Chapter 16
byChapter 16
Jiang Cheng had never imagined that one day he would have a gun pointed at him by a man.
As another guy, Jiang Cheng understood all too well what he was facing now—it was simply, simply...
Jiang Cheng was innocent by nature, and his face flushed bright red in an instant. The thought that another guy was getting turned on because of him made him want the ground to swallow him up.
But he didn’t dare move, because he knew that at this moment, staying still was the best choice.
The next few minutes felt unbearably long. Just as Jiang Cheng was about to crack, the jet ski finally blasted to the finish line. Shang Zenian no longer held him down but reached for the brake instead. Jiang Cheng practically scrambled forward, scooting a whole body length away and sitting directly on the fuel tank.
He heard Shang Zenian let out a low chuckle.
And he still had the nerve to laugh!
Jiang Cheng wanted to hit him.
The race was over, and they had won first place without a doubt. Once the jet ski came to a complete stop, Shang Zenian took off his sunscreen jacket and sunglasses and handed them to Jiang Cheng.
“Hold these for me.”
“?”
Why was he taking off his clothes all of a sudden?
Still immersed in his embarrassment, Jiang Cheng’s mind immediately went to the gutter. His face, which had just cooled down a little, flushed bright red again as he looked at Shang Zenian in alarm.
Seeing the *stay away from me* look on Jiang Cheng’s face, Shang Zenian found it both amusing and irritating. “In broad daylight, do I really look like that much of a pervert?”
“...” Yeah, pretty much.
What kind of guy would point a gun at someone just for seeing a girl’s shoulder?
And he wasn’t even a real girl.
Jiang Cheng grumpily took his clothes and sunglasses. The next second, he heard a *plop* and felt the space behind him empty—Shang Zenian had jumped straight into the sea.
A moment later, Shang Zenian emerged from the water. He wiped the water from his face, pushed back his wet hair, revealing his handsome, striking features. Seeing Jiang Cheng staring at him in shock, he explained, “I came down to cool off.”
“...” Jiang Cheng didn’t want to talk to him anymore.
He quickly zipped up his sunscreen jacket all the way to the top.
Just then, two jet skis pulled up beside them, one behind the other. Seeing Shang Zenian’s head sticking out of the water, Lu Xiyuan asked in surprise, “Shang, did your wife kick you into the sea?”
Shang Zenian: “What, jealous that I’ve got a partner to kick me around?”
Lu Xiyuan: “...”
Enough already.
They used to think Shang Zenian, this cool guy and straight man, would be indifferent in a relationship. Who knew that once he fell in love, this refined young master would act so smitten and desperate in front of his wife.
Shang Zenian asked, “Who lost?”
“Him.” Gao Xiang pointed at Lu Xiyuan. “This guy chickened out on the U-turn.”
“That’s called cherishing my life, okay?” Lu Xiyuan yelled. “This single guy admits defeat. Come on, come on, let’s head ashore, change clothes, and go to Ju Xian Wei—order whatever you want.”
Shang Zenian seemed to have cooled down enough. He swam over to Jiang Cheng’s side. Just as Jiang Cheng was wondering how he would get back on, Shang Zenian grabbed the rear grab handle. Jiang Cheng felt a strong pull downward; he quickly held onto the handlebars. In that split second, Shang Zenian had already vaulted back onto the jet ski.
Jiang Cheng couldn’t help but mentally say “smooth”.
That core strength, that power—no joke.
Jiang Cheng shrank forward, trying to avoid any physical contact, and handed back his clothes and sunglasses.
Shang Zenian took them casually. “Want to play more? If you do, we can keep going for a while.”
Jiang Cheng shook his head. They had already played for a long time and were done.
“Then let’s head back.”
Jiang Cheng drove the jet ski back to the dock and handed it over to the staff. He was almost completely soaked, his hair wet and plastered to his face. Fortunately, the staff had given him a waterproof pouch for his phone before boarding. He took his phone out and typed.
“I don’t have any clothes to change into.”
“There are clothes prepared for you at the villa. Let’s go back, change clothes, and have a meal. This afternoon, I’ll take you out on the sea for some deep-sea fishing.”
Deep-sea fishing! Just hearing it filled Jiang Cheng with anticipation. He followed him back to the villa to change.
As promised, the villa had new clothes ready for him: a long halter beach dress and also a set of T-shirt and pants. Naturally, Jiang Cheng chose the T-shirt and pants. Now that no one would mistake him for a girl, why would he pick a dress?
He took a shower, blow-dried his hair, and came out of the room. Shang Zenian was already done. He was sitting on the living room sofa, playing on his phone, waiting. Seeing Jiang Cheng in that outfit, he looked a little surprised.
“Why didn’t you wear the dress? We’ll mostly be on the yacht this afternoon. The dress would look better in photos. Do you want to go change?”
Jiang Cheng immediately shook his head. No way.
Shang Zenian didn’t force him. He took him to Ju Xian Wei for lunch. This restaurant was part of the resort, which was invested in by Lu Xiyuan’s family, so in the end, it was just money going from one pocket to another.
The four of them arrived at the restaurant, took their seats, and a server handed them a tablet to order. Lu Xiyuan generously said, “Come on, order whatever you want. Sister-in-law, you go first.”
The server handed the tablet to Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng had no idea how to order. He had heard that king crab was the most expensive seafood, costing thousands per crab, but when he saw the menu listing bluefin tuna at over ten thousand yuan per pound, he felt like they were using a different currency from him.
“This tuna sashimi is good. We should try it.” Shang Zenian, sitting next to him, leaned over to look at the menu with him and suggested.
Jiang Cheng pushed the tablet over to him, letting him order.
Shang Zenian figured he was just too shy to order and didn’t press him. He didn’t hold back—he ordered three dishes right away. Gao Xiang ordered two more, and finally Lu Xiyuan added a few more. Jiang Cheng mentally calculated that this meal definitely cost more than five thousand yuan per person.
These rich young masters really were loaded.
He had to admit, these expensive things were pricey but delicious. Even Jiang Cheng, who wasn’t particularly fond of seafood, found them very tasty.
After lunch, they rested for a while and then went out on a yacht to enjoy the sea. They had been so busy having fun in the morning that they didn’t take any photos. In the afternoon, once out at sea, Jiang Cheng took quite a few pictures, planning to show them to his grandmother when he got home.
They stayed out until the sun was about to set before heading back. The fish they caught were cooked by the villa’s chef into dinner, and they ate dinner at the villa before heading home.
At eight o’clock, they finally arrived home.
But Shang Zenian didn’t drive to the entrance of the villa as usual. Instead, he stopped outside their villa complex.
“I want to spend a little more time with you, but you won’t let me get out of the car. So I’ll just walk you to the gate. That okay?”
“...” Jiang Cheng found himself unable to object.
It's only about a ten-minute walk anyway.
Shang Zenian naturally took his hand. As for holding hands, first time's awkward, second time's a breeze; Jiang Cheng was completely used to it.
The summer evening breeze blew over them, bringing a refreshing coolness.
The two walked side by side. At this hour, many people were out for a walk to enjoy the coolness and escape the heat. Pedestrians sat on benches by the road chatting, children ran back and forth noisily, their bright laughter drifted away on the night breeze.
A child was playing too happily and, while running, was about to crash into Jiang Cheng. Shang Zenian, quick as a flash, pulled Jiang Cheng into his arms. The kid missed Jiang Cheng but stumbled and hit the ground, and immediately started crying loudly.
Jiang Cheng was wondering if he should help the kid up, Shang Zenian said in a low voice, "Leave it."
A moment later, a woman who seemed to be the child's grandmother ran over. It was clearly her own naughty child who had fallen, but she scowled and was about to vent her displeasure at Jiang Cheng when she saw Shang Zenian, who was hidden in the shadow of the tree, which she hadn't noticed from a distance.
The other person was tall, with a cold appearance that looked unfriendly. Her bravado vanished, and she lowered her head to help her precious grandson up, and didn't dare yell at Jiang Cheng anymore.
"Let's go," said Shang Zenian.
Jiang Cheng thought it was funny. He took out his phone and typed: "If you weren't here, what would she have done? Would she have tried to shake me down?"
This is a villa area, full of rich people. Would they still try to shake people down?
"Nah. She was just heartbroken that her precious grandson fell, so she would scold you a few times to vent, covering up her own negligence."
"I see," Jiang Cheng typed. "Figures, every brat has a bratty parent."
"Hmm," Shang Zenian said in a teasing tone. "It seems we'll have to teach our future children well, otherwise the mom would even kick my ass as the dad."
Jiang Cheng: ".........."
Jiang Cheng snapped, embarrassed and annoyed: "Who said I'm having your kid!"
"No kids? Works for me too. I don't like kids either. We can go DINK."
"..."
Whatever. He's a guy who can't have kids anyway, and a guy who's gonna bail in a month. Why bother arguing?
When they were almost home, Jiang Cheng spotted three familiar figures coming out of the Chen family's house. They were clearly his so-called uncle Chen Pingye, and his wife, holding their three-and-a-half-year-old daughter. They were probably going out for a walk or returning home; they also lived in this villa area.
Jiang Cheng froze up.
"What's wrong?" Shang Zenian followed his gaze and also saw Chen Pingye and the others. "Your uncle? Want to go say hello?"
Jiang Cheng immediately shook his head like a bobblehead.
Seeing that they would soon inevitably see them, Jiang Cheng panicked. He pulled Shang Zenian and ducked into a nearby corner. This was outside the neighbor's wall, with a large bush of blooming roses beside it, which just blocked them from view.
"What are we, sneaking around like lovers?" Shang Zenian was forced to hide here with him and asked amusedly.
Jiang Cheng typed on his phone: "He's a gossip!"
Last time, when he and Shang Zenian were making out at the door for half an hour, it was this Chen Pingye who spread the rumor!
"Don't worry, your grandpa already gave the nod. Even if he spreads rumors, it's useless."
And after the last incident, he wouldn't dare run his mouth now.
But Jiang Cheng just didn't want him to see them. It wasn't Shang Zenian who would be embarrassed.
"No going out, got it!" He typed bossily and glared at Shang Zenian, looking as if he would get angry if Shang Zenian didn't obey.
From their interactions, Jiang Cheng had figured out that Shang Zenian totally fell for this act.
Hmph, then he couldn't be blamed for milking it and being spoiled.
Shang Zenian raised an eyebrow, lowered his eyes, and his deep gaze met Jiang Cheng's.
Jiang Cheng gulped. This time it won't work, will it? Is he gonna get mad?
Shang Zenian raised his hand, and Jiang Cheng instinctively flinched.
"Don't move. A petal landed in your hair."
Shang Zenian reached out and removed the petal that had fallen on his hair, but he didn't pull away, instead casually resting his hand on Jiang Cheng's smooth and delicate cheek.
Jiang Cheng's whole body stiffened.
"Your face is so small."
Shang Zenian's palm was scorching hot, gently caressing his cheek. "Only as big as my hand."
"..." Okay, that's enough groping!
Jiang Cheng couldn't take it anymore and grabbed his hand.
The caressing stopped, and his gaze fell on Jiang Cheng's lips.
The bow of his upper lip was round and glossy, the outline of his lips soft and rosy pink, naturally had a soft, dewy sheen, as if they would spring back like Jell-O if pressed, totally kissable.
Jiang Cheng felt the vibe was way too intimate. He looked away and wanted to push him off and peek out to see if Chen Pingye and the others had passed.
But the next second, he felt a shadow fall over him. Before he could react to what it was, he felt a warmth on his lips. Something soft pressed against them.
Jiang Cheng's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. A moment later, his heart raced like he'd stepped on a million squeaky toys.
Help! Ahhhhhh a guy just kissed him!
