Rewind half an hour: Gu Shiying and Fu Huan were kissing in their dorm room. Both had assumed no one would be staying in the dorm over the weekend, forgetting that Yang Shuhang had mentioned he’d be livestreaming for his fans from the dorm on Friday night.
As Yang Shuhang blurted out an expletive, Gu Shiying’s face flushed bright red. Fu Huan, momentarily stunned, quickly pulled Gu Shiying’s face into his chest.
Every move they made was captured live in Yang Shuhang’s stream—there was no avoiding it.
It wasn’t until Yang Shuhang realized he’d filmed something he shouldn’t have that he frantically tried to shut down the livestream. His hands shook so badly he couldn’t find the "end stream" button, his heart pounding. He finally managed to close the stream just before his phone hit the ground, after much fumbling and panic.
Yang Shuhang was so startled he went full scream-queen.
"Ahhhhhhh!"
"Gu Shiying! Fu Huan!"
"What were you two doing?!"
"Were you kissing?!"
Fu Huan remained much calmer: "Yingying told you I was his boyfriend. You didn’t believe him."
Gu Shiying’s face and neck were flushed red. Right now, he wasn’t worried about coming out to his roommate—he was worried about something else entirely.
Gu Shiying's heart sank: "Were you just livestreaming?"
Yang Shuhang: "Y-yeah."
Gu Shiying: "How many people were watching?"
Yang Shuhang: "Quite a lot. Tens of thousands."
Gu Shiying buried his face in Fu Huan’s chest: "Fuck! I don’t want to live anymore!"
Yang Shuhang: "Then… what do we do?"
Fu Huan patted Gu Shiying: "It’s okay. The biggest impact is that we’re publicly out now. Besides, those were Yang Shuhang’s fans—they have nothing to do with us."
Gu Shiying slumped into his chair, his face still flushed with embarrassment.
This did little to comfort him.
As a media student, he knew that if he were a media outlet, this would be a perfect topic to exploit.
Gu Shiying was on the verge of a breakdown: "But you and I—ugh, we were just kissing! Ahhhh!"
Just minutes later, all three of their phones started buzzing with notifications—everyone was messaging them to gossip about Gu Shiying and Fu Huan.
Yang Shuhang was also in a daze. This really wasn’t his fault—he’d confirmed with both of them last week. Who knew they’d suddenly come back and start kissing right when he was around? If they hadn’t been kissing, or if he hadn’t started the livestream right then, none of this would’ve happened. Nobody was really to blame.
"My agent texted me. She wants me to put her on speaker—she wants to talk to you both."
Fu Huan, who was thick-skinned when it came to Gu Shiying, nodded: "I can talk to her. What about you, Gu Shiying?"
He really wanted to go public with Gu Shiying, but he never expected it to happen in such an intense way. He had to admit it was thrilling, but now it was up to Gu Shiying to decide how to handle it. Fu Huan already had a few plans in mind.
Gu Shiying was still thinking. It had only been three months since he accepted he was gay, and suddenly his relationship with his boyfriend was exposed to the whole internet. No matter how strong his mindset was, he wasn’t quite adjusted to it. Having his kiss broadcast live felt no different from doing something intimate in front of everyone.
It was driving him insane.
Gu Shiying covered his face: "Does she want to talk about how to leverage this livestream?"
Before Yang Shuhang could answer, Fu Huan nodded.
Yang Shuhang, however, waved his hands hurriedly: "Definitely not! She wants to help you two salvage the situation. Don’t worry—she’s not that kind of opportunistic person."
Gu Shiying didn’t trust Yang Shuhang—his thinking was always a bit simplistic.
Gu Shiying took a deep breath and tried to calm down. He quickly formed his own thoughts.
Fu Huan could tell from his expression that, despite his embarrassment, he was still rational.
"Should we take her call then?"
Having grown up in a business family, Fu Huan had been exposed to crisis management from a young age. He knew how to handle emergencies—like public relations crises.
"Okay." After being with Fu Huan, Gu Shiying’s mindset had already shifted. He wasn’t just thinking about their relationship anymore, but how they could build a good life together and stay together long-term.
Even after his mother left, his grandmother and uncle had treated him well, and his father occasionally called to check in. He never lacked materially, but he always felt something was missing emotionally. Sometimes, watching his uncle’s family of three—even just seeing his uncle give his cousin a sip of water—made him envious. In those moments, he missed his mother deeply and longed for someone who would love him unconditionally.
Fu Huan was that person—the one he wanted to share his life with. He loved being doted on by Fu Huan without conditions.
Yang Shuhang’s agent quickly called over video. She wasn’t dressed in the stereotypical power-suit—just a white T-shirt, jeans, and her hair tied up neatly. Her eyes, however, radiated sharpness and competence.
As Gu Shiying and Fu Huan had guessed, she wasn’t there to smooth things over quietly—she wanted to discuss collaboration with them.
"Hello, gentlemen. Given the urgency, I’ll skip the pleasantries."
"I have two proposals. First, we contact all platforms to delete the recorded livestream clips. Initially, we allowed fans to record because we wanted Yang Shuhang to engage with them, so they definitely have copies."
"Second, I’d like to ask both of you to cooperate with our promotional efforts—a win-win. I’ll be frank: when I signed Yang Shuhang, I asked about both of you."
"Which option would you prefer?"
Her tone was gentle, but her attitude was firm. Most college students without much life experience might’ve been overwhelmed and simply chosen between her two options—especially since only ten minutes had passed since their faces appeared on the livestream.
But Gu Shiying and Fu Huan were clearly different—especially Fu Huan.
Fu Huan: "The first option doesn't accomplish much. As long as Yang Shuhang stays in the entertainment industry, the livestream incident will keep resurfacing."
Gu Shiying nodded; Fu Huan was right about this.
Agent Cheng Jie: "Hmm, that's highly possible. But netizens also have short memories."
Fu Huan: "Unless Yang Shuhang leaves the entertainment industry now and stops his career. I assume you've already mapped out his career path, leaning toward music and variety shows."
Agent Cheng Jie was surprised by his insight: "Yes, so what are you thinking?"
Fu Huan looked at Gu Shiying. He knew Gu Shiying had always wanted to have his own channel. Gu Shiying was free-spirited, and Fu Huan didn’t want him tied down by work either; he hoped he could live freely and do what made him happy.
"We have an account and hope to use this livestream incident to gain some promotion and traction."
Gu Shiying was equally surprised by how well Fu Huan understood him. He had only started his own account that summer, and it now had fifty thousand followers—all gained during the summer when he and Fu Huan built it together. The videos with the most likes all featured Fu Huan. When Fu Huan said "our account," he meant this one.
He was happy that Fu Huan had thought of this.
This way, their account would essentially go public. Previously, they had only shown their hands and backs, never their faces—but now they would reveal themselves.
With more traffic on his account, Gu Shiying would have more options moving forward. Besides, he was graduating soon, and next semester he could start looking into internships.
Cheng Jie smiled: "That could work. We can discuss the details. My approach follows the entertainment industry model—I’ll promote Yang Shuhang and get him trending. But if we include you two, the buzz won’t seem manufactured and will feel more natural. Both he and you can gain exposure this way. How does that sound?"
Gu Shiying’s mind worked quickly. He asked Fu Huan, "Can we handle this influx of attention? Our account doesn’t seem to have many videos worth promoting."
Fu Huan: "Don’t worry. I’ll get help from my brother to work with Ms. Cheng and get the account up and running. Quality over quantity."
Gu Shiying remembered the day they confessed to each other. Fu Huan had said he would travel the world with him to film content. It turned out it wasn’t an empty promise—he was really there, making it happen, step by step.
"I’ll follow your lead."
Fu Huan was clearly better at handling such crises.
Cheng Jie hadn’t yet realized who Fu Huan’s older brother was: "Then we’ve reached a consensus. I’ll create a group chat now, and we can discuss everything there."
Fu Huan: "Okay."
As soon as the video call ended, Fu Huan called his brother.
Fu Qin, who had just finished a meeting, was surprised to receive a call from his usually reserved younger brother.
Fu Qin: "Well, what brings the young master Fu calling?"
Fu Huan: "Bro, lend me some people to handle something."
Fu Qin dropped the teasing tone: "What happened?"
If it weren’t important, Fu Huan wouldn’t be calling him at this hour.
Fu Huan said casually: "I was kissing my boyfriend and accidentally ended up in my roommate’s livestream."
Fu Qin: "Doesn’t sound like a big deal?"
Fu Huan: "It’s not exactly a big deal, but my roommate signed with a talent agency. He’s gained some fame recently, and there were tens of thousands of viewers in the livestream at the time."
Fu Qin himself often used livestreams for product sales. He once made a guest appearance and sold out all inventory. He knew that a celebrity with fifty thousand viewers in a livestream had solid influence.
Fu Qin remarked: "Then your roommate is quite impressive. Alright, I’ll have Assistant Hu help you."
Fu Huan: "Thanks, bro."
Fu Qin: "Mhm, you’re welcome. Bring your boyfriend home for dinner this weekend."
Fu Huan: "..." He hung up immediately!
Fu Qin muttered at his phone: "That brat, dating someone and not bringing them home."
Fu Qin had Assistant Hu contact Fu Huan, then quickly opened a platform to search for videos about "accidentally kissing in a livestream." Netizens were incredibly fast—he found everything. Without hesitation, he downloaded the videos and sent them to his parents.
He hoped they wouldn’t be too shocked.
Fu Qin crossed his legs and smirked: "I really am such a good brother."
