    Chapter 81: Extra Story

After Sister He's daughter-in-law gave birth to a grandson, she frequently lost her temper. Sister He knew that raising children wasn't easy, so she tolerated it. But her daughter-in-law grew increasingly arrogant, taking advantage of the grandson to act even more boldly toward Sister He, and often asked her for money. A minor disagreement escalated into a quarrel, and Sister He decided she wouldn't tolerate it any longer.

Sister He was done putting up with it, and her daughter-in-law backed down, realizing she could no longer use her son to control Sister He.

Sister He had dinner with Lu Yun and Chen Qiao and talked about her daughter-in-law. Sister He now deeply regretted agreeing to let her son marry this woman. She had thought the daughter-in-law was decisive, but it turned out she was good at holding back her true feelings, believing that once she had a son, the whole family would have to listen to her.

Sister He said, "I know raising a child isn't easy, and I've been giving her money regularly. There's really nothing I can do—I can't help more. I'm either working or knitting. Lately, I've been thinking maybe I should just quit my job altogether. I can't be expected to earn money for them and take care of the kid too, can I?"

Lu Yun and Chen Qiao both said they understood. Sister He really did have a raw deal, and after venting, she felt a whole lot lighter.

Sister He asked, "Chen Qiao, what about you? I heard you've been going on blind dates lately?"

Chen Qiao replied, "Really? How did you know? I only went on one blind date. The guy seemed a bit stuffy, so I said no after we met. How did you find out?"

Sister He said, "I heard it from people at the office. Didn't you run into one of our colleagues that day?"

Chen Qiao said, "Oh, now I remember!"

Speaking of this, Chen Qiao continued, "I originally wasn't planning to go on a blind date. They praised the guy to the skies, so I figured I'd go. After meeting him, he was indeed a good man, but he looked way too stiff, and he talked in a really serious way."

Lu Yun already knew about this. After her blind date, Chen Qiao had gone to complain to Lu Yun. She said that since Lu Yun and Zhou Yanze could barely count as having met through a blind date, and the Chen family kept asking about her getting married, Chen Qiao went to the blind date feeling both reluctant and hopeful. Afterward, she went to see Lu Yun and learned from her about the story between Lu Yun and Zhou Yanze.

That was way more romantic than any blind date!

Love at first sight, and he schemed carefully for her, only to discover that the person he liked was his nephew's blind date match. He couldn't bear to see Lu Yun stood up, and Lu Yun volunteered to go on a blind date with him instead. Chen Qiao was their biggest cheerleader!

Even though Chen Qiao was single, it didn't stop her from smiling every time she saw Lu Yun and Zhou Yanze being together. It was sweeter than watching a cheesy romance drama.

Sister He then asked Lu Yun, "You don't usually take care of the child, do you?"

Lu Yun asked, "How did you know?"

Sister He said, "You look more put-together and prettier. You really don't look like someone who's always busy with a kid."

Lu Yun actually didn't take much care of the child. Usually, her parents looked after the child, and Zhou Yanze would come home to watch the kid whenever he wasn't busy. Lu Yun would just play with the child for a bit, that's all. Even so, the kid still liked Lu Yun the most—it was honestly wild.

After the meal, Lu Yun was about to leave when Zhou Yanze appeared, waiting for her. Lu Yun gave a little smile and was about to say something to Chen Qiao and Sister He, but Chen Qiao immediately refused, saying, "No need. We're really not going to be a third wheel."

Sister He added, "We can get back on our own!"

Chen Qiao was adamant about not being a third wheel. After Lu Yun and Zhou Yanze got married, they were like a couple in the honeymoon phase. Even after having a child, they still seemed deeply in love. Chen Qiao could only hold firm to her decision not to be a third wheel.

Lu Yun sat in the passenger seat and saw the roses Zhou Yanze had brought for her. She smiled and said, "Thank you for the roses, Mr. Zhou."

Zhou Yanze replied, "Thank you for giving me this opportunity, Miss Lu."

When they got home, they went to see the child. Zhou Yu wasn't talking yet, cooing and babbling in the crib. He got excited seeing Lu Yun and Zhou Yanze, shaking a rattle to show them. Lu Yun adored it, wondering if Zhou Yanze had been like this as a baby.

After playing with the child for a while, Zhou Yanze went to cook, and Lu's father continued to look after the child. Although Lu's father's shop was doing great business, he didn't need to go in every day—only occasionally, just like Lu Yun. Since having a grandson, he spent most of his time taking care of the child.

In the evening, they sat down for dinner, a warm scene of five people together as a family.

If Lu's father had any worries, it would definitely be about Lu Cheng. Lu Yun received good news about Lu Cheng—his wife was willing to live well with him and had even kissed him voluntarily. That was strange! Lu Yun knew how his wife had treated him before. Could she have really had a change of heart?

Soon, Lu Yun found a tentative answer to this question.

On the weekend, Lu Cheng brought his wife to Lu Yun's place for a family reunion. Lu Yun's attention was focused on her sister-in-law. Her attitude toward Lu Cheng was good, but her personality was somewhat different from before—it seemed like she knew a lot of things, just like Chen Shu. Lu Yun hadn't mentioned her business plans to them, yet her sister-in-law had guessed some of it.

Lu Yun remained composed and noticed that her sister-in-law genuinely loved Lu Cheng. Only then did Lu Yun feel somewhat at ease.

Lu Yun took the initiative to find a chance to talk to her sister-in-law. "I'm so glad you've come around. Don't worry, Lu Cheng will never let you down."

Her sister-in-law's eyes reddened. "I know. He definitely won't let me down."

Lu Yun pretended to probe further, asking her sister-in-law some questions. Her answers made Lu Yun even more certain that she was similar to Chen Shu. If Lu Yun guessed correctly, had they both been reborn?

When Lu Yun and Zhou Yanze rested, she thought of Chen Shu again. Chen Shu's married life was going well, but she still tried to repair her relationship with Lu Yun. She was really thick-skinned. Lu Yun barely responded to her, yet Chen Shu would still come back warmly the next time.

Lu Yun thought that if she ever had the chance to be reborn, she would marry Zhou Yanze even earlier. But thinking about it, they had already married quite early. Still, earlier would be even better—ideally, they could have grown up together, childhood sweethearts with no secrets between them!
