Chapter 92: He Still Wants to Be the Other Man

When Li Wangyue was released from the seat, he was so dizzy he nearly threw up.

Zhao Bing, however, was having a blast and wanted to go again. He was just about to turn on the music when Ting Zhenxi stopped him.

Li Wangyue caught his breath, instinctively grabbing hold of the armrest next to him as his heart raced. Only after it stopped did he realize he was holding Ting Zhenxi’s wrist.

"Why didn’t your seat spin?" Li Wangyue looked at Ting Zhenxi and Shang Wendu, who had barely moved.

Ting Zhenxi helped him unbuckle the restraint that had locked him to the seat, fastening it to the backrest instead. "Once you've experienced something like this, you learn how to avoid it."

"Then why didn’t you tell me?" Li Wangyue complained.

"I wanted you to experience it too."

Li Wangyue's clothes were a mess, and the memory of being locked in that seat was so freaky that his heart hadn't calmed down yet.

Zhao Bing, however, was still craving more. "I still say it wasn't intense enough. It couldn't hold a candle to the thrill of a drop tower. Tsk, I'll have to get it modified again someday."

This car was Zhao Bing's masterpiece, modified many times. His greatest pride was the suspension system—no matter how violently things shook inside, the outside stayed rock solid.

Li Wangyue knew they were still talking about that drop-tower seat from earlier, but the way it was phrased still rubbed him the wrong way.

What surprised him even more was that Zhao Bing had written this whole weird system himself.

"I wrote it when I was 19." Zhao Bing lounged in the back seat, raising an eyebrow. "That's why this system is called 1923."

Ji Zhijia asked casually, "So what's the 23 for?"

Zhao Bing replied, "It's the length of the thing you'll see tonight."

"... " Ji Zhijia shot back, "In what unit? Millimeters?"

Zhao Bing was at a loss for words.

Shang Wendu laughed. This was the first time someone had talked back to Zhao Bing and left him speechless, and he enjoyed seeing Zhao Bing at a loss.

"Are you sure it's the first time you've been talked back to?" Ji Zhijia's face was full of regret. "Never gone down on anyone? Our Young Master Zhao is so selfish, only looking out for your own pleasure, with zero service attitude."

Zhao Bing didn't take the bait at all. Instead, he reminisced, "Speaking of blowjobs, we even had a side bet—guess how many times you guys would do it on your wedding day."

"Oh? So how many did you bet on?" Ji Zhijia asked eagerly.

Zhao Bing said, "I believe in my buddy's stamina. 17 times a day is more than enough."

As soon as he said that, Ji Zhijia laughed so hard he bent over, and even Shang Wendu's lips curled slightly.

"17 times?" Ji Zhijia looked as if he had heard the biggest joke. "We've hit more than that in a single day even when we were ignoring each other. Who are you trying to insult?"

Zhao Bing had tried to one-up him but got shut down again, so he pouted and shut up.

Ji Zhijia picked up a glass of wine, savoring the moment. "I'm starting to like this car. It's full of the smell of victory."

He looked up and saw four buttons labeled 1, 9, 2, 3 above each seat.

"What's this?" Ji Zhijia touched it curiously but didn't press.

"1 skips the track." Shang Wendu said, unfolding the disposable raincoat and casually draping it over his left shoulder.

Ji Zhijia pressed it, and sure enough, the music switched.

"Then what's 9?" Ji Zhijia was even more curious.

    "Lighting." Shang Wendu answered.

Ji Zhijia pressed again. The interior lights suddenly dimmed, then shifted into a moody swirl of deep red and dark yellow, like stepping into some seedy club.

Without waiting for Shang Wendu to explain the rest, Ji Zhijia guessed, "So what's this? Ventilation?"

The second he pressed 2, Shang Wendu silently pulled the raincoat all the way over himself.

Ji Zhijia looked up in time to see the car roof open a small hatch, and a pipe emerged from somewhere, and liquid came raining down.

Ji Zhijia dodged, frantically wiping at his clothes. The substance was slightly sticky, spread easily, and had a cool tingle. A faint floral scent filled the air. The overhead "showerhead" kept spraying, soaking his clothes through. Suddenly, Ji Zhijia realized what it was——

    Lube.

He finally understood why Shang Wendu had grabbed a raincoat.

And that jerk just watched him make a mess without lifting a finger, even laughing.

Li Wangyue stood up to try and turn off the spray, but couldn't figure it out, so he had to use his jacket to block it.

Ji Zhijia took his anger out on Shang Wendu, lunging at him and smearing lube all over him. The two wrestled in a tangled mess, neither gaining the upper hand.

Li Wangyue didn't know whether to step in or not.

Ting Zhenxi pulled him back to sit down.

"But they're..." Li Wangyue was worried.

"It's fine." Ting Zhenxi reassured him, then pushed down a lever on the side, reminding him, "Lift your legs."

Li Wangyue didn't get it but lifted his legs anyway.

The car floor clicked open, splitting in two and retracting to the sides, revealing a steaming... sunken bathtub.

    Li Wangyue: "?"

The next second, the two tangled bodies rolled into the tub, sending water everywhere. Ting Zhenxi promptly held up the raincoat to shield them, and Li Wangyue leaned closer to him.

"How does his car have something like this..."

When they'd gotten in the car, Li Wangyue thought it was just a normal van.

After choking on a few mouthfuls of water, Ji Zhijia finally settled down. Shang Wendu grabbed his hair and pulled him up, then grabbed a towel to dry his hair.

"He just likes messing around." Ting Zhenxi reached over and wiped the water off Li Wangyue's face.

"I hereby dub it Zhao Bing's Mobile Fortress." Zhao Bing struck a dramatic pose.

"Don't you mean 'castle'?" Li Wangyue said.

"Fortress." Shang Wendu pulled Ji Zhijia out of the tub, kicked him onto the handrail, and closed the floor hatch. "Guess what a fortress is for?"

    Li Wangyue shook his head.

"To take hits, of course." Ji Zhijia rolled his eyes, his hair and clothes completely soaked.

Zhao Bing was full of praise: "Ever since I got it, my success rate at picking people up has shot through the roof. Sometimes I can't even be bothered to get a hotel room—I just do it on the road. If you need it, just say the word, I'll lend it to you to use."

Li Wangyue: "...No thanks, no need."

Ji Zhijia had resigned himself to going back soaking wet, but the car actually had a changing room.

"Of course it does," Zhao Bing said with an expression like "you've never seen the world." "It's a car meant for fun. I have to let people shower and change before they go home, right? You don't expect me to toss someone out on the street in disheveled clothes, do you?"

Ji Zhijia gritted his teeth, swallowed the humiliation, and went to change in silence.

The car stopped midway. Zhao Bing had made plans to race with someone and left first.

Li Wangyue didn't dare relax the entire time, afraid the car might have some other hidden mechanism.

Ji Zhijia went to the airport to return to the capital. Shang Wendu got off at Yunling. Only Li Wangyue and Ting Zhenxi were left in the car.

Li Wangyue's pant cuffs were a little wet, so Ting Zhenxi turned on the heater to dry them off.

Li Wangyue looked around: "This place really has everything."

He had a reasonable suspicion that if Zhao Bing wanted to, he could even cook a full banquet right in the car.

"If you like it, have Zhao Bing open-source the system for you and mod your own car," Ting Zhenxi said.

"It's not that big a deal," Li Wangyue replied. "And he said I could borrow it if I wanted. No need to make a whole new one."

"If he gave it to you, would you actually dare take it? There are more cameras in here than at your driving test."

"...?" That hadn't occurred to Li Wangyue.

"What is it? Do you think he's not that kind of person?" Ting Zhenxi chuckled.

Li Wangyue was speechless, because he felt Zhao Bing was capable of anything.

Li Wangyue looked up at the four buttons again. The last button, 3, had never been pushed.

Curious, he asked Ting Zhenxi what that button did.

Ting Zhenxi told him to try it himself.

Li Wangyue immediately shook his head.

Ting Zhenxi reached out and pressed it. Li Wangyue instinctively flinched and raised his arm to shield himself.

    But nothing happened.

Li Wangyue cautiously opened his eyes.

He only saw Ting Zhenxi's smug side profile.

    "...What happened?" Li Wangyue asked.

"Nothing happened," Ting Zhenxi shrugged. "But the way you looked scared was pretty cute."

Li Wangyue shoved him without a word.

The driver dropped them off at their doorstep. Ting Zhenxi didn't get out. Li Wangyue tried to open the door, but it was still locked.

Ting Zhenxi unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned closer. "Bro, let's play a game."

Li Wangyue saw the mischievous glint in his eyes and immediately pressed his hand down. "You said there are surveillance cameras here."

Ting Zhenxi held his hand back and said nothing for a long time.

Li Wangyue noticed his unusual demeanor. After hesitating a moment, he asked, "What's the matter?"

Ting Zhenxi asked, "When are you going to have dinner with your mom?"

"...I haven't decided. Sometime early next month," Li Wangyue said. "What are you really trying to say?"

But Ting Zhenxi didn't answer his question. "The divorce proceedings are done. Ting Huayi is as good as dead. Our legal brotherly relationship no longer exists."

    Li Wangyue said nothing.

Ting Zhenxi: "Good. Because I never saw you as my brother in the first place."

Li Wangyue suddenly withdrew his hand. "...Then what are we now?"

He saw the smile flicker in Ting Zhenxi's eyes.

The roof sprinklers burst on with a "whoosh," and a full-on shower of water poured down from above, drenching Li Wangyue completely before he even knew what hit him. Meanwhile, the man beside him, who had quickly put on a raincoat, laughed heartily.

"Now you know what 3 does," Ting Zhenxi said. "If you'd asked for a title like that in Zhao Bing's car, you'd have ended up washed off and thrown out."

Li Wangyue pushed open the car door and stormed off.

Soaking wet, he went inside, planning to shower. But as soon as he entered the bathroom, he was followed. He tried to shut him out but couldn't manage it.

"Get out," Li Wangyue pushed him.

His hand was taken. Ting Zhenxi interlocked their fingers one by one, then wrapped his arms around him from behind. "You look so good like this."

"...Let go." Li Wangyue's voice lowered.

Ting Zhenxi tilted his chin up. Directly in front of them was the mirror above the sink. "Take a look."

The black funeral suit, the white shirt beneath now semi-transparent from the water, clung wetly to his body, rising and falling with each breath.

Li Wangyue turned his face away, unwilling to look. The man behind him whispered with a soft laugh in his ear. "What are you hiding from?"

"I need to change. Let go first..." Li Wangyue struggled.

"You look better wet," Ting Zhenxi dismissed his protest, his gaze falling on Li Wangyue's trembling abdomen. He reached out and touched it, causing him to shiver. "Gorgeous."

Li Wangyue instinctively hunched away to avoid his hand, but the warm body pressed tightly behind him left him no room to escape.

"Lean on this," Ting Zhenxi took his hand and placed it on the counter. "You won't fall. Just relax."

"How can I relax with you like this..." Li Wangyue ground his teeth.

Ting Zhenxi laughed. "It's fine if you can't. We can take it slow."

"After all, the funeral's over. We have all the time in the world."

    "You... bastard."

"Bro, you're really tense. I can feel it," Ting Zhenxi deliberately whispered in his ear.

"Stop talking... don't say another word..." Li Wangyue closed his eyes.

Ting Zhenxi chuckled softly, sweat dripping onto his own bare back as he leaned down to bite the side of Li Wangyue's neck.

"Brother, what do you think we are?" Ting Zhenxi licked the tooth mark. "Would you do this to your own brother?"

Li Wangyue clenched his fists, his waist trembling.

"Well, I would anyway," Ting Zhenxi said.

"You're not normal," Li Wangyue forced out from his throat.

"That's perfect, normal isn't what I want either." Ting Zhenxi wrapped his arms around Li Wangyue's unsteady body. "I only want you."

Li Wangyue was curled up on the sofa wrapped in a blanket.

The sound of water boiling came from the kitchen, and the whole room smelled like ginger.

Ting Zhenxi took out the hair dryer, knelt on one knee on the arm of the sofa, lifted him up to sit properly, and started drying his hair.

Li Wangyue pushed his hand away, wanting to do it himself.

Ting Zhenxi dodged while holding the hair dryer, his fingers ran through Li Wangyue's wet hair, lowering his head to inhale the scent.

The ginger tea was ready, a cup for each of them.

Ting Zhenxi set the cup beside him, naturally lifted the blanket, slipped inside, and leaned against him.

Li Wangyue had been on his phone, but when a tall shadow loomed over him, he had to put it down.

    "What movie?" he asked.

Li Wangyue didn't know either; he had just randomly picked one. He glanced at it. "Pan's Labyrinth," he said.

    "Is it good?"

"I don't know. It seems like a fantasy world." Li Wangyue figured it was a horror film—the scenes were very dark, and the plot was a bit oppressive.

"Who were you just texting?" Ting Zhenxi took a sip of ginger tea.

"You're checking my phone again," Li Wangyue sighed.

"What exactly do you want? Didn't we agree... that you'd stop monitoring me?" Li Wangyue said.

He had been very distracted lately, feeling uncomfortable staying here. Ting Zhenxi asked him, and he admitted it felt strange, as if someone were always watching him.

Ting Zhenxi didn't say anything at the time, but afterward he removed the cameras from the room, and even disabled the tracking on Li Wangyue's phone.

Li Wangyue was surprised that he actually agreed.

"You think I don't know what you're doing just because of that?" Ting Zhenxi was very calm. "I know your whereabouts better than anyone else."

    "Then why did you bother..."

"I like it." Ting Zhenxi didn't bother to hide it. "Watching you this way gets me more excited."

"...Fine, keep being weird. You'll end up sick sooner or later."

"The one who's sick is you," Ting Zhenxi said.

The moment the words left his mouth, a strange silence fell over them.

Li Wangyue toyed with the cushion's tassel and said nothing more.

Ting Zhenxi took his hand and handed him his own phone. "Look. All turned off."

Unlike him, Ting Zhenxi's phone didn't even have a basic lock screen; Li Wangyue could open and scroll through it anytime.

Li Wangyue didn't understand why he was like this—not respecting others' privacy, and not really respecting his own either.

"There's nothing in the phone, what privacy is there to worry about?" Ting Zhenxi said.

"You... you've taken pictures before..." Li Wangyue couldn't finish.

But Ting Zhenxi really liked taking pictures of him.

Taking pictures of him trembling, crying, burying his face in the pillow and saying nothing.

Li Wangyue had wanted to smack the phone out of his hand many times, but Ting Zhenxi never let him.

"Brother looks so beautiful like this—I want to keep it," he said, kissing his neck and earlobe.

Li Wangyue couldn't resist at all; Ting Zhenxi said he wouldn't capture his face, so he just let him do it.

"That's on another phone," Ting Zhenxi said.

    "Where?"

    "In the safe."

"...Since when do we have a safe in our house?"

"See? That's how safe it is—you don't even know where it is." Ting Zhenxi spread his hands.

    ......

Li Wangyue made no ceremony of it; he carefully went through everything, and sure enough, there was no longer any tracking on his phone.

"I just told my mom that my friend's family stuff is sorted out, and my mom and I will have dinner together early next month."

"Mm." Ting Zhenxi nodded and continued watching the movie.

Li Wangyue traced the cup handle with his thumb, looking down at the person leaning against him.

The movie's dialogue gradually became intense.

The little girl was bravely fighting Pan, but slowly losing ground.

"Ting Zhenxi," Li Wangyue called softly.

His voice was very small, almost drowned out by the background music of the movie.

But Ting Zhenxi heard it and looked up.

Li Wangyue met his eyes, hesitated for a moment, then said, "I don't want my mom to know."

Ting Zhenxi turned back to the movie. "Suit yourself."

Li Wangyue's lips moved, but he didn't say anything else.

Ting Zhenxi continued, "Anyway, being the side piece, I do have to keep it a secret."
