Chapter 134: The Twenty-Fifth Day of Being Thrown into a Classic CEO Novel (Bonus Story 1)

You can't hide the truth forever.

Gu Mingzhi's frequent trips back and forth between home and abroad, with stays growing longer and longer, even starting to settle in a European country known for its art and romance—the place An Yi had chosen to study painting—had long since caught the attention and suspicion of Gu Chengsi and his wife.

By chance, a trusted lackey sent by Gu Chengsi to "check in" on his younger brother's itinerary somehow snapped photos of Gu Mingzhi and An Yi walking side by side on a foreign street. In the image, Gu Mingzhi looked at An Yi with such focus and tenderness that it seemed to overflow the screen—way more than just uncle and nephew.

Then, Gu Mingzhi even kissed An Yi on the cheek.

    Zhao Manyin: "!!!!!!!"

    Gu Chengsi: "!!!!!!!"

    Is this for real?!

    They even kissed!

Zhao Manyin and Gu Chengsi, as if they'd found some ammunition, quickly sent the photos to Gu Chengzai.

The Gu family immediately exploded in chaos.

"You shameless brats! The two of you... the two of you!!!" Gu Chengzai shook with rage, his face purple. He banged his cane furiously on the floor, producing a dull, terrifying thud as if he might swing it at Gu Mingzhi and An Yi at any moment.

"Gu Mingzhi, who is he?! He's An Yi! Your so-called nephew! How dare you... how dare you commit such an immoral, scandalous act that defies all moral decency and shames our family! The Gu family's face is ruined by you two!"

The old man was nearly choking with fury. Zhao Manyin quickly stepped forward to soothe him while shooting them a look of disdain mixed with smug satisfaction at the calm-faced Gu Mingzhi and the quietly sitting An Yi.

"Dad, calm down. Getting angry over this isn't worth your health." Gu Chengsi feigned a look of pain, pointing at Gu Mingzhi:

"Mingzhi, you've disappointed us so much! How could you... how could you do this to An Yi? He has no parents, grew up in our family—we've been good to him! This is taking advantage of him, isn't it?!"

Gu Xinghui stood by, a complicated look in his eyes as he looked at An Yi, then at his uncle. His lips moved, but in the end, he said nothing.

After Meng Nianwei ran off pregnant, he had become much more subdued, seemingly without the energy to care about these matters.

So... An Yi really didn’t like Meng Nianwei; he had read too much into it.

But why didn't An Yi just tell him outright that he and our uncle were together?

Was he setting me up to misunderstand so he could laugh at me?

Gu Mingzhi looked up, his gaze calm but resolute: "An Yi and I love each other."

"In love with each other?!" Gu Chengzai scoffed as if he'd heard the biggest joke ever. He turned sharply to the silent An Yi and barked, "An Yi! Tell me! Did you use some trick to seduce Mingzhi?! I knew it... I knew you'd be nothing but trouble!"

"Dad! What nonsense are you saying?" Gu Mingzhi was also angered.

Everyone’s focus instantly fell on An Yi.

    An Yi: ...

An Yi wore a simple white shirt, sitting on the living room sofa, light and shadow dividing a clear line across him.

He raised his eyes, calmly sweeping over the trembling Gu Chengzai, the hypocritical Gu Chengsi and his wife, and finally landing on Gu Mingzhi, who was pressing his lips together but whose gaze was locked firmly on him.

He spoke slowly, his voice clear and gentle, yet like an ice cube dropped into sizzling oil: "Seduce? What's that supposed to mean?"

He turned to Gu Mingzhi: "Did I?"

Gu Mingzhi’s ears suddenly reddened, the coldness on his face fading.

The living room fell into dead silence.

Gu Chengzai sputtered, pointing at An Yi, his fingers trembling: "You... you... You're shameless! We raised you for nothing! Get out! Get out of the Gu family! Don't ever come back!"

"Dad! This can't be all An Yi's fault—it's clearly Mingzhi who..." Gu Chengsi tried to pour fuel on the fire.

"You shut up too!" Gu Chengzai roared, clearly at the peak of his rage.

But a barely-there smile flickered on An Yi's face.

He stepped forward two paces, took out a bank card and a document from the bag he was carrying, and placed them gently on the coffee table in the center of the living room, pushing them toward Gu Chengzai.

"Grandpa Gu," he still used that title, "I appreciate everything the Gu family has done for me. I've calculated all expenses, including tuition and living costs, generously, plus interest, and put into this card."

He paused, his gaze sweeping over the stunned Gu family members, and continued calmly: "The amount is more than enough. You can have your lawyer verify it. From today onward, I'm done with the Gu family."

From under the document, he pulled out a statement he had prepared and signed, placing it on the card: "This is a statement voluntarily renouncing the foster relationship. From now on, I have no further ties with the Gu family."

He had originally planned to bring this up later, but since things had come to a head, he would do it now.

This series of moves was as smooth as silk, cold and almost ruthless, completely stunning everyone.

They had anticipated An Yi crying, defending himself, begging for mercy, or even dragging Gu Mingzhi down with him. They never expected him to so cleanly, with this almost transactional "pay-and-be-done" approach, cut himself off from the Gu family!

Didn’t he want the Gu family’s support? Didn’t he want their wealth?!

Gu Chengzai stared at the card and the statement, his chest heaving violently. His face went from pale to red to white, and he couldn’t speak for a moment.

This gesture of total lack of attachment, of completely severing ties, was more infuriating and insulting than any crying or argument.

Did he think he could just walk in and out of the Gu family as he pleased?! And paying them off to settle it?!

Though he had never really cared about An Yi over the years—could even be described as indifferent—An Yi’s move to leave now and return the foster care expenses would invite gossip!

    What about the family name?!

"You... you..." Gu Chengzai stammered, and finally slammed the table: "Get out! Take your money and get the hell out! The Gu family doesn’t need your measly pittance! I'll consider it a waste raising such an ungrateful wretch!"

An Yi gave a slight nod, his face still expressionless. He turned and walked toward the living room exit.

"An Yi!" Gu Mingzhi rushed after him.

"Gu Mingzhi! If you dare take one step out, I disown you!" Gu Chengzai roared behind him in fury.

Gu Mingzhi’s steps didn’t stop even for a moment; he strode straight out after An Yi.
