    Chapter 130

Chapter 130: The Twenty-first Day of Being Thrown into a Vapid CEO Novel

An Yi leaned out of the tent, and the cool raindrops instantly dampened the soft strands of hair on his forehead, bringing a refreshing sensation.

He looked at the curtain of rain pouring down like a breach in the heavens, and at the pitch-black sky that had swallowed all traces of starlight, yet there was no sign of panic on his face. Instead, he smiled, his tone calm and almost composed: "Thanks, but you go ahead. I'll wait a little longer."

The two men, seeing his stubbornness, gave him a look as if he were an idiot, shook their heads, and, with no time to persuade further, ducked their heads and dashed into the vast curtain of rain.

Soon, the only things left on the vast mountaintop platform were An Yi's solitary tent and a camp light casting a warm yellow glow amid the wind and rain.

The fierce wind whipped the rain, battering the tent violently and producing a dense noise, as if the whole world had been reduced to this clamorous downpour.

    Comments section:

"Wow! Alone guarding his tent on the mountaintop! An Yi is so tough!"

"This rain is way too heavy! Kind of scary! Nothing bad will happen, right?"

    "Isn't An Yi scared?"

"Bold and confident? I feel like An Yi isn't afraid of anything."

    "Yeah, why isn't he scared?"

"Lonely yet romantic... I want to watch the rain with him."

"Is he really not going back? That's not romantic at all! This kind of behavior is just stupid. (Shrugs)"

    "..."

    An Yi: ...

Of course, An Yi wasn't scared.

He had superpowers and martial arts that far exceeded ordinary people. Even if a real flash flood broke out, he could easily escape unscathed. Since he was already here, even without a meteor shower, enjoying the view of this rain-soaked, isolated mountaintop, feeling the immense power of heaven and earth, was a unique experience.

He pulled back into the tent, and with an almost imperceptible flick of his fingers, the rainwater on the strands of his hair instantly evaporated as if driven off by an invisible force, leaving them dry again.

He simply opened the tent flap a little, and by the light of the warm camp lantern, picked up a sketchbook he had brought along, leaning back on the inflatable sleeping pad and leisurely flipping through it.

Outside, the wind and rain raged, storming against the small tent as if trying to devour this last island in the world.

The warm yellow glow of the camp lantern cast An Yi's silhouette as he read quietly onto the tent fabric, creating a strange yet serene contrast with the apocalyptic clamor outside.

An Yi's fingers turned the glossy pages of the sketchbook, producing a faint rustling sound, completely absorbed in his own world.

His portable power bank was in the corner, and his phone, having run out of battery after shooting the sunset and checking star charts for a long time, had automatically shut down.

He glanced at the black screen but didn't mind. Being undisturbed at this moment was exactly what he wanted.

However, in the midst of this chaos almost entirely ruled by the sound of wind and rain, An Yi's fingers, turning a page, paused almost imperceptibly for a moment.

A very faint sound, different from the wind and rain, was stubbornly penetrating the thick curtain of rain, reaching his supernaturally sharp senses.

It was the sound of someone walking unsteadily, with deep and shallow footsteps, trudging with great difficulty.

The footsteps were heavy and faltering, occasionally accompanied by suppressed, ragged gasps torn apart by the wind and rain.

Someone was climbing the deserted mountaintop with great effort, braving the storm.

An Yi frowned slightly, put down his sketchbook, and listened for a moment, confirming that the sound was indeed moving toward his location.

He stood up and leaned out of the tent. The fierce rain lashed at him but was deflected by his power.

Using the faint, diffused light of the camp lantern and the occasional lightning that split the night sky, he squinted and looked toward the path up the mountain.

A blurry figure was moving along the slippery mountain path.

The person was already soaked through, clothes clinging tightly to his body, outlining a wretched silhouette.

Although the light was dim and the rain blurred his vision, An Yi recognized that figure at a single glance—

    Gu Mingzhi.

A flicker of genuine surprise crossed An Yi's mind.

Was he here because of him? How did he know An Yi was on the mountain?

Finally, Gu Mingzhi rushed onto the platform. He was panting heavily, his chest rising and falling violently. Rainwater streamed down his wet black hair, trickling over his pale cheeks and tense jawline.

He looked up, through the dense curtain of rain, and saw An Yi standing at the tent entrance, looking surprised.

For a moment, Gu Mingzhi's eyes first burst forth with a wild joy and relief, as if someone who had been extremely terrified had finally found what he was looking for. But then, that relief quickly gave way to a towering rage and lingering fear!

He strode up to An Yi in a few steps, not even having time to steady himself, and roared hoarsely, his voice twisted by extreme fear and anger:

"An Yi! What the hell are you thinking?!"

He had never spoken to An Yi in such a tone before. He seemed enraged, but also terrified, his whole body trembling uncontrollably.

"In such heavy rain! With lightning warnings! Geological disaster warnings! The whole city knows to take shelter indoors! And you're staying alone in this desolate mountain? Waiting to die?!"

He roared hoarsely, and raindrops, perhaps mixed with other burning liquids, slid down his face.

"I called you! Called you so many times! It was off the whole time! Off the whole time! Do you know how... how I..."

He gasped for breath, as if an invisible hand was squeezing his heart tightly, making it impossible for him to speak properly: "I thought something had happened to you! I thought you were...!"

    He couldn't continue.

The fear of the connection being completely cut off, of imagining all kinds of terrible possibilities, had completely crushed him when he drove to the foot of the mountain and saw the closed entrance and the torrential rain.

He had almost instinctively abandoned his car, climbing up like a madman against the thunderstorm!

All the terror, anxiety, and despair on the way, upon finally seeing An Yi safe and sound, even looking leisurely, turned into uncontrollable fury.

An Yi stood quietly at the tent entrance, watching this man who had completely lost his composure, soaked through, as miserable as a drenched dog yet snarling at him.

Rainwater dripped from his own hair, but he seemed not to feel it.

He saw the uncontrollable, intense fear and dread in Gu Mingzhi's bloodshot eyes. He also heard the nearly broken tremor beneath the hoarse roar.

Gu Mingzhi suddenly reached out, as if to grab An Yi's shoulders and shake him hard, but just as he was about to touch him, he stopped abruptly. His fingers clenched into a fist, and he slammed it hard against the tent pole, producing a dull thud.

He lowered his head, his shoulders trembling violently, as if he had finally exhausted all his strength. The furious roar suddenly turned into an uncontrollable, broken sob.

"You don't know... I really... really was so worried..."

His voice dropped, thick with nasal congestion and crying, like a child who had gotten lost and finally found his way home, but still felt wronged and scared: "I was so scared... An Yi... I was afraid that when I found you..."

He choked up, unable to continue, just repeating: "I was so scared..."
