Chapter 51 Stamp Collection Book
by 桃花引01Chapter 51: Stamp Album
Chen Shu suspected that Jiang Xiangqian had followed Lu Yun here. She knew from her past life how Jiang Xiangqian had pursued Lu Yun, and she didn't doubt Lu Yun at all. Under Jiang Xiangqian's shifty, guilty gaze, Chen Shu didn't dare say a word.
Say what? It wasn't that Chen Shu doubted him at all. If she brought up Lu Yun now and said he might like her, Jiang Xiangqian could use it as an excuse to break up with her. Chen Shu didn't want to break up right now. Even if they were going to split, it would have to wait until Jiang Xiangqian made more money. The more he made, the more she could squeeze out of him.
Chen Shu: "What are you staring at? Let's head back now!"
There was no way Jiang Xiangqian could find out about her thing with Zhou Jun.
Jiang Xiangqian felt a little disappointed, though he didn't know why.
Chen Qiao was annoyed that she only got half the gossip. Why did Chen Shu just clam up!
Lu Yun spotted Zhou Jun and Sun Chun at the market. The two had found a pretty secluded spot, and Lu Yun followed them, hanging back on one side.
Sun Chun said in a tearful voice, "Why are you here?"
Zhou Jun's heart ached for her. He said, "It's all my fault. I've made you miserable! Let's go back to the city, okay? Once I convince my family, I'll court you properly. I don't want you suffering out here in the countryside!"
Sun Chun: "Do you think my life here is suffering? No, I live a very happy life. It's not about having nice things, and money doesn't equal happiness!"
Zhou Jun looked at Sun Chun like she was a treasure. He said, "I know, of course I know money isn't what makes life happy! But can't you see how sincere I am? Come back to the city with me!"
Lu Yun's skin was crawling. What were these two doing here? Even TV drama lines weren't this cringe. At least the shows she'd been watching lately didn't make her feel like this.
Zhou Jun yelled, and Lu Yun nearly jumped.
Zhou Jun: "Do you really not give a damn about me?!"
Sun Chun wiped her tears, "It's not that I don't care about you. I just don't want to make you sad. Your family will never accept us being together."
Zhou Jun hugged Sun Chun excitedly, "As long as you say that, I'm not afraid of anything! If they don't agree, we don't need their blessing!"
Sun Chun quickly pushed Zhou Jun away, "No, how can you talk like that!"
Zhou Jun: "Right, I shouldn't say that. I don't care, I can't let you be wronged. Once I convince them, will you be my girl?"
Sun Chun hesitated for a long time, then gave Zhou Jun a little nod.
Zhou Jun let out another yell. Luckily, Lu Yun had some experience with this by now—this guy really liked to shout when he got excited.
Zhou Jun spun Sun Chun around in his arms, "I'm so happy! You're willing to be with me, you're willing to be with me!"
Lu Yun didn't want to watch them being all lovey-dovey and planned to go find Chen Qiao. But then Zhou Jun noticed the stamps Sun Chun was holding and wanted to take her to buy more. Sun Chun was a bit reluctant.
Lu Yun stopped in her tracks. She thought of the courtyard house, the dressing table, and Chen Shu, who was also at the market today. She kept following them!
Zhou Jun saw a stamp album at a stall that looked really nice and wanted to buy it for Sun Chun on the spot. It had a lot of stamps, but Sun Chun was still shaking her head no.
Zhou Jun: "Let's get this one!"
Sun Chun: "I don't want it!"
It was always like this—Zhou Jun would want to pay. Sun Chun's eyes had been hiding a smile, but when she saw Lu Yun, she nervously grabbed Zhou Jun's arm. Zhou Jun was still looking all pleased with himself. Lu Yun felt a bit awkward too, but the market wasn't just for them. It was perfectly reasonable for her to be browsing around!
Lu Yun and Sun Chun weren't close anyway. They'd barely exchanged a few words. Sun Chun wouldn't have guessed that Lu Yun was following her to watch the drama, would she?
Sun Chun said firmly, "Zhou Jun, I said I don't want it!"
Zhou Jun knew Sun Chun was about to get mad. He was deeply moved—Sun Chun was always like this. Thinking their relationship was about to take the next step, he couldn't risk upsetting her. He decided to buy it next time and put the stamp album down.
Zhou Jun: "Alright, we won't get it. Let's walk around and look some more."
The two kept browsing the market. Lu Yun walked over to the stall they'd just been at and crouched down. She didn't know what was wrong with Sun Chun—she didn't want this stamp album. Since she didn't want it, and the stall owner kept telling Lu Yun how cheap it was, Lu Yun just bought the stamp album. There were also some nice loose stamps at the stall, and Lu Yun bought those too.
Lu Yun met up with Chen Qiao. Chen Qiao had bought a ton of stuff too, but she looked a bit down!
Chen Qiao: "I was just about to get the juicy gossip when Chen Shu clammed up. It must be because of that man that she backed off. That man—oh my god—he's not your ex-fiancé from the arranged marriage, is he?"
Chen Qiao might have gotten the wrong gossip. Lu Yun couldn't tell her everything, so she just had to play it vague.
After a long day, Lu Yun was too tired to talk when she got home, but carrying all that stuff back made her happy. She took out each item one by one.
Lu Yun's dad liked the Soviet-style fur hat, and her mom liked the coat. Lu Yun watched them try them on—both looked great and both were really happy with them. After that was done, her dad finally looked at the other stuff Lu Yun had bought. She was a bit nervous about the dried beans and dried mushrooms since it was her first time buying them. She waited for her dad's verdict. As for her mom, she was like Lu Yun—not very good at picking these things. Cooking and grocery shopping at home were basically all her dad's job.
Lu's dad: "Excellent! Look at this quality, especially these mushrooms. There are even dried hazel mushrooms here—those are a great buy too!"
That evening, Lu's dad made her a chicken and mushroom stew with vermicelli. It was incredibly delicious. The dried hazel mushrooms tasted just as good as her dad had said.
Lu's dad lamented, "I should've bought more!"
Lu's mom: "This is enough. We've bought plenty. It's enough to eat. If you buy too much and leave it sitting at home for too long, it won't taste good."
Her mom's words put an end to her dad's idea of making another trip to Red Star Commune.
Lu Yun finally had time to look at the stamp album she'd bought. When she opened it, they just seemed like ordinary stamps to her? She didn't know much about them, but as she flipped through, she thought some of them were pretty. After looking through it, she put the stamps away. She also sealed up the loose stamps she'd bought and stored them properly.
Lu Yun quickly forgot about the stamps. She was exhausted and fell asleep as soon as she hit the bed.
Chen Shu's mood wasn't great. Her relationship with Jiang Xiangqian had become awkward. Even if she didn't say it out loud, she could feel how delicate the tension was between them—even more delicate than when Jiang Xiangqian saw Lu Yun. Chen Shu could only hate herself for not hearing Sun Zhi's words earlier, and for being too stupid to think of it herself. She should've gotten the marriage certificate with Jiang Xiangqian sooner!
With a marriage certificate, they'd be proper husband and wife. Breaking up was different from divorce, and this wasn't decades down the road.
Thinking about the stamps made Chen Shu too restless to sleep. That stamp album was worth a fortune!
This stamp album wasn't from the male lead's uncle's mother-in-law—it was the male lead's uncle's. The male lead's uncle had collected some stamps in his spare time. The male lead's mother didn't like the male lead's uncle, so when she saw his stamps, she got rid of them and was even smug about making money off them.
On her workday, Lu Yun ran into Matchmaker Zhao. Matchmaker Zhao was setting people up on blind dates, also at the garment factory. When she saw Lu Yun, she called her over and said, "Did you hear? Yesterday Zhou Jun went back to the Zhou family and made a huge scene!"
Lu Yun: "A scene about what?"
Matchmaker Zhao: "What else could it be? He wanted the Zhou family to go to Red Star Commune with him to apologize to Sun Chun in person!"
Matchmaker Zhao couldn't believe it, "What kind of lovesick idiot says something like that?"
Lu Yun thought of Lu Cheng. If Lu Cheng dared to come home and ask their whole family to go find his wife and apologize to her, she'd want to beat him up!
What was going on in Zhou Jun's head?
Matchmaker Zhao: "Isn't it ridiculous? When I heard about it, I thought the guy had water in his brain! I heard the Zhou family was so mad they beat him and threw him out. Zhou Jun even said they just didn't know how wonderful Sun Chun was. The neighbors were all watching the drama, and the Zhou family didn't want to be a laughingstock, so they called Zhou Jun back inside!"
If only she could've watched the drama outside the Zhou house. Of course, if she could, Matchmaker Zhao would've loved to go inside and help the Zhou family talk some sense into him—well, "helping" was just an excuse. She really just wanted the gossip!
Lu Yun: "What happened next?"
Matchmaker Zhao: "After that, he went back to staying at the dorm! The Zhou family definitely didn't dare let him stay at home. They were afraid that if they let him stay, he'd think they were softening their stance!"
Chen Shu kept following Zhou Jun. At noon, she didn't even eat with her boss at the recycling station. She ran out early to keep an eye on Zhou Jun.
I have no idea what's up with the boss at their waste recycling station. Chen Shu asked him for leave and he said yes without a second thought, not like when she worked for Sister Lü. Just thinking about Sister Lü got Chen Shu fired up—one day, she'd make the people at the garment factory beg her, make Sister Lü beg her!
Chen Shu couldn't care less what the boss at the recycling station thought; right now, all she cared about was the stamps!
Zhou Jun went to Red Star Commune and found Sun Chun at the marketplace. They must've made up, and after that, Zhou Jun would figure out how to get his family to go along and apologize to Sun Chun. Zhou Jun also knew Sun Chun was into stamp collecting, so he'd hunt for stamps whenever he had a spare moment.
Chen Shu was watching Zhou Jun from outside the garment factory. When Zhou Jun got off work, sure enough, he saw Chen Shu. This time, Zhou Jun took the initiative to walk up to her.
Zhou Jun: "Go back."
Chen Shu: "I'm not going back!"
Zhou Jun shot back angrily: "Sun Chun and I are going to be together. Once I convince my family, we'll be boyfriend and girlfriend, and we're getting married! Even if you keep following me, what can you do?"
Chen Shu: "Just let me follow you. I won't do anything—I just want to be near you!"
Zhou Jun: "Do whatever you want!"
Zhou Jun's face turned a little red. He figured it was because Chen Shu pissed him off. Was this woman really that into him?
Chen Shu was the most persistent of all Zhou Jun's pursuers!
Zhou Jun looked back—Chen Shu was still following him!
It didn't matter. Once he got married, Chen Shu wouldn't be like this anymore!
