"I'm Tian Tian. Thank you all for taking time out of your busy lives to attend my birthday party."

As Tian Tian spoke, the surroundings instantly darkened, leaving only a strong spotlight on her.

"I have gathered everyone here today to ask you all to be my witnesses."

The eyes of everyone in the villa were fixed on Tian Tian.

Wearing a pink long dress, her hair swept back, with a few wavy strands framing her face, the cool light cast a thin veil over her.

"He's also here today. I want to say something to him, even though he's rejected me plenty of times."

Tian Tian gave a self-deprecating smile, then said freely, "But hey, life's about being bold. I'm stubborn—I won't stop till I hit rock bottom."

Chu Yan cupped his hands over his mouth and shouted from below the stage, "Tian Tian, you're the birthday girl! Say whatever you want!"

Tian Tian let out a snort of laughter. "Chu Yan, I don't need your reminders."

"I've known him since we were kids. He wasn't the same back then..."

"Later, we grew up and went our separate ways to chase our dreams. We've both grown into better people."

Song Jiang caught bits and pieces. He was watching Tian Tian at first, but soon his eyes drifted to his upper left, toward Fu Zhichen.

He muttered, "What's there to talk about for so long?"

A little voice in his head was urging him.

To step up and cut off their conversation.

Song Jiang was torn; two little voices were fighting in his head.

After a moment, Song Jiang slapped his forehead. "No, what am I stressing about? They're just having a normal chat with Fu Zhichen, talking business."

"Why am I rushing to butt in?"

"If I mess up the CEO's project, I'm done for."

On stage, Tian Tian went on.

"I realized how I felt about him a few years ago, when I was abroad. I hadn't seen him in a while, and I felt this emptiness, like something was missing."

Song Jiang didn't catch everything Tian Tian said, but by this point, he had a pretty good idea what she was up to.

"I was gonna write this down, print it out as a speech, and read it, but that felt too cheap and rushed. Honestly, the story between us is already etched in my heart."

"Zhichen, I want to tell you: I like you. Will you be with me?"

Tian Tian spoke on stage, keeping her tone light and cheerful, her voice sweet as sugar.

A lot of the guys below liked that vibe, so they started cheering and causing a ruckus.

Finally, someone—who didn't dare mess with Fu Zhichen directly—knowing Song Jiang was his butler, shoved the mic into his hand and pushed him forward.

The guy stood to Song Jiang's left and immediately slung an arm around his shoulder.

"Hey, bro, do me a solid. Get Fu Zhichen to respond. If the main guy doesn't answer sweet little Tian Tian's confession, it'd be a total slap in the face."

Song Jiang glanced at the guy distractedly. He was tall, with long, narrow eyes and a sharp, handsome face. He looked a bit wild, but when he looked at Tian Tian, there was tenderness in his eyes.

Tian Tian's suitor was such a catch; she really shouldn't put all her eggs in one basket.

The guy, unfazed by Song Jiang's stare, went on.

"Besides, Tian Tian's the birthday girl today. It'd be best if Fu Zhichen says yes."

"But if he doesn't, ask him to be straight with her soon."

"Tian Tian's a great girl. If he doesn't like her, I'm gonna go for her."

Chu Yan, on Song Jiang's right, was nodding along at first and even chimed in.

But at the last sentence, his face changed, and his voice got sharper.

"What? You're gonna go after what?"

The guy didn't hold back, with a look that said, "What's wrong with me going for it?" "Of course, I'm going after Tian Tian!"

Chu Yan's temper flared up, and he slammed the table.

"Tian Tian is someone you can defile? Where did you pop up from, some rich kid? What business does your family do?"

The guy answered calmly, "My family is decent, just a bit worse than the Tian Group."

Chu Yan laughed mockingly. "You know you're a bit worse, and you still have the nerve to say you want to pursue Tian Tian?"

"Look at yourself. Today, even if you were much better off than Tian Tian's family, it still wouldn't be okay."

"And let me tell you, Tian Tian is not someone just anyone can pursue. If you want to pursue her, you have to pass my test first!"

The guy wasn't stupid. Hearing himself being put down like that, he felt bad. "Who are you? What are you to Tian Tian? Pass your test?"

"What authority do you have to say that to me? I'm telling you, I'm definitely going to pursue Tian Tian!"

Chu Yan was still confident at this point. "I'm Tian Tian's brother! Do you think I have the qualifications or not?"

"Bullshit! I've been paying attention to Tian Tian for so long, and I've never known she has a brother."

Chu Yan's tone weakened a bit. "I... I'm her non-biological brother, okay!"

The guy sneered. "What era is this? Someone still calling himself 'brother'?"

"If you ask me, do you also like Tian Tian? If you do, then we'll be competitors from now on!"

Chu Yan retorted, "Who likes her! She's just a little sister who used to follow me around asking for candy when we were kids. I just can't bear to see her get hurt by a scumbag!"

The guy said righteously, "Don't talk nonsense! I'm not a scumbag! I'm serious about Tian Tian!"

Song Jiang was caught in the middle, almost drowned by their spittle, in a state where he wanted to leave but couldn't.

His left hand was tightly held by Tian Tian's suitor, and his right hand was pulled by Chu Yan. Their words became more and more aggressive, and it looked like they were about to start a fight.

"Heavens, someone save him!"

But why does Chu Yan have such a big problem with someone pursuing Tian Tian?

Is it really just him looking out for her like a brother?

Song Jiang didn't think too deeply about it at the time.

Soon, Song Jiang couldn't hold back the crowd's heckling, and the mic was shoved under Fu Zhichen's chin.

Song Jiang was already right in front of Fu Zhichen, with no time to figure out a way out, so he had to plead before Fu Zhichen could get a word out.

"Mr. Fu, please don't turn Tian Tian down in front of everyone, okay?"

"Please, Tian Tian is a very good girl."

No one in the villa said a word; everyone was waiting for Fu Zhichen's answer, but Fu Zhichen's dark eyes were locked on Song Jiang.

Song Jiang looked at him with pleading eyes, softly repeating the words, "Please."

After a moment, Fu Zhichen's low, raspy voice, like gravel scraped across sandpaper, echoed through the room.

"The person I like is indeed here."
