Chapter 319
by 乔喵喵Chapter 319
Xu Niandi looked forward to the future of this family with great anticipation.
The He family was already chaotic enough, and now they’ve even brought in He San’s children.
Moreover, there was a significant conflict between the two families.
It’s easy to imagine how lively things will get in the future.
"Cheng ge, we need to secure as many benefits as possible. I reckon the days ahead in your family will be quite tumultuous," Xu Niandi said, her hand in his, whispering softly.
"Don't worry, as long as my parents are around, this family won't fall apart. But you're right, we do need to secure more benefits. You've only been married into this family for a few days, so you don’t know what He Tian is capable of. When he lived in our house, we always prioritized giving him the best.
He was an excellent student when he was in school.
If we had an egg, we only had one, but my father gave it to him.
His job placement was also favorable, and my father treated him as if he were his own son. If there were friends to meet, Father would bring He Tian along.
As for He Ming and me, we felt like we were picked up from somewhere.
It was only recently, after our family faced a major incident, that He Tian was sent away.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have left!"
When He Cheng thought about those days, he shuddered.
Xu Niandi had gained quite the insight too. Although her family wasn’t perfect, at least her parents didn’t favor outsiders.
"Then why did you agree to let them come back? Our family isn’t particularly capable either. What if all the benefits end up going to others in the future?" Xu Niandi was anxious.
"Don't worry, I reckon our so-called big brother doesn’t want to see these two either. Anyway, let’s go to sleep first, and we’ll deal with everything tomorrow."
He Cheng was too sleepy to deal with these troubles anymore.
Bai Xiuxiu and Wang Qinghe were unaware of the He family’s issues, and they had no idea that a big drama awaited them the next day.
Early the next morning, in the alley.
Wei Pozi got up early and cooked an egg.
Feeling that the household had been busy recently, she chopped up a cured rabbit, steamed it, and then stewed it with potatoes.
Such good dishes should be served with rice.
Thinking it might be a bit dry to eat in the morning, Wei Pozi soaked some dried vegetables and made a soup.
Once everything was ready, she took out two metal lunch boxes and packed some of the food for her daughter and son-in-law to take for lunch.
The rest was placed on the table.
"Qinghe, is Xiuxiu awake?" Wei Pozi saw her son-in-law carrying a basin out of the room and decided not to go in to call her daughter.
Wang Qinghe nodded in response: "Mom, Xiuxiu is awake. She just washed her face and will be out to eat in a moment. I'll go dump the water first and then draw two buckets of water from the well."
At noon, both he and Xiuxiu wouldn’t be home, and letting the old lady draw water might exhaust her.
And it’s really inconvenient to get water in this cold winter.
Wei Pozi was already used to her son-in-law being thoughtful, always considering the family, and didn’t bother to say she would do it herself.
Wang Qinghe had only been out for a short while when Bai Xiuxiu came out of the room as well.
“Mom, where are Mingming and Yueyue?” Bai Xiuxiu noticed that the children weren’t in the living room or the yard.
“They’ve been exhausted from moving these past few days. The kids haven’t been sleeping well in the new place and have been fussy. They’re still asleep. You two need to go to work, so go ahead and eat first. I’ve left hot food in the pot. Mingming and Yueyue can eat when they wake up.
Eat quickly, don’t be late for work.”
Wei Pozi urged her daughter to hurry and eat.
After breakfast, Bai Xiuxiu and Wang Qinghe took the lunch boxes prepared by the old lady and were ready to head out.
As soon as they stepped out of the main gate, they ran into He Ming, who was looking for them.
He Ming looked somewhat pale.
His arrival was unexpected for Bai Xiuxiu and Wang Qinghe.
Seeing the surprised looks on the brother and sister-in-law, He Ming felt awkward, but he was very hungry! He had also had enough of the family troublemakers and believed they must be driven out.
“Brother, Sister-in-law, did you make food at home? Can I eat here? I haven’t eaten since last night,” He Ming asked awkwardly.
If he ate out, he wouldn’t have enough money to buy a gift for Mengmeng.
Mengmeng’s birthday was coming up, and he was saving money to buy her a piece of clothing.
Bai Xiuxiu and Wang Qinghe were surprised to see He Ming asking for a meal.
Even more surprised.
Curiously, Bai Xiuxiu asked, “What happened? Is everything okay at the He family?”
“Don’t even talk about it…” He Ming wished he had eaten here first yesterday.
“Yesterday, He Wei brought Ji Feng home again, which upset my parents so much that they lost their appetite. That wasn’t all. My third uncle also sent He Tian and He Huihui to stay here.
After Dad agreed, Mom was so angry that she didn’t cook anything for me.
I hoped to get something to eat this morning.
But early today, He Wei and Second Sister-in-Law started arguing again. Second Sister-in-Law used He Wei’s things. He Huihui kept stirring things up, which led to He Wei slapping Second Sister-in-Law. Second Brother got so angry that he hit He Wei.
It’s too chaotic at home now. Dad has gone to work, and Mom can’t handle the situation. I figured I wouldn’t get any breakfast, so I came here to get something to eat.”
He Ming looked at them expectantly, hoping they would help mediate the situation at home.
Bai Xiuxiu and Wang Qinghe understood now.
While He Ming said he came for a meal, he actually wanted them to know about the situation and possibly get involved.
However, He Ming was overthinking.
“Go inside and eat,” Bai Xiuxiu agreed. She needed someone at the He family to occasionally pass information back. He Ming, like Old Wang’s Zhao Cuihua, gave her a similar feeling.
Hearing this, He Ming was overjoyed. “Thank you, Sister-in-law, I…”
He Ming stumbled a little, startled by this. Still, doing some chores was better than listening to the ruckus at home and starving.
He Ming quickly entered the house.
Inside, Wei Auntie was tidying up the dishes. She was startled to see someone suddenly come in.
Seeing it was He Ming, she let out a sigh of relief. "You scared me. I was wondering who it was."
He Ming felt a bit embarrassed. "I haven't had breakfast yet, Wei Auntie. Could I...?"
Haven't had breakfast yet?
Wei Auntie didn’t think much of it. He Ming must have met Xiuxiu and Qinghe. If they hadn’t allowed it, he wouldn’t have been able to come over.
Wei Auntie brought out some breakfast.
Bai Xiuxiu, sitting behind her husband and hugging his waist, whispered to him, "Qinghe, since their family is in such a situation now, shouldn’t we go take a look?"
Wang Qinghe wasn’t interested in the situation, but he was interested in the benefits. More importantly, his wife wanted to go.
Without hesitation, he agreed. "Then we’ll have dinner at the He family’s tonight."
