Chapter 46: Are You Jealous?
by 临十Chapter 46 Are You Jealous?
Su Zhiyu went quiet.
The two of them faced off in silence, and every word felt like a thorny branch—on second thought, all brambles.
He had no right to say anything, and no reason to.
But whenever he thought of Jiang Yizhou pulling at Qin Yan's hand, he stubbornly held his ground, saying his piece with a straight face:
"Qin Yan is my team member. I have to make sure my team gets enough rest, so please leave him alone."
Jiang Yizhou really didn't get how dropping something off could be a disturbance.
Unless...
He shot Su Zhiyu a sharp look, quickly left Qin Yan's door and walked over to Su Zhiyu instead, asking in a low voice: "Do you like Brother Qin too?"
Su Zhiyu's eyebrows twitched, the sudden question catching him off guard.
"I'm just making sure our team is in top shape. As the captain, you should focus on your own duties."
"So what's your relationship with Brother Qin?"
What relationship?
Su Zhiyu remembered Qin Yan's earlier sly teasing. Roommates? No, just dormmates.
No.
He took a quiet breath and said two words: "Friends."
"Friends?" Jiang Yizhou snorted with laughter. "That's no different from me, then. We're all just friends."
"Time for a nap."
"..."
Jiang Yizhou's smile stiffened. Fine, fine—so he just couldn't deliver it, huh? Fine.
In the end, he had no choice but to take the fruit back to his room.
Su Zhiyu watched him until the door shut, leaving the empty hallway silent, with only his own shallow, rapid breathing left.
Su Zhiyu, Su Zhiyu.
What the hell are you doing?
Why are you butting into Qin Yan's business?
He glanced at the closed door next to him, pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, and turned to shut his own door.
"Su Zhiyu."
The door beside him opened.
Before Su Zhiyu could turn around, a familiar figure slipped into his room and slammed the door shut.
"You—"
"I'm here to sleep with you." Qin Yan grinned, stepping forward with his tall frame and pressing Su Zhiyu against the door, closing the distance between them.
"Su Zhiyu." Qin Yan braced a hand against the door, his smile rakish and carefree, yet somehow you couldn't hate it.
He said: "Are you worried I won't sleep well? Or... don't you want other Omegas near me?"
That question was way too ambiguous. Su Zhiyu's breath hitched, and he turned his face away, unable to meet Qin Yan's gaze so close.
That burning gaze was so intense he could barely take it.
"Say something, Su Zhiyu." Qin Yan's voice was soft, laced with a teasing breath that brushed his ear, as intimate as a lover's whisper.
Everyone else called him Zhi Yu—it sounded close and friendly.
But Qin Yan.
He always said the full three characters, the simple name rolling off his tongue with a weight he couldn't describe.
It sounded so good.
Qin Yan leaned in closer, a faint smile lingering as his other hand slid up to Su Zhiyu's slim waist, rubbing gently through the fabric:
"Su Zhiyu, I can't sleep by myself at noon. Good captain, for the team's honor, sleep with me."
Su Zhiyu's ears turned completely red. In the enclosed space, the air seemed to thin.
He greedily breathed in the fresh air, acutely aware of the hand at his waist, deftly and casually undoing his shirt buttons.
But it didn't go any further.
"Su Zhiyu..."
Qin Yan called his name again. Su Zhiyu's body trembled, and he couldn't take it anymore, reaching out to push him: "Go to sleep."
Qin Yan chuckled. "Alright."
He let go, and the warmth at Su Zhiyu's waist disappeared instantly. Su Zhiyu felt a brief daze, then quietly buttoned his shirt back up.
Qin Yan took off his coat, revealing he was already in his pajamas underneath. He deftly lifted the blanket and slipped into bed.
Su Zhiyu stood by the bed, surprised by Qin Yan's ease and secretly wondering if the earlier intimacy had been an illusion.
He grabbed his own pajamas and went into the bathroom to change.
When he came out, Qin Yan had already closed his eyes, looking like he was asleep.
Su Zhiyu relaxed a little. He carefully climbed onto the bed and lay down at the edge, leaving a galaxy-sized gap between him and the person behind.
But the second he lay down, Qin Yan opened his eyes.
"Ah—"
Su Zhiyu gasped as an arm suddenly wrapped around him, pulling him over and into a solid, warm embrace.
A familiar scent enveloped him instantly, and a low murmur by his ear sounded a bit hurt:
"Why are you so far from me? Are you mad?"
"..."
"Why the long face?"
Su Zhiyu pressed his lips together and gritted out two words: "Nothing."
"Yeah, you are." Qin Yan bared his teeth in a mock-scary grin and snapped, "You dare lie to me, huh? Tell me, why are you unhappy?"
He'd clocked Su Zhiyu's subtle shift the second he walked in—the guy was upset.
Why was he upset?
Was it because Jiang Yizhou had been so insistent on bringing him fruit earlier? But he'd never accepted it before, and today he hadn't even knocked.
Could it be...?
"Are you jealous?" Qin Yan fought to keep the grin off his face, tamping down his glee, and dropped a feather-light kiss on the corner of Su Zhiyu's eye.
Su Zhiyu's eyes went wide: "You..."
Qin Yan seized the opportunity to grab his hand and chuckled, "It's not like we've never kissed. You're my man—what, I can't even kiss you now?"
"Qin Yan!"
"Shh, keep it down. Walls have ears."
Qin Yan actually put a finger to his lips.
It was just a plain warning, but Su Zhiyu's ears went beet red, and even his head started to burn.
That night...
The memories of that night came flooding back, leaving his mouth parched.
Their gazes met.
Clearly, they were both thinking of the same thing, seeing the same raw, burning hunger in each other's eyes.
Instantly, alarm bells went off in Su Zhiyu's head. He closed his eyes and said, "Let's just sleep. I'm beat."
Qin Yan's throat bobbed, and he pulled him closer.
"I don't like Jiang Yizhou."
Su Zhiyu remained silent.
Qin Yan murmured softly in his ear, "Don't be down. Cheer up, my liege."
Liege...
Su Zhiyu's heart pounded like a drum. In the play, there was also a forbidden, charged kiss.
Under the moonlight, in the open garden, in the deserted night, they crossed the lines of rank and morality, reverently kissing their beloved.
Behind him came the rustling sound of movement.
Qin Yan propped himself up, and his clear voice came through again: "Su Zhiyu, I suddenly can't sleep. How about we run lines together?"
