his teeth and turning over, coughing while trying to fan away the flying dust.
The air quality in this cave couldn't get any worse... Lin thought, raising his head to see what had happened above.
The first thing he saw was a large hole in the cave's ceiling, which had been punched through by something, allowing natural daylight to pour in.
Following the light upward, the sky, not much different from Earth's, filled the entire cave opening, with small clouds peeking out from the edges, looking almost pitifully adorable.
Lin stood there, stunned. Despite having crossed over less than an hour ago, seeing this daylight and sky gave him a sense of long-awaited familiarity.
After staring for who knows how long, he finally snapped out of it due to a movement nearby, looking over in confusion.
A man, inexplicably wearing a white windbreaker in such an environment, had already rescued the living person Lin had intended to dig out.
Blood stained his cuffs and chest, but this didn't make him look disheveled; instead, it made the white appear even whiter.
Just like his snow-white hair and his frosty face.
His pink eyes didn't bring any vitality to the man; even the vibrant color looked lifeless in his gaze.
Facing such a person, Lin didn't dare speak. He only curiously glanced at the feather-like ears, which shouldn't belong to a human, for a moment.
The ear feathers didn't seem to be white; did they have a hint of gray-green at the tips?
For some reason, Lin found this detail important, but then he snapped back to reality as the man approached, nervously thinking about how to greet him.
However, before Lin could decide on his words, the snow-haired man had already extended his hand.
Was he going to help him up? What a kind person.
Lin handed his hand over without hesitation, and then he saw a flash of silver. A shiny handcuff was locked onto Lin's wrist.
Lin: “?”
“You’re under arrest,” the man said.
Huh?
Lin’s eyes widened, and he instinctively protested, “W-wait, these, these victims, they have nothing to do with me! I didn’t do it! I just wandered in by mistake.”
“I know,” the man said softly, “but being associated with an evil deity is itself a crime.”
“An evil deity? What? You’ve got the wrong—”
Click.
The man raised his gun.
With the barrel pressed against his forehead, Lin instinctively fell silent.
He was almost about to raise his hands in surrender, and he truly intended to, but before he could, he saw the man’s expression.
It was far from the coldness he had shown earlier; it was a mix of pain and emotions that Lin couldn’t understand.
Lin’s heart grew heavy. Though he didn’t know this man, he felt a similar pain at that moment.
Bitter poison seemed to flow from his heart, and the chest pain made it hard for Lin to breathe.
As if in sync with Lin’s suffering, the man’s gun moved from Lin’s forehead to his chest.
Seeming to have calmed down from his earlier state, though his eyes were now colder than ever, the man said, “If you insist on knowing your crimes, I can tell you in detail.”
His voice was soft, always soft, as if afraid to disturb something.
The man said softly, “Your crime is that you owe me a large sum of money.”
Clutching his chest, Lin, trembling with fear, “?!!”
With the gun still pointed at him, Lin stood up and shouted, “What kind of joke is this! I don’t even have any money!”
Previous Chapter
This is such an amazing story. I read all the chapters in just a few days. But there are still many things I don’t understand.
Why is Hui Cui so cruel? Why did he point a gun at Lin? Didn’t he recognize him? Or did he forget everything? Why did he say that Lin owed him money? Is this really how one meets their beloved – the one they love with that same powerful fire that was described – after a long separation? I truly don’t understand anything.
I also noticed that from the very beginning of the story, Hui Cui’s personality changed very strongly. It’s as if he stopped being kind, gentle, and loving toward Lin. He became more distant and seems to constantly push Lin away and withdraw from him. This change appeared right after he found out that Lin is a god. But maybe it just seems that way to me.
I really want to see their happy life together. There is too much pain in this story, and I so want to see them go on at least one successful, sweet date… I truly hope there will be another chapter. Thank you so much to the author
Please tell me there’s a continuation 😭💔 where’s the update???
