Chapter 110: If Something Happens to You, It Hurts Right Here
by 溪河江海Chapter 110: If Something Happens to You, It Will Hurt Here
"Fu Zhichen! You shameless bastard!"
Their current relationship was still that of butler and CEO! At most, at most, he was a pursuer.
Husband and wife, his ass! He figured Fu Zhichen must've lost his damn mind today and skipped his meds to spout crap like that!
The more Song Jiang mulled it over, the more off it felt. He couldn't tell if he was embarrassed or pissed, but the mix of both made him feel so...
Ah!
Song Jiang dug his fingers into his hair and scratched like crazy. He was losing his mind!
Without a second thought, he shot up, grabbed a pillow, and hurled it at Fu Zhichen.
The pillow sailed through the air in a perfect arc. He figured he'd catch Fu Zhichen off guard, but the guy used his long arms to snag it mid-air.
Seeing that, Song Jiang got even more pissed!!!
As he hunted for the next handy weapon, he twisted some part of himself wrong. He heard the crack of a bone.
Oh crap...
Song Jiang's whole body locked up, too scared to budge an inch. He wasn't about to break another bone, was he?
At that thought, Song Jiang totally freaked out.
Out of the corner of his eye, he peeked at Fu Zhichen lounging on the sofa. He wanted to beg for help, but he refused to call out to that shameless old geezer.
This was all Fu Zhichen's fault. If he ended up a cripple, he'd make Fu Zhichen wait on him hand and foot for the rest of his life. Song Jiang bit his lower lip hard, and before he knew it, his eyes were welling up.
The little butler stayed frozen in place. Fu Zhichen set the pillow down and quickly caught on that something was off.
He called out cautiously, "Song Jiang?"
Song Jiang choked back his voice, sniffled, and muttered, "What."
Fu Zhichen hurried over to Song Jiang and grabbed his shoulder, trying to spin him around.
"Ah...!" The pain made Song Jiang's face scrunch up. "Ow, ow, ow, Fu Zhichen, stop touching me!"
In an instant, the pressure radiating off Fu Zhichen made the air in the room feel like it had frozen solid.
His voice was dripping with fury as he barked at Song Jiang, "Song Jiang, are you a dumb pig?! It hurts and you didn't say a word!"
Song Jiang's eyes were already brimming with tears. Getting yelled at like that, he couldn't hold them back anymore, and they spilled down his cheeks.
Glossy tear streaks ran down his rosy cheeks as Song Jiang whined in a hurt voice.
"You're yelling at me..."
Fu Zhichen didn't answer. He quickly slammed the emergency call button.
Within minutes, a bunch of doctors in white coats came rushing into the ward. Fu Zhichen's piercing gaze swept over every single doctor.
"If you can't fix him, you're all fired!"
Only someone who'd been through it could grasp how heavy those words were.
Song Jiang finally got why the heroines in novels fell for guys like this. Maybe this was one of the reasons.
...
With the doctors' help, Song Jiang settled back onto the bed.
After the check-up, he was okay. The car accident had loosened his bones, and as long as he took it easy and didn't move around too much, he'd heal up fine.
Before leaving, the doctor glanced at both of them meaningfully and said, "Young folks need to show some restraint. Health always comes first."
Restraint? What's that supposed to mean?
Song Jiang was baffled and watched the doctor all the way out the door.
Fu Zhichen's crisp suit jacket was already off at some point. Two buttons on his shirt were undone, and his sleeves were rolled up past his elbows.
His toned muscles were on full display.
He held a thermos in one hand, opened it with a blank face, adjusted the bed to a good angle for eating, and then sat down next to him.
"Open up."
Song Jiang blinked his almond eyes, never taking them off Fu Zhichen as he obediently opened his mouth.
"Ah~"
Spoon after spoon of fragrant food was fed to him. He had to admit, it was damn good.
Fu Zhichen always nailed his swallowing rhythm, and within seconds of him swallowing one bite, the next was already coming.
He even dabbed at the grease at the corner of Song Jiang's mouth with a tissue every now and then...
Fu Zhichen, a big-shot CEO above ten thousand people, actually had a day where he played caretaker. Being treated so gently—was he a swaddled baby or what...
After a bit, Song Jiang let out a full burp and mumbled quietly, "I'm full."
Don't ask why he didn't dare talk louder. He could tell Fu Zhichen was pissed right now...
As for why he was mad, he had no clue.
Song Jiang watched blankly as Fu Zhichen polished off the rest of his food, cleaned up the little tray table, and grabbed some fruit from the nightstand to wash.
Why was he being so extra? He couldn't even eat fruit...
The fruit was chopped up and set in a little white porcelain bowl next to his hand. Fu Zhichen crossed his arms and sat stiffly on the edge of the bed.
Fu Zhichen's lips were pressed into a thin line, his back ramrod straight—totally on edge, his face grim.
His deep eyes locked onto him like a hawk. Song Jiang grabbed a strawberry, took a bite, and then peeked at Fu Zhichen.
He noticed that every time he moved, Fu Zhichen's eyes followed him.
Like he was guarding a prisoner. Song Jiang swallowed hard, feeling weirdly creeped out.
Song Jiang nudged the porcelain bowl a bit closer to Fu Zhichen and asked carefully, "You want some?"
Fu Zhichen didn't budge. His all-black, monk-like outfit made his presence even more intimidating, and his blank face looked extra dark.
Song Jiang's heart sank even further.
He quickly shoved the rest of the strawberry into his mouth, then grabbed Fu Zhichen's sleeve.
He hardly pulled at all, and Fu Zhichen's arm came out easily and landed on the bed.
Song Jiang took Fu Zhichen's pinky, lightly scratching the tip with his fingernail, tilting his head, he asked, "Fu Zhichen, what's up with you?"
From what he could guess, he figured this was the calm before the storm—Fu Zhichen might yell at him, or even hit him.
But neither of those happened.
The moment he grabbed Fu Zhichen's hand, a big palm quickly wrapped around his.
His palm was still burning hot. They stared at each other for a long moment before Fu Zhichen finally spoke.
He wasn't scolding him, and his tone wasn't harsh—it was almost doting, mixed with something Song Jiang couldn't quite place... fear?
What was Fu Zhichen afraid of?
What could possibly scare a cold-hearted, ruthless CEO like that?
He couldn't figure it out, so he waited quietly for Fu Zhichen's response.
"Song Jiang." Fu Zhichen was impossibly gentle, brushing his other hand over Song Jiang's eyelashes.
"Hmm?"
"What happened earlier can never happen again."
"If you get hurt..." Fu Zhichen finished, leading Song Jiang's hand to his chest, pressing it between his chest and his big palm.
Song Jiang could clearly feel his heart pounding at an irregular rhythm, and then he heard Fu Zhichen say.
"Here, it hurts."
