Rarely seeing his partner this upset, Ying Zhao shrunk back, contemplating how to best explain this unfortunate turn of events.

As expected, Shi Yanchen remained silent throughout their journey home, his expressionless face making Ying Zhao increasingly nervous.

Though he was confident his partner wouldn't blame him, the silence was unsettling.

Seeing this, Ying Zhao quickly adjusted his posture and looked up at Shi Yanchen obediently, silently waiting for what was to come.

Upon seeing Ying Zhao's cautious yet slightly ingratiating demeanor, a hint of amusement flashed in Shi Yan Chen's eyes. Yet he deliberately kept a stern face and said, "Ying Cheng Hao actually calls you cousin? Hmm?"

A deep and husky voice sounded in his ear. Ying Zhao found the man's raspy voice incredibly seductive, sending tingling sensations through his ear, giving him the urge to playfully pinch it. Blinking innocently at his lover, Ying Zhao nodded.

However, Shi Yan Chen leaned in, pinning Ying Zhao against the chair with a dangerous glint in his eyes. Smirking, he continued, "I never expected Han Han to be the renowned head of the Ying family, the chairman of the grand Ying Corporation, and the so-called invisible tycoon everyone raves about. Truly unexpected!"

To be honest, when Shi Yan Chen was fetching food for Ying Zhao at the banquet, he overheard Ying Cheng Hao's address to Ying Zhao and was quite taken aback.

Although Ying Zhao had never hidden his surname from him, Shi Yan Chen never associated him with the Ying family, let alone thought he could be its head.

Although Shi Yan Chen is considered a rising star in the business world, his recent momentum is impressive, and his information control has always been spot on.

Thus, he was aware of what the major families knew. Naturally, he had heard that the new head of the Ying family was Ying Yi's biological son.

There was none of the sharpness he had shown when confronting Ying Cheng Hao. His current pitiable demeanor would make an onlooker think he was being bullied by Shi Yan Chen.

The man, seeing his lover like this, naturally didn't have the heart to scold him. Seeing Ying Zhao's reaction, he felt much more at ease.

So, Shi Yan Chen was worried that he couldn't financially satisfy his lover, or that Ying Zhao was just playing a game with him.

But seeing Ying Zhao's vulnerable demeanor, Shi Yan Chen's desire to tease him dissolved into a sigh.

As long as Ying Zhao cared for him, even a tiny bit, even if it was all an act, it was Shi Yan Chen's fortune. At least he had been given a chance to stand by his side.

Thinking this, Shi Yan Chen sighed helplessly, pulling Ying Zhao into a tight embrace.

He caressed the back of Ying Zhao's head, whispering resolutely, "I don't care if you're the head of the Ying family or richer than a nation. You told me you wanted to be with me. Even if it was a whim, from now on, you're mine and mine alone!"

Feeling the intensity of his lover's embrace and his possessive declaration, Ying Zhao felt nothing but contentment.

He also hugged Shi Yan Chen tightly, hoping to offer some reassurance. Then, with a soft kiss, he whispered, "Chen Chen, what if I told you that from the very beginning, you were the one I coveted? That contract of yours was just me pulling strings for my benefit. The moment I laid eyes on you, I told myself, 'This man is mine'."
