Chapter 413 Bad Seed
by 枕星鱼Chapter 413: Bad Seed
Back when Ji Yuntang was still here, she basically did all the farm work at home!
Later, when someone came and took Ji Yuntang away, their family's land was left untended and eventually went to waste.
Besides their stored grain, they relied entirely on the villagers for food.
Chen Hu tossed the shovel at Wu Shijie's feet. "I ain't got time to mess around with you. Get your ass up and start working."
"If you keep stalling, I'll rip your arm off."
"The hell you will!" Wu Shijie glared at him fiercely.
Chen Hu snorted coldly. "The hell I wouldn't!"
"This is Prince Ye's mansion, not your damn house. I ain't as nice as our Princess Consort."
With that, right in front of Wu Shijie, he smashed a big rock to pieces with one punch.
Wu Shijie: "..."
Wu Shijie: "!!!"
His eyes nearly popped out of his head. He never would've guessed that a plain-looking guard could be that strong!
He couldn't help wondering—if Chen Hu had punched his head instead of that rock, would his skull have exploded?
Wu Shijie gulped and didn't dare talk back to Chen Hu anymore. He scrambled to his feet, grabbed the shovel, and started digging.
Chen Hu snorted coldly. The Princess Consort was right—this guy was a spineless coward.
Words were useless with this guy. The only language he understood was fists.
Meanwhile, back in the medicine room.
Wu Chaoyang followed Ji Yuntang inside, his beady little eyes darting around curiously at the potions on the shelves.
"Sister Yuntang, what are all these colorful things? They look tasty."
He reached out to touch them, but Ji Yuntang smacked his hand away.
"Don't touch those. They can kill you."
Anyone else would've backed off in fear at those words, but Wu Chaoyang's eyes lit up instead.
He tugged on Ji Yuntang's sleeve and pressed on eagerly, "Sister Yuntang, can you tell me what all of them do?"
Every potion had a label, but Wu Chaoyang couldn't read, so he couldn't tell what any of them were.
Annoyed by his nagging, Ji Yuntang had no choice but to introduce them one by one.
She introduced over thirty potions, but in the end, Wu Chaoyang only remembered two: the Yan Rong Jiang that could disfigure someone's face, and the Mai Xian Weng that could kill you with poison.
Unlike those colorful potions, these two had one thing in common—they were both clear and colorless.
Wu Chaoyang's eyes darted around as he stared hard at the bottle of Mai Xian Weng.
The moment Ji Yuntang turned around, he quietly poured some of the Mai Xian Weng into her teacup, then quickly put the bottle back.
Wu Chaoyang picked up a cup of hot tea and handed it to Ji Yuntang with a grin, showing off two little fangs.
"Sister Yuntang, you've been working so hard. Why don't you take a break and have some hot tea?"
The moment Ji Yuntang took the cup, her sharp nose caught a strange smell.
She turned to look at the potion shelf, and sure enough, the Mai Xian Weng bottle was half empty.
She sneered inwardly. This kid Wu Chaoyang was young, but his heart was pure evil.
Using her own medicine to poison her—what a joke!
A smile curled at the corner of Ji Yuntang's mouth. "Sister's not thirsty. If Third Brother is thirsty, you can drink this tea yourself."
She handed the tea back to Wu Chaoyang, who shook his head frantically. "No, no, no—this is your cup. How could I drink from it?"
"It's fine. We're family. I don't mind. Drink up!"
Ji Yuntang smiled at him. Her expression was as gentle as could be, but Wu Chaoyang's scalp tingled with fear.
His face pale, he took the cup, but his hands were shaking so badly that the cup slipped right out of his hands.
The tea spilled all over the floor, and the relief on Wu Chaoyang's face was obvious.
He pouted and said with fake guilt, "Sister Yuntang, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to spill the water on the floor."
Ji Yuntang didn't miss the smug look that flashed across the kid's face. She stood up.
"It's fine. It's no big deal. I'll have someone clean it up later."
"The potion I'm working on is almost done. Soon I'll have Third Brother test it for me."
"If it works, maybe I can even make you grow a few inches in a month!"
Wu Chaoyang's eyes were full of contempt. Grow taller? Who the hell would believe that crap?
Even though he was seven, he was still pretty short, standing half a head shorter than other kids his age.
Wu Chaoyang had always figured it was because his family was too poor to afford enough food, and malnutrition had stunted his growth.
He often complained about being born into such a poor family and cursed his bad luck.
Now that Ji Yuntang said that, Wu Chaoyang felt like she was deliberately making fun of his height.
His hatred for Ji Yuntang burned even hotter!
She was just a lowly village girl—what right did she have to become a princess consort?
His gaze landed on Ji Yuntang's stunning face, and he thought to himself.
It must be because of that face. Back then, she was so ugly that even the village bachelors who couldn't find wives wouldn't touch her.
But now, she'd turned into one of the most beautiful women in the capital, and her face was even more stunning than Ji Qingqing's.
A terrifying thought suddenly popped into Wu Chaoyang's head. If he ruined Ji Yuntang's face, his second sister would be thrilled, right?
After all, his second sister hated Ji Yuntang so much—her very existence was a threat to his second sister's position!
The more Wu Chaoyang thought about it, the more excited he got. He felt pretty smug about his little plan.
He felt like he was a really smart kid.
Ji Yuntang turned to fetch the syringe, while Wu Chaoyang quickly stepped forward, slipping the vial of inflammable solution into his sleeve.
By the time Ji Yuntang had filled the syringe with the medicine, she saw Wu Chaoyang had already scrambled up onto the table on all fours.
Standing atop it, he said with a look of innocence, "Sister Yun Tang, I'm too short. I want to stand higher so you won't have to bend down when giving me the injection."
He seemed to be thinking of Ji Yuntang's comfort, but in truth, he just wanted a higher spot to splash the inflammable solution all over her face later.
This stuff was too good to waste.
Ji Yuntang smiled gently. "Alright, I'll do as you wish."
She fiddled with the syringe in front of him. "Third brother, roll up your sleeve, and I'll give you the injection."
"Okay." Wu Chaoyang pretended to comply, but his hand secretly grabbed the vial and pulled out the stopper.
As Ji Yuntang approached, his face suddenly turned vicious, and he whipped out the hidden inflammable solution, flinging it at her face.
"Ugly woman, how dare you try to take my second sister's place? Go to hell!"
