Chapter 66: Watching the Drama

Lu Yun suspected Zhou Yanze was also a hopeless romantic, but usually this man was too rational, nothing like someone ruled by his heart. Yet his words sounded exactly like a lovesick fool's.

The gift Zhou Yanze gave Lu Yun was a diamond necklace. Lu Yun really liked it. She went home to try it on, and afterward went to find Lu Cheng.

Lu Yun rarely went to Lu Cheng's home to find him. She didn't know how to interact with her sister-in-law and was afraid she'd snap at her sister-in-law and affect the relationship between the siblings. Luckily, her sister-in-law wasn't home today.

Then she thought it was too expensive, but there were many she liked, and she paused a few seconds before buying—what would you say?"

Lu Cheng: "Of course I'd hand my wife some cash and tell her not to hold back! Sis, why are you asking me this?"

Lu Yun: "Nothing. You can head back now."

Saturday morning, Lu Yun didn't sleep in. She got up and went to the shop, waiting for the job interviews.

She hoped to find dependable staff, but she'd only know if they were reliable once they started working. But that was okay—Li Cai was there to help out.

The shop was doing especially well. After Lu Yun stocked the new clothes, when the shop got busy, Li Cai couldn't keep up on her own.

The applicants trickled in one by one. Li Cai said two people still hadn't shown up, and three had come so far.

Lu Yun: "Forget those three. If they can't show up on time now, they'll be late to work later."

Of the three who showed up, two were from the countryside and one from the city. Lu Yun asked a few casual questions and immediately cut one of the country girls—that one was married and kept saying "my man, my man" constantly. That kind of employee would definitely be a headache. The other two—one was in a similar situation to Li Cai, but her family wasn't forcing her to marry. The other was a bit better off, but her family was tight on housing, and she wanted to earn money to help with rent so her sister-in-law wouldn't give her the cold shoulder.

Lu Yun thought it over and decided to hire both of them.

Chen Shu walked in. "Are you hiring here?"

When Chen Shu saw Lu Yun, her eyes lit up with excitement. Why was Lu Yun here? Wasn't the wave of layoffs supposed to happen later? If so, had the layoffs come early? Had Lu Yun been laid off and come here to find a job?

Chen Shu asked eagerly, "Cousin, what are you doing here!"

Li Cai said, "She's our boss."

Chen Shu had been doing well at the recycling center. She was looking for a new job all for Sun Chun's sake. Sun Chun didn't like her much because of her job at the scrap station, so Chen Shu planned to find a new job. That way she could keep building a good relationship with Sun Chun, and by getting close to Sun Chun, she could buy stocks along with her.

This clothing shop was doing great business and had nice decor. She'd heard the boss was nice too, so Chen Shu had planned to come here for an interview!

Now she was being told the boss of this shop was Lu Yun?

None of this existed before she was reborn. What was going on!

Chen Shu shrieked, "You're the boss here? How can you be the boss here? That's impossible! There's no way you could have opened a shop now! This isn't right!"

Lu Yun: "Why can't I own this shop?"

This shop was clearly not cheap. If Jiang Xiangqian helped Lu Yun open a shop, that meant less money for her. That wouldn't do!

Lu Yun: "I opened this shop myself. As for this Jiang Xiangqian you mentioned, I haven't even been in contact with him. Do you think everyone is like you, interested in someone else's fiancé?"

Chen Shu: "Then call the police! Call the police and have Jiang Xiangqian come too. Let him explain how he helped you open this shop. Lu's father was steaming buns at home—the vegetarian three-delight buns that Lu Yun liked. When Lu Yun came in, he immediately took a bun and had her try it. After Lu Yun finished the bun, Lu's father asked how the shop recruitment had gone.

Lu Yun: "The hiring was going great, but who knew it would get so wild after that."

Lu's dad: "I should have gone with you!"

Lu's dad: "How was I supposed to know you'd get to see all that drama? Come on, spill it, what happened?"

Lu Yun: "Chen Shu came to apply for the job. She said Jiang Xiangqian opened the shop for me. I called the cops, and after Jiang Xiangqian arrived, he wanted to break off the engagement with Chen Shu. Chen Shu even said Jiang Xiangqian had regrets. Neither of them probably wanted me to watch the drama, so they agreed to go home and talk it out."

Lu's dad: "That Chen Shu is getting more and more out of line!"

The shop really was opened with Jiang Xiangqian's help, and his decision to break off the engagement was also because of Lu Yun. Chen Shu really must be out of her mind.

Lu Yun: "Chen Shu is definitely planning to hit Jiang Xiangqian up for money. I don't think she has any real romantic feelings for him—she seemed more excited about him offering to compensate her."

Lu's dad: "When she was with Jiang Xiangqian, he wasn't particularly wealthy either!"

Lu Yun: "That's anybody's guess."

Lu Yun knew—she'd always suspected it, and after hearing Chen Shu's words in the shop today, her suspicions were even more confirmed. Maybe Chen Shu knew what was going to happen in the future.

If that were the case, what roles did Zhou Jun and Sun Chun play in all of this?

She'd just sit back and watch the drama unfold.

Lu's dad: "These next few days, Jiang Xiangqian will probably come to you on his own."

Lu Yun: "I know. Once I get the scoop, I'll tell you!"

She was also curious about what it would take for Chen Shu to agree to call off the engagement. Jiang Xiangqian was quite formidable, but since he felt guilty toward Chen Shu, he would likely try his best to meet her demands.
