“Aaaahhh! Gu Mingzhi is here! He climbed the mountain in the pouring rain!”
“Holy crap holy crap! He cried! He actually cried! So good!”
“Wuwuwu he was scared to death, literally scared to death! He couldn't get through on the phone and it was pouring rain; he must have thought An Yi had an accident!”
“First time seeing Little Uncle lose his temper like this, but I feel so sorry for him! He was genuinely terrified!”
“An Yi, look what you did! You scared a whole Mad Dog into a crying mess! (But it's so good to ship) (lol jk)”
“Hug him quick, An Yi!”
“This is YOUR dog!!!!”
“......”
An Yi looked at the man before him, a total emotional wreck, at his pale face washed by the rain, his hair dripping continuously, and his slightly trembling shoulders.
The usual gentle smile on his face gradually faded.
An extremely subtle emotion, like a tiny pebble dropped into an ancient well, sent a faint ripple across the calm lake of his heart.
He was silent for a moment, and then he reached out his hand. Instead of pushing away the man who had lost control, he gently, almost soothingly, hugged him back.
Gu Mingzhi's body stiffened abruptly. All his crying and sobbing caught in his throat, as if a pause button had been pressed.
He lifted his head in disbelief. Rain blurred his vision, but he could clearly feel how tightly the arms held his back, and the warmth radiating from An Yi's body, so different from his own ice-cold clothes.
An Yi... hugged him?
An Yi didn't say anything, just held him like that, his palm gently patted his wet, cold back twice: "There, there..."
The warm yellow light from the tent outlined the silhouette of the two embracing in the torrential rain, surrounding them in a white curtain of rain, as if shutting out the entire world.
Gu Mingzhi's rigid body slowly relaxed. An immense exhaustion, like surviving a disaster, and an indescribable bittersweet warmth swept over him.
Almost greedily, he drank in the warmth and the rare tenderness in An Yi's arms, burying his face deep into An Yi's neck, breathing in the crisp scent of rain and An Yi's cool, clean smell.
His tears welled up again, mingling with the cold rain, but no longer from fear—rather from an indescribable, bittersweet grievance and relief.
An Yi pulled him into the tent. Their embracing shadows swayed faintly under the camp light.
“I’m sorry...” Gu Mingzhi sobbed in a low voice near An Yi's ear, his tone muffled: “I shouldn't have yelled at you. I just... I really just...”
“I know.” An Yi's voice was very calm, sounding in his ear, cutting through the sound of rain, clearly entering his ears: “My phone ran out of battery. It was raining too hard, I didn’t want to go down.”
Gu Mingzhi tightened his arms, holding An Yi even closer, as if he wanted to meld him into his own flesh and blood, never to be separated again.
Gu Mingzhi slightly lifted his head. Rain slid down his angular face, dripping onto An Yi's face. His eyes were still red, but shining brightly, deeply gazing into An Yi's eyes, which seemed even clearer and calmer in the rain.
An immense, indescribable impulse suddenly seized Gu Mingzhi.
He stopped thinking, stopped hesitating, following the most primal instinct. He lowered his head, trembling but with unerring precision, and kissed An Yi's lips, which were especially cold from the rain.
This kiss tasted of the salt of rain and the salt of tears. It was clumsy, eager, yet filled with an almost religious, all-or-nothing fervor.
An Yi's body paused almost imperceptibly.
Then, amidst the raging storm, in the warm halo cast by the lonely tent, he slowly... closed his eyes.
All around, the storm raged on, the wind howled, thunder rolled in the distant mountains.
But in this small world surrounded by wind and rain, only their intense heartbeats, interwoven breaths, and that kiss, chilled by the icy rain yet searing hot enough to brand the soul, remained.
They kissed in the storm.

“!!!!!!!!! They're kissing! They're finally kissing!”
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
“In the storm! Drenched to the bone! And they kissed!”
“Aaaaa I'm dead! This scene is so hot!”
“An Yi didn't push away! He closed his eyes! For all intents and purposes, that's a yes!”
“Wuwuwu Gu Dog, you finally got to kiss him!”
“Ha! Girls! Inspiration's here! Come to my profile!”
“The rain tastes sweet! The tears taste sweet! I'm grinning from ear to ear!”
“......”
After a long moment, until they were both nearly breathless, Gu Mingzhi reluctantly released An Yi's lips.
He pressed his forehead against An Yi's, their noses brushing, breathing heavily. He looked at An Yi's lips, also wet from the rain and glistening with moisture, his eyes brimming with almost tangible, overwhelming love and ecstasy.
An Yi slowly opened his eyes, his long eyelashes holding tiny droplets of water.
His breath was also slightly uneven, and a faint blush seemed to have appeared on his cheeks due to lack of oxygen, though it quickly dissipated in the cold mist.
He looked at the incredibly bright eyes so close to him, which clearly reflected his own wet appearance.
Suddenly, he let out a very faint, almost inaudible laugh.
That smile was faint, but like moonlight piercing dark clouds, it instantly illuminated Gu Mingzhi's entire world.
Gu Mingzhi grinned like an idiot, like a kid who just got the best candy in the world. He couldn't help leaning in again, planting a quick, firm kiss on An Yi's lips with a smack.
Inside the tent, the air was humid and charged. The kiss from earlier, tasting of rain and raw emotion, seemed to still linger on their lips.
Gu Mingzhi's heart still pounded wildly in his chest, pounding so hard it felt like it would crack his ribs.
He stared at An Yi hungrily, so close. Those eyes, usually placid, now seemed misted over, appearing deeper.
However, after the intense rush of emotion, practical concerns came rushing back.
Outside the tent, the storm showed no sign of letting up; instead, it sounded even more menacing, like countless giant hands were trying to rip the tent apart, making a tearing, screeching sound.
The occasional lightning bolt splitting the night sky lit the inside of the tent with a stark white flash, immediately followed by rolling thunder that seemed to make the ground tremble slightly.
Gu Mingzhi snapped out of his passionate haze, his face immediately turning stern again.
He gripped An Yi's arm tightly, his tone urgent: “No! An Yi, we can't stay here! The rain is too heavy, the thunderstorm hasn't stopped, the mountain top is too dangerous! If there's a mudslide or landslide or something... we need to get off this mountain right now!”
