    Chapter Index

In this world, Ying Zhao's status is that of an Omega, known as Ying Yan. His name never even appeared in the story, making him seem like an inconspicuous background character. Perhaps the only thing linking him to the protagonists is that Ying Yan is also a student at the Imperial Academy.

However, the two people Ying Yan despises most in the world are Alberna and Bella. They stripped away everything he cherished, taking the honor and accolades that should've been his, and ruining his life.

The original Ying Yan, although an Omega, was born without a gland. His mother, an Omega from a minor clan, was abandoned by his father, Ying Guo Hao, after giving birth to the imperfect Ying Yan.

Ying Guo Hao viewed Ying Yan as a blemish on his reputation and cast him and his mother out to a farm on a minor asteroid owned by the Ying family, before swiftly marrying an Omega from a prominent clan.

Ying Yan grew up laboring on the farm with his mother, struggling just to fill their bellies. Yet through it all, his mother never gave up.

She cherished Ying Yan deeply and believed that knowledge was his only way out. Ignoring the jeers of others, she diligently taught him.

Unfortunately, when Ying Yan was fourteen, his mother passed away due to illness. To fulfill her wishes, Ying Yan immersed himself in study, and soon displayed an incredible aptitude in potion-making.

When Ying Guo Hao learned of this, he finally remembered the son he'd ignored. Tests on Ying Yan revealed that both his physical and mental strengths astonishingly reached A-grade.

This newfound revelation made the once indifferent Ying Guo Hao start valuing Ying Yan. After all, Omegas with A-grade in both mental and physical strengths were rare.

Even without a gland, his prodigious talents in potion-making meant he could be a valuable asset in the future.

Ying Guo Hao reluctantly sent him to the Imperial University for further studies, but with the condition that Ying Yan had to quickly prove his worth.

Eager to stay at the academy, Ying Yan worked tirelessly, soon producing a batch of B+ grade potions. This pleased Ying Guo Hao, who agreed to let him continue his studies.

In reality, this batch wasn't a true reflection of Ying Yan's skills. His prowess in potion-making was unparalleled, and he was hiding his true abilities.

Originally, Ying Yan's physical and mental capacities were only of B-grade, which had improved slowly over years of hard labor on the farm.

He discovered that a person's physical attributes could be enhanced externally and thus, harbored hopes of enhancing his mental capacities as well.

Back in the village, he managed to produce a potion that could slightly enhance mental power, based solely on his bookish knowledge.

Despite the excruciating pain and near-death experiences the potion caused him, it helped him jump from a close-to-A B-grade mental strength to a full A-grade.

Ying Yan understood what this meant. A potion that could genuinely boost mental power would be crucial against the Bug race and could alter his destiny.

Therefore, he was determined to stay at the Imperial Academy. He knew once he perfected the potion and unveiled it, he'd become legendary. He could then sever ties with his family and the father who saw him only as a tool.

However, he then met Alberna, who came to the school as an instructor.

Being an aloof person and ridiculed for his gland deficiency despite his remarkable achievements, Ying Yan often kept to himself. That was until Alberna took a sudden interest in him, showing warmth and concern.

Never having experienced such kindness from anyone other than his mother, Ying Yan quickly fell in love with Alberna, confiding in him about his greatest secret.

Alberna had always known that Ying Yan was a prodigious talent in potion-making. Recognizing his vulnerability, he believed Ying Yan was easy prey.

He began to get close to Ying Yan, hoping to acquire beneficial potions for the battlefield. Little did he expect that Ying Yan possessed the skills to create a potion genuinely boosting mental power.

With Ying Yan's potion, Alberna became invincible on the battlefield. He deceived Ying Yan with sweet words, promising him a grand wedding once he became a general.

Yingyan believed Abner's words sincerely, devoting himself to creating potions for him. However, when Abner was eventually promoted to the rank of general, he didn't marry Yingyan. Instead, he chose Bella, who had always ridiculed Yingyan, bullied him in school, and even took the potions that Yingyan made for her own benefit.

Upon learning this, Yingyan felt deeply betrayed and desolate. Yet shamelessly, Abner approached him again, claiming everything he did was for their shared future.

Abner confessed he married Bella solely for her influential family background which would further his military career, but promised he'd eventually return to Yingyan.

Although Abner was a silver-tongued manipulator, Yingyan's resilience shone through. He could not stomach such betrayal and decisively left Abner.

However, Abner, valuing Yingyan's skills, couldn't let him go. Seeing Yingyan left with nothing due to Bella's schemes and forced to relocate to a minor planet, Abner used his power to covertly capture Yingyan.

Abner imprisoned him in an underground lab, coercing Yingyan to continue creating potions. Yingyan tried to escape multiple times, but Abner always caught him.

Heavy shackles were fastened around Yingyan's wrists and ankles. Abner even considered branding him at one point, but Yingyan's unyielding spirit deterred him.

Later, Bella discovered Yingyan's confinement. When Yingyan pleaded for his release, Bella not only insulted him but also exploited his talents, taking credit for his potions and establishing herself as a top potion master.
