Chapter 11 "Get rid of it."

No man would tolerate his wife cheating on him.

Luo Le pouted. "In any case, I can't be pregnant, so I'm not going."

Huo Lanjing slammed the glass down on the countertop, producing a loud and harsh sound.

It happened rather abruptly, and Luo Le, who was already a bit anxious, jumped in fright.

Her voice trembled involuntarily. "What are you doing?"

"You have to go. And in five weeks, go again."

Luo Le froze, feeling a stab in her heart, not painful but heavy and oppressive.

Right from the start, she had told Huo Lanjing about the starstorm and that she was injured.

Yet, these past few days, he hadn't mentioned anything about a checkup.

Yet now, simply because he vomited, they wanted him to head to the hospital.

Huo Lanjing cared not a whit about Luo Le's well-being; he was solely concerned about the possibility of Luo Le carrying his child.

At this thought, Luo Le's nails dug painfully into the flesh of his palm.

Refusing to believe it, he lifted his gaze to meet those icy eyes directly.

    "I won't go. What then?"

Huo Lanjing remained silent, gazing at him calmly, without a flicker of emotion in his eyes.

A faint gray tinge began to seep into the depths of Luo Le's eyes. He understood — it was clear that he had no choice but to comply.

A bitter smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "Huo Lanjing, I'll ask you just one question. If we find out in a month that I'm pregnant, what do you plan to do?"

Huo Lanjing didn't alter his stance, his voice as cold as ever. "Terminate it."

    "Why? Aren't we married?"

"You know, I don't particularly like children."

"Is it that you don't like kids in general, or is it that you don't like our child? If it were someone else today, would you be so heartless?"

Huo Lanjing frowned at the person looking up at him. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

    Luo Le scoffed.

The scandal between Huo Lanjing and that Chen person had spread widely within the military. Now, saying he didn't understand was simply amusing.

"Alright, I'll go tomorrow. There's no need to tidy up another room. After the checkup, I'll head straight to report. Just ask Captain Lin to bring my clothes over then."

Noticing the smile tugging at Luo Le's lips, Huo Lanjing paused for a moment.

    "Suit yourself."

As Luo Le watched the departing figure, his expression turned forlorn.

Sure enough, Huo Lanjing really disliked him.

Perhaps he shouldn't have come. If he hadn't, he wouldn't have known about Huo Lanjing's rumored love interest.

If he hadn't come, he wouldn't have encountered the starfall, nor would he have been misunderstood.

He wouldn't have discovered just how much Huo Lanjing despised him.

Ignorance, at times, could be a form of bliss.

"Little Master, dinner is ready. Please follow Little Yuan,"

Luo Le gazed at Little Yuan on the floor and gently stroked its top.

Inputting a series of numbers, he entered a particular interface.

He had given Little Yuan to Huo Lanjing four years ago.

Luo Le knew every program and component of Little Yuan intimately. In fact, he had initially embedded numerous hidden codes within its system and even recorded a special audio message.

His intention back then was straightforward – he wanted Little Yuan to stand in his place, accompanying Huo Lanjing.

So far, the only trigger that had been activated was the meal reminder.

This indicated that Huo Lanjing had never taken Little Yuan out, nor allowed her into his study or bedroom.

Out of respect for Huo Lanjing, Luo Le hadn't attempted any remote manipulation.

Now it seemed… Huo Lanjing had been guarding against him all along.

    Forget it.

Luo Le deactivated the entire Easter egg package.

He then got up and went outside, only to find the dining table deserted.

Undeterred, Luo Le walked over to his usual seat.

The food in the bowl beside him had barely been touched.

Luo Le handed the envelope to Little Yuan without any reaction, otherwise it would only upset him.

Throughout the evening, they didn't speak another word.

Usually, Luo Le shared his amusing experiences, while Huo Lanjing would occasionally respond. Now that Luo Le was silent, their conversation naturally dwindled.

That night, Luo Le fell asleep before Huo Lanjing joined him in bed.

The next morning, both of them left early for their medical checkup.

    At the hospital entrance,

Luo Le shoved the examination report into Huo Lanjing's hands, taunting, "Satisfied now? Are you reassured? Unlike certain individuals, I don't keep a lover named Little A."

Huo Lanjing acknowledged with a soft "Mm," then checked the time.

    "Shall I drop you off?"

Luo Le, annoyed by Huo Lanjing's dismissive attitude, felt his temper rise.

"No need to bother General Huo with this."

The tone was laced with sarcasm.

Huo Lanjing got into the hovering car without any qualms and left hastily.

Luo Le gazed at the vehicle in the sky, lost in thought for a long while.

When they first got married, Huo Lanjing had kept his distance even when walking beside Luo Le.

On their first night, Huo Lanjing had returned home in an intoxicated state for some unknown reason.

After that, things had progressed rather naturally.

But in the four years of their marriage, they mostly lived separately.

Since Huo Lanjing left a year ago without a word, Luo Le's video calls went unanswered.

Even the messages he sent were selectively replied to.

Luo Le kept abreast of which planet Huo Lanjing was battling on and the state of the war through news reports. Ironically, he knew less than an outsider. As for matters within the team, he was even more in the dark. To his surprise, Huo Yuanjing had a rumored love interest. Could it be that the usually aloof Huo Lanjing also had feelings for someone? Luo Le shook his head. Perhaps it was just gossip. He gazed at the hospital behind him for a while before turning back to enter. He wondered if yesterday's incident would happen again. An hour later, in the clinic. "Mr. Luo, your organs and bones have sustained some damage, and due to improper handling, they haven't healed well. Your blood composition is also abnormal. You'll need to take antitoxin medication regularly for purification. Additionally, I recommend you come to the hospital once a week for Type A therapy sessions."

    Once a week...

Luo Le looked at the doctor with a hesitant expression. "How about once a month?"

The training for the First Army was about to commence, and during the rookie training period, it was typically conducted in a closed environment.

The doctor replied, "That's not really recommended. Once a month won't have much effect."

Luo Le bit her lip, quite conflicted.

Type A medical pods had strict restrictions; they could only be used in hospitals or military academies, not in military districts.

"I see. If that's the case, is there anything that can substitute it? I might not be able to manage once a week."

The doctor furrowed his brows, deep in thought. After a moment, he said, "There is an alternative, but it might not be as effective."

"That's alright. As long as it has some effect."

"Alright then. I'll write you a prescription. Go to the room at the corner on the first floor to get the medicine. Soak in it daily, pouring the medication into your bathtub. Each session should last for one hour."

    "Alright."

With the medication in hand, there was only an hour left until the registration time.

Huo Lanjing drove away in his hovercar, leaving Luo Le no choice but to take the hovertrain. However, it didn't arrive even after quite some time.

Luo Le couldn't wait any longer. He clutched the medicine and started running towards the military zone.

There were few people on the road, so he made good progress.

Ten minutes into the run, Luo Le began to feel unwell. Gasping for breath, he slowed down his pace.

Amidst his haze, he thought he heard someone calling his name.

He turned around to see Feng Cheng poking his head out of a hovercar window, waving at him.

"Brother Le, I didn't expect to bump into you here. What a coincidence."

Indeed, it was quite a coincidence.

Looking at Wind City's flashy red hovercar, Luo Le's lips curled up slightly.

    "Your car?"

Wind City frantically nodded and patted the body of the car. "Yeah, how is it? Doesn't it look super cool?"

It did suit Wind City quite well.

"Oh, let's not talk about that. Brother Le, hurry up and get in. We're running out of time."

Luo Le didn't hesitate and opened the car door to get in.

By the time they arrived, the newcomers had already assembled and were standing by.

There was no one left at the registration desk, so the two of them walked over.

"Hello, we're registering. Here's our team induction letter."

From his chest pocket, Wind City produced a credential.

The registrar took it and flipped through it nonchalantly.

Without looking up, he asked, "State your ID for identity verification."

Wind City acknowledged and openly replied, "W3691xxxx."

"Alright, no issues there. How about you?"

Luo Le also disclosed his information truthfully.

As the man verified the details, his eyes widened at the information that appeared on screen.

Then, he stared at Luo Le in disbelief.

It turned out that this person was the wife of an Admiral.

His first thought was, how could the Admiral's wife be so strikingly beautiful?

His second thought was how he ended up in the military.

Luo Le found the man staring blankly at his face rather unsettling; no one enjoyed being stared at by a stranger.

"Is there an issue with the information?"

"Ah? No, no problem at all. It's all normal. Please come in."

    After that, they proceeded inside.

Shortly after, an officer stepped onto the platform.

"Since you've entered here, be prepared for hardship. It's impossible to avoid it in the military. Do you understand?!"

Luo Le paused. He had joined as a mecha pilot; surely he wouldn't have to train alongside them, would he?

The training load for the first military unit was substantial.

He had always been frail since childhood, with an extremely picky appetite.

He didn't eat scallions, garlic, cilantro, or odd meats. He also avoided ginger, leftovers, overly sweet, greasy, or spicy foods, and meats with any hint of gaminess...

This led to him frequently falling ill, catching colds easily and taking over a week for bruises to fade after minor injuries.

Despite years of training that gradually improved his health, the recent Starfall had set him back. It was uncertain if he could endure the same level of training as before.

"You all know that the First Legion's training is rigorous. But just how intense? Don't worry, you'll find out in a couple of days. Also, I must remind you that Mecha Pilots will be training too – there's no escape. So, mentally prepare yourselves."

"This is a special order from the General. Now, we'll proceed with the oath under the guidance of Chen Fu."

    Chen Fu?

Wasn't that the person linked to Huo Lanjing in those rumors?

Luo Le tiptoed, looking up at the stage.

There, a man dressed in a green uniform walked steadily to the center with an humble smile on his face.

With a slight arch of his brows, he greeted, "Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Chen Wuxing, and I'll be the one to lead you in the pledge. Please place your right hand over your heart."

On a scale of ten, he rated about eight for his appearance.

Luo Le's heart skipped a beat. This man spoke gently and had a pleasing appearance. He seemed rather like someone Huo Lanjing would be fond of, with his gentle demeanor.

"Brother Le, what's wrong? It's time for the pledge," Feng Cheng noticed Luo Le standing still and lost in thought, so he called out to him.

Luo Le responded and placed his hand over his heart.

However, the man on the stage didn't start the pledge, and the next moment, the crowd began to stir restlessly.

    "Who is that?"

"What's happening? Aren't we supposed to take an oath?"

Following the crowd's gaze, she noticed someone stepping forward from the far right side.
