Chapter 303: The Eleventh Day in the ABO World
by 三根木Chapter 303: Day Eleven in the ABO World
An Yi glanced at him, didn't decline, and smoothly took the menu, rattling off a few dishes to the waiter.
His voice was pleasant, and when he pronounced those unfamiliar words, there was something uniquely charming about it.
Wei Yang couldn't understand, but he just thought it sounded nice, propping his chin on both hands, watching An Yi without blinking.
When the food arrived, he forked some up and took a bite, savoring it slowly, then his eyes lit up instantly, and he praised without reservation: "Wow! This is so delicious! Mr. An, you really know what to order!"
An Yi laughed out loud: "Really? Then have some more."
"Okay!" Wei Yang agreed without hesitation.
"There's a new barbecue stall on the back street by our school—the taste is amazing! Next time... uh, I mean, that kind of smoky, bustling vibe is totally different from here, but both are great."
He caught himself just in time, not letting the obviously unrealistic words "I'll take you there next time" slip out, but the longing on his face was plain as day.
An Yi's eyes crinkled into a smile: "I'll go check it out when I have time."
Wei Yang's eyes widened, and he immediately said: "Great! Then when you go, come along—my treat!"
He then went on to talk about his killer dunk in a basketball game, and when he got excited, he couldn't help acting it out. Realizing that wasn't the right place for it, he sheepishly scratched the back of his head, flashed a smile, and straightened up again, but the excited sparkle lingered in his eyes and on his brow for a long time.
After he finished eating, he carefully nudged the decorative carrot swan from his plate to the middle with his fork: "Is this a swan? It's so cute."
An Yi looked at that adorably plump carrot swan, and the corner of his mouth seemed to twitch almost imperceptibly: "It's a swan..."
He paused, his gaze drifting over Wei Yang: "It really is cute."
----------
After dinner, An Yi drove Wei Yang back to the school gate.
"Thank you, Mr. An! Dinner was delicious!" Wei Yang got out of the car, stood by the car window, gave An Yi a bow of thanks, a smile he couldn't hold back on his face.
"Mm." An Yi nodded slightly: "Head on back."
Wei Yang opened his mouth, hesitated, then said: "...Uh, well... good night."
An Yi broke into a smile: "Good night."
Watching the black sedan merge into the traffic and disappear, Wei Yang still stood there, rubbing his face hard to make sure that what had just happened wasn't a dream.
He gave an excited little hop, then hummed a tune as he walked briskly back toward the dorm.
When he reached the dormitory building and passed the spot where they'd argued that afternoon, he couldn't help recalling their earlier conversation.
Hadn't they mentioned novels earlier?
Those two jerks had sneered something like "CEO falls for me?"
A novel about a CEO falling for me...?
Could that actually happen?!
Right! Novels!
Those stories about people of all genders and identities falling in love, all over the internet and in bookstores!
He wasn't usually into that stuff, but now... wasn't this a potential "how-to guide"?
Since so many people in real life thought he was reaching for the stars, why not look for inspiration and ideas in fiction?
What if... what if there were some universal tricks in there?
Otherwise, why would so many people love reading them?
Once that thought took hold, Wei Yang quickened his pace, practically sprinting back to the dorm.
In the dorm, An Xuan was wearing headphones and gaming, while the other two roommates—one was reading, and the other was doing laundry.
Seeing Wei Yang burst in, out of breath and eyes shining, they all froze for a moment.
"Oh~ Little Water Spirit, what's got you so fired up? That happy after dinner with my brother?" An Xuan paused his game and took off his headphones to tease.
Wei Yang grinned: "Of course I'm happy."
He didn't have time to deal with An Xuan, brushed him off with a quick reply, and rushed straight to his desk, opening his laptop and quickly typing keywords into the search bar: "Alpha," "Beta," "romance," "novel," "pursuit," "CEO"...
In an instant, a flood of information filled the screen.
Web novels of all genres and styles were everywhere, with titles more outrageous than the last—things like *The Fragrant Beta*, *I Bent the Top Alpha After Pretending to Be a Beta*, *The Spoiled Beta*...
Wei Yang's face grew slightly warm, but he still clicked on one of the most popular novels, tagged with "older partner," "sweet story," "crematorium for the pursuer," and "AB," and began reading with an almost reverent, explorer's mindset.
Though... "crematorium for the pursuer"? He had no idea what that meant.
At first, he was still a bit picky and skeptical, thinking the plot was over the top and unrealistic.
But as he kept reading, he gradually got sucked into the story, losing all track of time.
In the dead of night, the dorm lights were long off, leaving only a small glow of screen light coming from Wei Yang's bed.
He wore his headphones, completely immersed in the world of the novel.
He saw how the protagonists clumsily yet sincerely showed their affection, how they created "coincidences" and "chance encounters," how they moved the other person with small details, and he also saw some... intimate descriptions that made his face flush and his heart race.
In particular, across several popular novels, he noticed a recurring trope that seemed to be hailed as "classic"—no matter how aloof, powerful, or unapproachable an Alpha was, they seemed unable to resist certain specific, dependent, and affectionate terms of address from the object of their affection...
Like... "gege" (big brother).
The novels often described how, when an Omega or Beta protagonist softly called out "gege," even the coldest Alpha would have their heart stirred, ears turning red, their stern features softening, and they might even indulge in behavior that went against their usual principles.
Wei Yang stared in astonishment, deeply shaken.
So... that's how it could be?
He recalled how An Xuan, after receiving the transfer from An Yi, had groveled without a shred of shame—"Gege! Gege! Thank you, dear gege~~"—and how An Yi, though exasperated, hadn't seemed put off...
A bold, slightly embarrassing yet wildly exciting idea quietly sprouted in his mind.
He seemed... vaguely... to have found a thread?
Even though just imagining calling An Yi "gege" to his face made his cheeks burn and his limbs curl up in embarrassment...
But... this seemed like a path worth trying?
He turned off his phone and lay flat on the bed. In the faint light of dawn, his eyes were startlingly bright, with no trace of sleep.
His mind replayed the scenes from the novels over and over, along with An Yi's face.
He clumsily combined the two, imagining all sorts of possible scenarios, and the more he thought about it, the more he felt... maybe, he really could give it a try?
A mix of shyness, anticipation, and eagerness surged in his chest.
