byBut now, rage clouded the young man's vision. He gripped the iron railing in front of him tightly. Upon seeing Mo Yingying, who had teleported back to the shore and was tightly embraced by Ely, his face turned terrifyingly livid.
The railing bent inwards under Jie's force. He lowered his head, his eyes alternating between red and black, teetering on the edge of an explosive outburst. But the sight of a drenched Ely shifted his priorities back to concern.
Though Ming was angry and wanted to control the body to take Ely away, he remembered that during his rampages, his soul power often leaked, causing destruction and even accidentally harming his uncle once.
So, suppressing his fury, Ming begrudgingly allowed Jie to remain in control. Jie rushed to Ely's side.
Without hesitation, Jie pulled Ely into a quivering embrace. After what felt like an eternity, he murmured just two words: "Uncle."
Hearing Jie's voice and feeling his tremors, a pang of pain shot through Ely's heart. He gently embraced the young man in return, soothingly patting his back.
Ying Zhao knew that his lover was worried about him. Although he wasn't an expert swimmer, as a cultivator with a Level Nine soul power, a bit of water couldn't trouble him.
But understanding the concern about his safety, Ying Zhao couldn't help but reassure, "I'm fine, trust me! Sweetie, I really am okay!"
After a long embrace, the young man's emotions started to settle. Seeing that Ying You Jie looked calm again, Ying Zhao then turned to check on Mo Yingying.
Mo Yingying had fainted from the shock of falling into the water, but her life wasn't in danger, so Ying Zhao hadn't been overly concerned. Now, as he tried to check on her, the young man beside him stopped him.
Allowing Ying Zhao to pull Mo Yingying from the water had already stretched the young man's limits. He certainly wouldn't let his own uncle touch her again.
Thus, Ying You Jie first took off his coat to wrap around the drenched Ying Zhao before kneeling to check on Mo Yingying.
Seeing her breathing, he promptly, without any gentleness, slapped her face. Moments later, Mo Yingying coughed, spitting out water, gradually regaining consciousness.
The young man, upon realizing Mo Yingying was fine, turned to Ying Zhao, saying gravely, "She's alright, Uncle. Let's go."
Noticing the rare cold demeanor from the usually gentle Xiao Jie, Ying Zhao understood he was upset and nodded in agreement.
However, remembering that Mo Yingying was a young miss from the Mo family and had accompanied them, he courteously asked, "Miss Mo, are you okay now?"
Mo Yingying, staring blankly at Ying Zhao, shivered and replied, "I'm fine, thank you, Mr. Ying, for saving me!"
The shock of her unexpected fall into the chilly water left her cold and shivering, but she still managed to express her gratitude to Ying Zhao.
Her vulnerable appearance made her seem even more pitiable. However, the two men beside her seemed oblivious to her plight, showing no sympathy.
Once assured of Mo Yingying's well-being, Ying Zhao consulted with Xiao Bai in his consciousness. After confirmation that she faced no serious consequences, he felt relieved.
Noticing his partner's worsening mood, Ying Zhao addressed Mo Yingying directly, "I apologize, Miss Mo, but we have an urgent matter to attend to. I'll call someone from your family to pick you up shortly."
Mo Yingying was visibly shocked, clearly not expecting them to leave her like this. But pride held her back from asking them to stay.
Tears glistened in her eyes, a sight so poignant that onlookers were deeply moved. Sadly, the two men by her side seemed blind to everything else but each other.
After she nodded, Ying Zhao and Ying You Jie left without hesitation, leaving the girl to rise, shivering, amid a crowd of gawkers.
Just as she felt most desolate, a coat was draped over her.
Looking up, Mo Yingying, struggling against the backlight, recognized a familiar voice asking with concern, "Cousin, are you alright?"
Blinking, she realized it was Xu Hao, the cousin she had met earlier that day. He gazed at her with genuine concern.
Even though she was disheveled and embarrassed, Xu Hao's sincere care warmed her heart.
She nodded in appreciation, "I'm okay, thank you, Xu Hao."
Xu Hao shrugged off her gratitude, his heart fluttering. Worried she might catch a cold, he kindly offered to take her home. She didn't refuse. Little did she know, his appearance wasn't just a coincidence.
After Ying Zhao and Ying You Jie left, they hadn't gotten far when Ying You Jie spotted Xu Hao strolling nearby. Recalling a previous idea, he had Ying Zhao stop the car. Getting out, he briefed Xu Hao about Mo Yingying's accident by the lake.
