Chapter 359: Spoiling His Wife
by 枕星鱼Chapter 359: Pampering His Wife
The other woman also said, "He'er hates to see Your Highness go~"
Luo Jingshen gave each of their waists a squeeze, grinning lasciviously.
"Of course I will. Xiang'er and He'er are the darlings of my heart. I'll come to see you whenever I have time."
Just as he finished speaking, a pebble flew from somewhere and struck Luo Jingshen directly on the forehead.
The two beauties in his arms were startled, shrieking and losing their composure.
Xiang'er looked at him and gasped, "Ah, Your Highness, it looks like you've got a bump on your head."
Luo Jingshen reached up and touched his forehead, and sure enough, he felt a protruding lump.
He hissed in pain. "Damn it! Who dares to attack me?"
Luo Jingshen looked around but found no suspicious person, which only made him more confused.
In the capital, he figured no one had even been born yet who'd dare to attack him in the street.
Maybe it was just an accident?
Luo Jingshen withdrew his gaze, said goodbye to the two beauties, and prepared to board his carriage.
Just as he set one foot on the carriage step, a stone flew from somewhere and struck his forehead again.
He was so startled he fell flat on the ground.
Turning back to look, there was still no one.
Clutching his forehead, Luo Jingshen roared in a rage, "Who dares to attack me? If you have the guts, come out! Skulking in the shadows doesn't make you a hero."
He was now pretty sure someone was deliberately messing with him.
Whoever it was had serious martial arts skills and dead-on aim. If they really wanted him dead, they'd have used something sharper than a rock.
But Luo Jingshen couldn't figure out what the point of all this was.
Ji Yuntang was also blown away by this whole sequence of events.
She'd been watching Luo Junhe's carriage the whole time and saw with her own eyes the stones flying out of it, striking Luo Jingshen.
After those two shots, nothing else happened.
Ji Yuntang would be lying if she said she wasn't shocked.
From what she knew of him, Luo Junhe wouldn't do something so childish.
Chen Hu, inside the carriage, was dumbfounded. He asked, "Your Highness, you waited outside Qianxiang Tower for almost an hour instead of going back to the manor, just to hit the Crown Prince with a slingshot?"
Luo Junhe lowered his gaze, his eyes darkening. "He messed with my princess consort. I'm just collecting a little interest. Got a problem with that?"
Hearing that, Chen Hu immediately turned all sycophantic. "No problem at all, Your Highness. Everything you do is right."
"The Crown Prince is such a scumbag. By hitting him, you're not just getting back at him for the princess consort, but for all the women he's messed over too. Your Highness, you're a genius!"
Luo Junhe glanced at him, his peach blossom eyes narrowing a little. "Watch your mouth. I'm only avenging the princess consort."
"What are other women to me?"
Chen Hu sheepishly rubbed his nose, realizing he'd put his foot in his mouth again.
He quickly said, "This subordinate's got a big mouth. Please don't be angry, Your Highness."
Chen Hu mulled it over and figured out why Luo Junhe had done this.
Honestly, getting back at Ji Yuntang's bully was only part of it.
More than that, he wanted to do something for her.
They'd all seen from the teahouse how Luo Jingshen had tormented Ji Yuntang at the Canglang Poetry Talk earlier.
At that time, Luo Junhe's expression had been extremely grim, his whole body radiating a cold, stay-away vibe.
But at that moment, there was nothing he could do except swallow his feelings.
Once the competition was over, he didn't have to hold back anymore.
Ji Yuntang had told Luo Junhe not to use his Internal Energy, so he didn't.
Even if it meant using a simple slingshot, he was going to make Luo Jingshen pay.
Luo Junhe pressed his lips together, looked down at his hands, and a helpless, bitter smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.
It wasn't enough. It was nowhere near enough to protect her.
How he wished he could stand and fight alongside Ji Yuntang.
Unfortunately, that was still just a pipe dream.
Luo Junhe shut his eyes in pain and ordered, "It's getting late. Let's head back to the manor."
Chen Hu acknowledged the order and went out to drive the carriage.
As they passed a tofu pudding stand, the aroma drifting in caught Luo Junhe's attention.
He tapped the carriage window and said, "Chen Hu, the princess consort likes tofu pudding. Go get two servings."
"Remember, savory, not sweet. Extra scallions, chili oil, and sesame, but go light on the pickled veggies."
"You got it! This subordinate's on it." Chen Hu happily agreed without the slightest impatience.
He felt like Luo Junhe was becoming more and more alive.
He had someone he loved and had learned to care about others. He was no longer the Prince Ye who lay in bed wishing he were dead.
Chen Hu noticed the changes in Luo Junhe and chalked it all up to Ji Yuntang's miraculous medical skills. His reverence and respect for the two of them only grew.
The carriage ahead stopped, so the one behind naturally stopped as well.
Wang Sheng reported, "Reporting to the princess consort, the prince's carriage has stopped!"
Ji Yuntang said calmly, "Mm, just follow them. If they stop, we stop."
She thought it was just an ordinary occurrence, but to Ji Yuntang's surprise, Luo Junhe's carriage stopped a total of seventeen more times after that.
All seventeen times, he had Chen Hu go to street-side food shops to buy snacks.
Ji Yuntang was totally done!
She felt like if he kept this up, Luo Junhe would buy out every food stall on the street!
But was he really that hungry?
She'd never once missed giving him a meal, and he still ate like a horse without gaining a pound.
Suddenly, a thought struck Ji Yuntang.
"Wang Sheng, do you think maybe the food I cook as the Princess is just too awful, and the Prince can't stomach it, but he's too embarrassed to say so, so he sends Chen Hu out to buy street food instead?"
Wang Sheng's mouth twitched, and he said, sounding a bit helpless, "Princess, you can question the Prince's taste buds, but you absolutely cannot question your cooking."
"Your cooking is the best I've ever tasted—no one can match it."
Ji Yuntang asked, confused, "Then what do you think he's buying all that food for?"
Wang Sheng was sharp; he glanced at the food stalls and immediately caught on.
"Princess, think about it—what did Chen Hu just go buy?"
"Tofu pudding, camel hoof, fried meat pies, perilla shrimp—aren't these all things you usually love to eat, Princess?"
"I've often heard Tao Zhi talk about it."
Ji Yuntang: "..."
Ji Yuntang: "!!!"
She thought about it carefully, and it was indeed true.
Knowing that Luo Junhe remembered her preferences made Ji Yuntang feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Maybe this was the joy of a husband she'd molded herself.
However, Ji Yuntang's focus clearly shifted a bit.
A gossipy glint appeared in her eyes. "Wang Sheng, Tao Zhi even tells you things like this—you two seem pretty tight?"
Wang Sheng's face instantly turned red, and he stammered, "We... we get along alright. It's... it's mainly because Miss Tao Zhi is quite considerate of me..."
