Once everything is sold, I will compensate you for your ten months of wages, and your contract with Madam Xu will be terminated. What do you think?”

Hearing that Ji Yuntang would make up for his lost wages, Manager Wang was moved to tears. “I thank Princess Ye! You are truly a kind person.”

After expressing his gratitude, he shifted his tone. “But lowering the prices to 70% of market value—won’t you be losing money?”

That would mean selling goods that others priced at five taels for only three taels and five maces, an enormous loss.

Ji Yuntang replied, “I just reviewed the ledger. Madam Xu procured the goods at 50% of the market price. If we sell at 70%, we won’t lose money—we’ll still make a 20% profit. It’s a small margin, but it’s better than not selling anything at all.”
