Chapter 132 Apartment Survival 2
by 轻云淡Chapter 132 Survival in the Apartment (Part 2)
Soon, Su Han finished tidying up and sat down opposite Yang Le, holding her teacup as she casually asked, “What exactly happened? You seem really shaken.”
Yang Le’s face was ghastly pale as she trembled and replied, “I just went out to discuss something with a friend, but while walking, a tall man suddenly charged at me with a knife.”
“It was terrifying,” she said, still shaken. “He came out of nowhere! I was so scared I dropped my room key and didn’t even have time to pick it up!”
Su Han thought to herself, *Is she planning to stay here overnight? Absolutely not.*
So she pretended to sympathize and said, “That’s awful. Once the man chasing you leaves, you should hurry to your friend for help.” She made it clear she had no intention of letting Yang Le stay.
Yang Le nodded obediently. “Yes, I’ll leave soon.” But inwardly, she thought—everything she’d said was made up. There was no man chasing her.
Yet the moment she finished speaking, there was a knock at the door.
Su Han frowned slightly before saying, “Look through the peephole and see if it’s the man who was chasing you.”
Yang Le was reluctant but couldn’t think of a good excuse to refuse. Helpless, she slowly walked to the peephole, glanced outside, and immediately shrieked in fear, her voice trembling. “It’s him! I’d recognize him even if he turned to ashes!”
With that, she darted back to her seat and drank several gulps of tea to calm herself.
Su Han smirked faintly as she also raised her cup, taking a small sip.
Yang Le was overjoyed, thinking, *Just wait—you’ll regret this soon!* But seconds later, a sharp pain shot through her stomach, so intense she nearly blacked out.
Unprepared, Yang Le fell from her chair. After a long moment, she managed to hiss through clenched teeth, “What… is this?”
Su Han coolly replied, “While you were looking through the peephole, I swapped our cups.”
Yang Le, “!!!”
“And as for this cup,” Su Han continued with a smile, “I only faked drinking. My lips touched it, but I didn’t actually swallow anything.”
“Why?” Yang Le forced out through the pain, disbelief in her voice. She couldn’t accept that her scheme had failed.
Su Han coolly glanced at her. “I never believed you from the start.”
“Your behavior yesterday wasn’t about finding reliable allies—it was about hunting for weak targets.”
“And asking *me* for help when being chased? Even stranger. I wasn’t exactly friendly to you yesterday. Normally, you’d turn to someone else, not me.”
“Since your actions made no sense, I could only assume you had ulterior motives.”
Yang Le had thought her act flawless, but in reality, it was full of holes. Furious, she raised her voice. “If you knew I was up to no good, why let me in?”
Su Han rested her chin on her hand, bored. “Being stuck inside is boring. Might as well have some fun.”
*Fun…* Yang Le coughed up blood—whether from the poison or sheer rage was unclear.
“If you scheme to harm others, don’t be surprised when they guard against you. Maybe next life, try being a better person.” With that, Su Han quickly ended her.
In a flash of white light, Yang Le vanished.
Then, with a *clink*, a key labeled “403” fell to the floor.
As expected—the whole chase story about being pursued and dropping her key was a complete lie from start to finish.
Su Han thought for a moment, picked up the key, left her residence, and entered Room 403.
The layout of the studio apartments was identical, so she easily found the cabinet. Opening it, she saw 8 bottles of mineral water and 7 bars of soap.
Checking the fridge, she found 5 prepackaged meals inside.
"Only the second day, and she’s already taken down 2 or 3 people?" Su Han sighed inwardly, thinking that women truly shouldn’t be underestimated. The next second, she happily gathered up all the supplies and brought them back to her own room.
As she closed the door to Room 403, she paused slightly—above the doorplate was written "403," while below it read "Vacant." Her own residence had "404" written above the doorplate, but below it said "Occupied."
Glancing at the neighboring doors, she noticed their plates also said "Occupied." Su Han instantly realized, "If the room’s owner is eliminated, the doorplate gives a hint. That’s quite useful."
She then quickly returned to her room, not lingering in the hallway.
**
Zhong Rui searched the entire apartment building but found neither the building manager nor any spare keys.
"Pondering this, does closing the door really make it impossible for others to break in?" He decided to head back to his room first.
Unexpectedly, he encountered two men in black masks on the way. Without a word, they charged at him with cleavers.
Zhong Rui’s expression turned cold as he kicked the attacker in the stomach, sending him flying.
Though he hadn’t planned to trouble other residents, since someone was foolish enough to provoke him, Zhong Rui had no problem taking care of the threat.
Three minutes later, two white flashes lit up. At the same time, keys hit the ground with a crisp sound.
Zhong Rui casually picked up the keys. One was labeled "320," while the other was marked "Master Key."
Instantly, his eyes went wide.
**
At the same time, Jin Shi was hunting on the fifth floor. Whenever someone stepped out of their room, he would silently approach, swiftly strike, and take them out.
In no time, he had six keys now.
"Six people’s supplies, plus the daily necessities I already have—that’s enough to win the game." With that, he headed to the rooms to claim his prizes.
**
In the hallway, someone covered their mouth and nose with a damp towel before throwing a glass bottle filled with green gas into the first-floor corridor. Once the bottle shattered and the gas leaked out, they hurried away.
Not long after, the green gas spread continuously, gradually drifting to other floors.
**
In Room 312, a five-player alliance had just formed.
Qiu Shuang tossed her master key and smiled. "The game is simple. Let’s finish this quickly."
**
In the office, the room went silent. Everyone stared at the screen, frozen, unsure how to respond.
Taking a deep breath, Li Yue forced himself to stay calm and asked, "How many master keys are there in total?"
A staff member replied, "Three. They appear randomly in the hands of three residents at the start. If a resident is eliminated, the key will drop. Zhong Rui picked up a dropped one, while Qiu Shuang’s was assigned to her at the beginning."
Li Yue rubbed his forehead, feeling a headache building. A ruthless team had obtained the master key, clearly intending to break into rooms and eliminate players one by one. And it was only the second day of the game?!
He deeply regretted throwing 20 wolves in with the sheep, completely throwing off the balance.
"What should we do?" The staff exchanged glances before turning to the manager, waiting for his decision.
Li Yue’s temples throbbed, but there was nothing he could do. The test players were at the pinnacle of skill—they couldn’t possibly set the standard for ordinary players. In the end, he could only say with a dark expression, "Pay attention and watch how the test players plan."
The staff nodded.
**
In the game, after obtaining the master key, Zhong Rui immediately packed up all his belongings and hurried off to find his companions.
Su Han took out paper and pen to crunch the numbers, considering factors like the current amount of supplies, the daily system distribution, and the probability of triggering professions. After a while, she finally concluded—the supplies were just enough, and it was time to meet up with the others.
However, before she could step out, there was a knock on the door. A familiar voice followed, "It's me, open up."
Su Han raised an eyebrow and let the person in.
Zhong Rui dropped his packed bags and cheerfully pulled out the master key. "With this, we can open any door in the apartment. Even if supplies run out, we're set."
Su Han sighed lightly. "So hunkering down isn’t absolutely safe after all."
Then, she organized the supplies systematically—ready meals into the fridge, bottled water and soap into the cupboard.
Noticing that the kitchen had warm soymilk and red bean buns, Zhong Rui casually picked up a bun and started munching. He mentioned casually, "On my way here, I saw toxic gas spreading in the hallway. Someone must be impatient to end the game quickly."
"After all, it's just a trial run. Winning is simple—take out 80 players and you’re done," Su Han replied offhandedly. "But in an actual competition, players would have to consider multiple factors. Like how to hoard more supplies while ensuring victory."
Zhong Rui added, "The game starts by culling players in waves. The more eliminated, the better, until only 20 to 30 survivors remain. That way, each person can get 2-3 rations daily. Once the system provides less than 20 rations, the final battle begins."
"Exactly," Su Han nodded slightly in agreement.
"Let’s just wait here. The other testers have probably already started taking action. As for us, we can kick back and ride to victory," Zhong Rui decided breezily.
**
As time passed, the toxic gas gradually spread to the second floor, filling the hallways of the first and second floors.
Unaware residents from these floors who stepped outside would contract the "poison debuff" after just a few seconds in the hallway. By the time they noticed something wrong with their health, ducking back inside would already be too late.
With medicine in short supply, the only way to win was to eliminate others first. Suddenly, the first and second floors were filled with desperate, poisoned players who became highly aggressive, fighting as if they had nothing to lose—totally savage.
The player squad had originally planned to start clearing from the first floor, but due to the gas, they had to change their strategy and begin from the fifth floor instead.
All five testers were skilled, making it effortless to waste NPCs. Soon, the fifth floor was cleared.
During the process, they encountered Jin Shi. Qiu Shuang wanted to recruit him into the team, but Jin Shi firmly stated that he could win just by staying in his room and didn’t want any trouble. Left with no choice, Qiu Shuang had to give up.
When they reached the fourth floor, Qiu Shuang used the master key to open the door as usual, while her teammates gripped their weapons, ready for battle.
The moment Room 404 was opened, both sides froze.
Zhong Rui was the first to react, his eyes showing understanding. "A door opened by the master key?"
Su Han, displeased by the sudden intrusion of strangers, pressed her lips together tightly.
Qiu Shuang quickly regained her composure and smiled, throwing out an invite. "Would you two like to join us? Working together, we can speedrun this."
