Chapter 4 His Goal Is to Clear the Level
byChapter 4: His Goal: Clear the Game
When Mu Zhang saw Lin Juangui carrying only one suitcase, he quirked an eyebrow, a flicker of surprise in his expression.
The Omegas he had known in recent years were all materialistic, obsessed with clothes, jewelry, and treasures—moving house meant hauling several truckloads. They were troublesome and vain.
Lin Juangui noticed Mu Zhang’s gaze. Their eyes met, and he politely greeted him with a “Mr. Mu.”
Lin Juangui’s demeanor had improved slightly since their last encounter, but his subdued appearance still left Mu Zhang somewhat unsettled.
After Lin Juangui settled onto the opposite sofa, Mu Zhang leaned back, one arm casually draped over the sofa, a condescending smile playing on his lips. With a hint of mischief, he remarked, “You don’t look like a newlywed.”
Lin Juangui offered a faint smile. “My family has faced some difficulties. While Mr. Mu’s assistance has offered a brief respite, I haven’t been able to fully recover in such a short time. However, rest assured, Mr. Mu, I will do my best to cooperate with you in public.”
“You proposed this arrangement. I’ve placed my bet on you, so you’d better not disappoint me.”
Lin Juangui nodded. “Of course, I will fulfill my duties diligently.”
As the planetary lord, Mu Zhang’s marriage registration had to be completed on the Federal Central Star.
The starship glided smoothly toward the Federal Central Star. The two were in the sixth-floor observation lounge.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, the universe’s stars twinkled. Before Lin Juangui could admire the view for long, a lawyer approached, handing two document folders to Mu Zhang and Lin Juangui.
“The prenuptial agreement you both requested has been drafted. There are two copies: one is the prenuptial contract for the notary office, and the other outlines the terms both parties must adhere to during the marriage. Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask, and I will clarify them for you.”
Lin Juangui opened the folder and meticulously reviewed the contract. The property contract for the notary office seemed straightforward, listing some of Mu Zhang’s assets—likely a mere formality. Lin Juangui’s only possession was the Lin Corporation shares transferred to him by Mu Zhang.
Any income earned by either party during the marriage would remain separate, ensuring no shared assets in the event of a divorce. This was precisely what Lin Juangui desired.
Lin Juangui had no objections to the first document. Both he and Mu Zhang signed their names and affixed their fingerprints.
Beyond Lin Juangui’s obligation to help Mu Zhang manage his heat, the document also stipulated that Lin Juangui should maintain an affectionate public image with Mu Zhang.
Life is a stage, and acting is everything. Lin Juangui believed he was up to the task.
However, as the document primarily outlined Lin Juangui’s obligations, he felt it lacked balance and proposed several additional terms.
Lin Juangui presented his arguments logically, anticipating various scenarios. Mu Zhang seemed to find it utterly preposterous, as if he had just heard an unbelievable joke.
“If intimacy occurs, either party can immediately terminate the contract and proceed with divorce? Lin Juangui, aren’t you overestimating yourself?”
Lin Juangui shook his head. His gaze remained unfocused, drifting as if unable to settle, which made others uncomfortable.
“I know you don’t think highly of me, but I learned in middle school just how potent the attraction between Alpha and Omega pheromones can be. My differentiation was late, and I’ve never experienced an Omega’s heat. I’m simply concerned that in the future… what if I use such reasons to cling to you? You would undoubtedly find that troublesome, so an additional safeguard benefits us both. Don’t you agree?”
The lawyer interjected, “Mr. Mu, you only require Mr. Lin to provide pheromones; there’s no need for you to assist him during his heat. Cases of Omegas in heat using pheromones to entice Alphas are common. This clause is indeed advantageous for you.”
To sway Mu Zhang to his side, Lin Juangui needed to emphasize the mutual benefit. He could certainly keep his emotions in check, as his marriage to Mu Zhang was purely for gain, not affection—and Mu Zhang likely felt the same.
Moreover, Mu Zhang was currently in a cold war with Mu Yuanqing over certain issues. Having been wronged by Mu Yuanqing, Mu Zhang was experiencing inner turmoil, which was why he sought a substitute to help him through his heat.
Mu Zhang needed Lin Juangui, an actor, to resolve some minor but irritating issues. The cost, which he was happy to pay, was insignificant to Mu Zhang.
After both parties reached an agreement and signed the contract, the lawyer collected Mu Zhang’s copy and presented another share transfer agreement to Lin Juangui.
“Following Mr. Mu’s investment in the Lin Corporation, his shareholding reached 17%, making him the second-largest shareholder. However, upon learning of your desire for the Lin Corporation as compensation, Mr. Mu acquired shares from several other shareholders and some minority stakes. His current shareholding now stands at 53%. This is the share transfer agreement. If you find it acceptable, you may sign it, and I will handle the registration and related procedures for you.”
As Lin Juangui took the contract, he glanced at Mu Zhang, as if silently questioning his generosity.
Mu Zhang’s smile was sly, making him appear even more refined and elegant. Even the fine lines at the corners of his eyes seemed artistically charming, like a cunning jade-faced fox.
“The once-obedient child is now leveraging his position to seize his parents’ lifeline. Is this revenge? What will he do next?”
Mu Zhang was an Alpha who reveled in drama.
He delighted in setting traps, observing the twists and struggles of human nature with endless fascination.
Initially, Mu Zhang had assumed Lin Juangui’s marriage proposal was his parents’ idea, a scheme to leverage Mu Zhang’s status as their son-in-law.
But now, it seemed Lin Juangui intended to seize power directly.
So, Mu Zhang handed the Lin Corporation to him, eager to see what kind of spectacle Lin Juangui would orchestrate.
Lin Juangui’s smile deepened slightly.
He knew his actions had caught Mu Zhang’s attention.
Mu Zhang was an Alpha who had broken away from his family to forge his own path. He had no patience for weak-willed individuals, so Lin Juangui needed to show Mu Zhang their similarities.
He hadn’t expected Mu Zhang to be so generous, simplifying Lin Juangui’s plans by making him the largest shareholder and enabling him to participate in decision-making.
“My thoughts must seem naive to you. I simply believe that if something is to be destroyed, it should be by my hands. That way, I won’t feel as much pain.”
Lin Qiu lacked business acumen. Under his leadership, the Lin Corporation had been operating at a loss for years and would have gone bankrupt long ago if not for its remaining assets.
Mu Zhang was not surprised by Lin Juangui’s words. He waved his hand, instructing Lin Juangui to pick out a formal outfit from the wardrobe. “We’ll take photos later.”
“Okay.”
During their two meetings, Lin Juangui had worn casual, student-like attire, which suited his age and inexperienced demeanor. At the very least, it made Mu Zhang feel that Lin Juangui was easy to control.
In formal wear, Lin Juangui looked neat and sharp from his tie to his cuffs. The reflection in the mirror felt both familiar and strange.
Lin Juangui used to wear glasses, paired with a wardrobe full of suits. His boyfriend often joked that he was the epitome of a “refined scoundrel.” Lin Juangui found it amusing and would pinch his boyfriend’s cheek, saying it was all for appearances.
In the business world, one couldn’t afford to dress casually. Suits were like battle armor, enhancing one’s presence.
When Lin Juangui stepped out of the changing room, Ge Miao was visibly taken aback for a moment. He quickly approached and asked if the clothes fit well. Lin Juangui nodded. “They’re perfect.”
The clothes had been purchased by Ge Miao’s staff, but he clearly felt that Lin Juangui, in formal wear, exuded an aloofness that kept others at a distance.
Ge Miao lowered his voice to remind Lin Juangui, “Mr. Mu has work to attend to. He asked me to coordinate with you on the story. If outsiders ask how you two met, you can say your family encountered some trouble, and Mr. Mu kindly helped you. Since your pheromones matched, you ended up together.”
“Okay, I understand.”
This explanation wasn’t entirely a lie—it merely omitted some details and presented the outcome. Lin Juangui didn’t need to memorize it rigidly.
The style of the Federal Central Star resembled the sci-fi movies Lin Juangui had watched before.
Skyscrapers stood tall, their steel and glass reflecting cold light. Aircraft weaved through the sky, and the star roads twisted and turned, seemingly endless.
Lin Juangui knew this wasn’t a dream. He had to climb his way up using this method.
Mu Zhang and Lin Juangui went to take photos first.
The photographer asked them to move closer and commented, “Why do you two look like strangers when this is supposed to be a wedding photo?”
Lin Juangui gave a somewhat embarrassed smile, "Sorry, neither of us are very used to being in front of the camera."
With that, Lin Juangui turned his head slightly toward Mu Zhang and added, "We still have to go to the hospital for the medical check-up later, so let's not waste too much time here, okay?"
Mu Zhang hadn't expected Lin Juangui to get into the role so quickly, and his tone of voice matched the gentle tone typical of an Omega.
As the Alpha was impressed by Lin Juangui's acting skills, the corners of his lips curled up slightly. The photographer immediately captured that moment, capturing the only photo of Lin Juangui and Mu Zhang together.
In the Federation, the marriage process for Alphas and Omegas is quite complex, and a pre-marital medical check-up is mandatory to be responsible to both parties.
Lin Juangui took off his suit jacket and hung it over his arm, trying to psych himself up. After all, he had looked over the pre-marital check-up process and noticed it even included a mental health evaluation.
Well aware of his own mental health issues, Lin Juangui carefully recalled some of the tests he had taken in the past and mentally rehearsed multiple scenarios of conversations with a psychologist.
But he hadn't anticipated the Federation's technology to be so advanced—while filling out the questionnaire, it was connected to a lie detector. Only when the answers aligned with Lin Juangui's true thoughts would he pass.
Lin Juangui tried his best to remain calm, but during the psychological assessment, every part of his body was monitored and the data analyzed. Even if he were a natural-born liar, it would be useless.
When he received the report, Lin Juangui's mood visibly sank. Mu Zhang had clearly also learned the results from the doctor.
Depression, malnutrition, underdeveloped gestational sac, temporary difficulty conceiving.
This Omega was practically useless, aside from his unique pheromones.
But Mu Zhang didn’t need anything else from him regardless.
On their way to the marriage registration office, Mu Zhang said, "None of this will affect the marriage registration. Just sign an affidavit, and it’ll be settled. Weren’t you smiling quite happily during the photo session earlier? Keep that up."
When they arrived at the marriage registration office, the staff member frowned after reading the prenuptial agreement and asked, "Mr. Lin, this agreement offers no benefits to the Omega, and you won’t receive any alimony after a divorce. If you need assistance, we have dedicated staff who can contact the Omega Assistance Association for you..."
"No need," Lin Juangui replied, his smiling eyes making him look like a deceived, ignorant young man. "I have my own shortcomings as well. My decision to marry Mr. Mu wasn’t for his wealth. We’ll live well together, so please don’t worry."
Mu Zhang watched Lin Juangui spin his lies, feeling that things were getting more and more interesting. A faint smile played on his lips as he agreed with a simple "Mm."
The staff member glanced back and forth between them. No matter how they looked at it, the Omega seemed more earnest than the Alpha, showing exceptionally high expectations for the marriage.
Since both parties had already reached an agreement, the marriage registration office had no objections.
Once the process was complete, Lin Juangui held the marriage certificate, looking at the photo of him and Mu Zhang, thinking that this was nothing more than a game.
His goal was to clear the level. As for everything else, it was not part of his considerations.
