Chapter 62
by 远行不渡Chapter 62
"Holy crap, where the hell am I?"
"Did I wake up in the wrong universe? Why are there cannibals in a hotel? WTF!"
...
Lin Tingyue's nonstop ranting was killing them. Chen Sui and the others had been holding back their laughter at first, but after Lin Tingyue’s relentless tirade, they finally lost it completely.
Lin Tingyue: "?"
"Why are they laughing?"
No time to explain—because the man and woman who had just been making out were now walking straight toward them.
They had a seriously pissed-off look, clearly here to cause trouble.
He Manhui immediately stepped up as shield, blocking their path. The man demanded, "What are you laughing at?"
"Who died and made you boss?"
Exactly! What’s the big deal if they laughed? While Lin Tingyue was busy ranting, the other three were totally owning it.
Seeing this, the woman clung to the man and baby-talked, "Sweetie, just ignore them."
"Eww, why does her voice sound so... unnatural?"
Some girls naturally have that high-pitched tone, and none of the four had a problem with that—but this woman’s voice was straight-up creepy.
The man, who had been all over the woman just moments ago, was still fuming. He doubled down, asking again, "What are you laughing at?"
Like he wouldn’t leave until he got an answer.
"? Is this place yours?"
He Manhui wasn't having it. She shot back coldly, "You know damn well why we’re laughing. Man up and own your shit."
"Damn, no filter! Somebody mass-produce my sis Manhui—give one to everyone who can’t clap back, and watch the damage skyrocket!"
She hadn’t expected so much praise from Lin Tingyue, but He Manhui was low-key thriving.
The man was sweating bullets, his face turning darker by the second. The woman looked confused as she asked, "Sweetie, what did you do?"
"Ah, probably doesn’t even remember."
He doesn’t remember?
Wow. Must’ve done too many shady things to keep track.
The man snapped, "Cut the bullshit! I didn’t do anything!"
He Manhui: "Okay then, whatever. Why you getting defensive? Innocent people don’t get this triggered. But the way you’re acting—"
She sized him up and delivered her killer line: "Looks like you got caught cheating?"
The man was shook.
He Manhui smirked, "Ooooh, so that’s what it is. We were just in the elevator and heard your whole shady convo with your wife."
The next sentence was directed by He Manhui at the woman in the man’s arms. Seeing that the woman didn’t react, He Manhui emphasized her tone and repeated herself.
The woman actually looked a little impatient now.
He Manhui: “?”
This is straight-up cheating!
Is she seriously okay being the side chick?
The woman smiled softly, patting the man’s back soothingly: “Shh, it’s okay, baby. I’ll always believe you. Let’s go upstairs first. Don’t listen to their nonsense.”
He Manhui pointed at herself—nonsense? *Me?*
He Manhui was so mad she almost swung, but Chen Sui and Zhang Zili held her back together.
Chen Sui shook her head and whispered, “Every year has its freaks, but this year’s got a whole damn festival.”
Unfortunately, the man overheard and exploded: “Who are you calling freaks?!”
Lin Tingyue snapped back, “You two. What about it?”
The trio gaped. Lin Tingyue used to be the poster girl for sweet innocence. But ever since they started hearing her internal commentary, that first impression had completely vanished. Still, thoughts were thoughts—she’d never snapped like this before.
But then they understood why she was acting this way.
Buckle up, this is wild. The guy read a few posts online and decided to experiment with his prostate, jamming random stuff up there—and then he ripped himself open.
Lin Tingyue added with a sigh, “Turns out it’s not the ‘sea’ as in ‘by the sea,’ it’s the *adult* business kind of ‘sea.’”
Afterward, the man panicked and rushed to the hospital, only to tragically discover he wasn’t just torn—he was permanently out of order.
So he thought, “My wife can’t find out.” So he hit “Shake” on his app and matched with this woman in his arms, trying to get his mojo back.
As long as he could get it up again, he could still be with his wife. He insisted he was doing it *for love*. He truly loved her so much.
By now, Chen Sui and the others wore horrified Pikachu faces, shocked there was even more to come.
But! This woman turned out to be the man’s wife’s own younger brother.
Wait—*what?* Her *brother?!*
When the man vented his frustrations on the chat app, he sent this woman a photo. The younger brother recognized him immediately—it was his sister’s husband. He thought, “If my brother-in-law stays broken like this, what happens to my sister’s future? I’m doing this for her!!!”
Emmm… how to put it… honestly, they’re kinda made for each other. Ship them. Throw away the key.
They all gagged, unsure where to even begin processing this.
The four of them took a step back simultaneously. The man smirked smugly, “Scared yet?”
“I feel like just breathing near them makes the air turn toxic.”
Passersby who had accidentally stumbled into this drama and gotten trauma-dumped nodded like, *YUP, nasty.*
The man’s phone rang again—the screen flashed *WIFE.*
The moment the man answered, an accusatory voice came raining down on him.
"Aren't you supposed to be working late at the company?" she snapped.
"Yes, babe," he replied.
"I went to the company and found out you weren't even working today. Are you screwing around somewhere?"
"Babe, how could I? Everyone's assignments at work are different. You have to believe me."
"Mmm, I believe you."
"Babe, I knew—"
Before he could finish, he noticed someone standing right in front of him—his wife.
Xu Yunyin hung up the phone. The man’s face went pale as he stammered, "Wife, let me explain—"
She curled her lips in contempt. "Zhen Heshun, if you want to explain, you should probably take your hands off him first."
Only then did Zhen Heshun realize his arms were still wrapped around Xu Junhao.
He hastily pulled away, while Xu Junhao wished he could vanish into thin air.
Xu Yunyin stared at him coldly. "This one… looks awfully familiar."
Xu Junhao’s face crumpled. "Jie."
The sharp crack of a slap rang out. "Don’t call me that. I’m not your sister. A real brother wouldn’t have no shame—crawling into his own brother-in-law’s bed! Xu Junhao, how could you be such a disgusting slut!"
From childhood until now, Xu Yunyin had never scolded Xu Junhao like this. Tears sprang to his eyes as he pleaded, "Sis, listen to me—I did all this for you! I only wanted what's best for you. If brother-in-law really had someone else, what would you do?"
"Huh? Cheating with your own brother-in-law doesn’t count as cheating?"
"Xu Junhao, did you lose your tongue? Can’t you speak? ‘For me’? You’re just making excuses for your own mistakes. If you killed someone someday, would you say it was for me too?"
Meanwhile, Zhen Heshun was completely shell-shocked. The person he’d been with… was his brother-in-law?!
Then all these days…
"Wife, wife, I didn’t know! I was duped too!"
"Oh," Xu Yunyin let out a bitter laugh. "I almost forgot about you."
She raised her hand and slapped Zhen Heshun again.
"Your lives are over."
Without hesitation, Xu Yunyin stormed out without a backward glance.
After devouring this juicy drama, the foursome returned to the dessert shop, eating cake and dissecting the events.
Zhang Zili looked incredulous. "Can you believe this actually happens?"
He Manhui shrugged. "Of course it does. There are even crazier things out there. You're just too naive, Zili."
Zhang Zili buried her face in her drink, as if trying to drink away her naivety.
"After today, I’ll be a brand new person. No scandal can faze me now."
Chen Sui clenched her fists, her eyes filled with determination.
He Manhui and Zhang Zili exchanged a glance. Saying stuff like that in front of Lin Tingyue, the gossip central, was pretty naive, huh.
"Suisui, don’t count your chickens too soon. The drama out there is wilder than you think. Take this one, for example—a wife hired her own relative as a nanny, but the relative kept stirring the pot, badmouthing the wife to the husband. In the end, the couple had a messy breakup, and the relative took over."
Chen Sui was flabbergasted. Wait... what?!
Chen Sui chugged a big mouthful of her drink. Lin Tingyue asked curiously, "Suisui, what are you doing?"
"I’m still green. I need to listen more."
Lin Tingyue: "?"
"What kind of nonsense is that?"
Zhang Zili quickly changed the subject. "Suisui, want to go shopping?"
Chen Sui knew they were still worried about her. She said, "Nah, I’m good. Even though that jerk scammed me, I just got my payback. Besides..."
She glanced at their faces and smiled. "I still have you guys."
"Awwww."
The four of them hugged tightly.
"If you’re really that concerned, then just hook me up with extra cake later," Chen Sui said with a smirk.
Zhang Zili: "I remember someone saying they were cutting out sugar."
He Manhui: "And trying to lose weight too."
Lin Tingyue: "Even made a weight-loss plan."
Chen Sui: "..."
"I’ll strangle you little devils who deliberately brought me to a dessert shop!"
The three of them laughed and dodged.
Only after seeing Chen Sui get into the car did the three of them head out.
Lin Tingyue returned home to find Lin Rusong sitting on the sofa, flipping through the paper.
She leaned over and asked, "Dad, what are you reading so intently?"
"Ah, Tingyue, you're back," Lin Rusong pushed up his glasses. "Nothing much, just some policy stuff."
Lin Tingyue nodded. Lin Rusong said, "If you want to watch TV, go ahead and change the channel."
Lin Rusong liked having the news on while reading the news. Bai Yaxin once said his habit was kind of weird, but he never broke it.
"Okay."
Lin Tingyue picked up the remote but got distracted by the news broadcast.
"Seventy-year-old CEO has a kid late in life, while his wife is only in her twenties???"
Lin Tingyue was shocked. Seriously?!
Lin Rusong remembered something about it too and said, "I think this is already his fifth wife."
"The business world is a complete mess," he added, "Let's not watch this. How about a TV show instead?"
"Okay."
But even after changing the channel, Lin Tingyue was still thinking about what had just been discussed. She looked it up online.
"Turns out the child isn't even his."
