    Chapter 322

"Alright, you two should head out now," said Director Gao, before continuing with her own tasks.

Lin Yan and Lu Fang were exhausted from helping Bai Xiuxiu with so much work that day.

To make matters worse, they hadn’t even started on their own tasks.

Lu Fang, who was used to bullying Sister Zhang, wasn’t accustomed to handling this much work.

She asked Lin Yan, clearly upset, "Sister Lin, what do we do now? We can’t keep helping her with the work, right? How many more days will this go on?"

Lin Yan was also in a bad mood. "If only it was just about doing the work, I wouldn’t be worried. What I’m really worried about is that Bai Xiuxiu might report us. That would really be bad."

This was all because of Sister Zhang. Why didn’t she finish everything before quitting?

Now, they were in a tough spot.

"She probably won’t, right? We told Bai Xiuxiu that Sister Zhang and I swapped tasks. It’s not a big deal to switch to each other’s strengths during busy times, is it?" Lu Fang was also unsure.

Lin Yan sneered, "Even if it is, did we actually do the work for Sister Zhang?"

"Well… it’s been a long time, surely Bai Xiuxiu can’t dig up something from so long ago, right?" Lu Fang also felt a headache coming on.

    Now what?

If her family found out she wasn’t working hard, her parents might want to kill her.

"Let’s think of a plan first. We need to find Sister Zhang and get her to vouch for us. Otherwise, we won’t be able to explain ourselves," Lin Yan was even more worried. Sister Zhang had already left because of how they treated her.

Since they no longer worked together, it was hard to even find Sister Zhang to cause trouble for her.

They had no choice but to beg.

But they had a grudge with Sister Zhang. How could they ask for help from someone they had wronged?

The thought of having to humble herself before Sister Zhang, someone she used to bully, made Lu Fang upset.

But there really wasn’t any other way.

Earlier, Director Gao noticed Lu Fang and Lin Yan whispering and frowned. "You two, why aren’t you working? Get back to it now."

The two didn’t dare to make another sound.

The others finished their tasks and went about their work. Those who needed to handle disputes left, and others with tasks quickly went to complete them.

After leaving the community office, Bai Xiuxiu and Wang Qiong walked together. Wang Qiong took the initiative to ask, "Xiaobai, what disputes do you need to mediate? How many households are you visiting today? Let’s compare our workloads and handle the smaller one first, leaving the larger one for last. Does that sound good?"

Bai Xiuxiu had no objections. "Sure, here’s what I need to do."

Bai Xiuxiu handed her list directly to Wang Qiong.

After reviewing it and comparing it to her own, Wang Qiong made a decision. "You need to mediate three disputes, while I have four, and mine are a bit more complicated. Let’s focus on your cases first. Otherwise, by the end of the day, neither of us might finish."

"Thank you, Sister Wang," Bai Xiuxiu knew that Wang Qiong was trying to help her since she was new.

"You can just call me Xiao Qiong. Friends and colleagues in our office call me that. You can do the same, and I'll call you Xiao Bai. We're about the same age, so there's no need for formalities." Wang Qiong said, returning Bai Xiuxiu's documents to her.

"Okay." Bai Xiuxiu and Wang Qiong headed to the first household on Bai Xiuxiu's list that required mediation.

The three households on her list had issues involving conflicts between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law, as well as arguments between sisters-in-law.

Compared to Wang Qiong's cases, which involved property and land disputes, these were relatively easier to resolve.

Before arriving, Bai Xiuxiu had already reviewed the situation.

The documents indicated who was in the wrong and who was in the right, and she had made a preliminary judgment. She would confirm her findings during the face-to-face meetings to ensure everything was accurate.

By the time they finished work, the issues with the three households on Bai Xiuxiu's list were mostly resolved.

However, Wang Qiong was still dealing with her second case.

It involved three brothers who had clashed after their parents passed away. They were supposed to divide the family property, but each brother felt the division was unfair and that they deserved more than the others.

As soon as they started mediation, the three brothers began arguing again.

Wang Qiong sighed. "We can't solve anything like this. It's getting dark, so I think you should all go home. I'll investigate further based on what you've said. If we can't come to an agreement, I recommend considering legal action."

The fighting brothers were left stunned, but Wang Qiong paid no attention to them.

    She left with Bai Xiuxiu.

Once they were out of the neighborhood, Wang Qiong said, "All three of them are desperate for money and want a bigger share. In fact, none of them were filial. When their old mother passed away, none of them were by her side."

Right now, they're all trying to grab as much of the house as they can for themselves.

This is the third time they've argued like this. Every time, I just let it drag on.

Their mom was such a good person; I don’t know how she ended up with three sons like this.

I used to visit her all the time. It’s such a shame to see her like this now.

Wang Qiong felt heavy-hearted as she spoke.

Bai Xiuxiu listened quietly as Wang Qiong talked. By the time they reached the community office, Wang Qiong had finished venting.

At the door, Wang Qinghe was already waiting for his wife.

Wang Qiong smiled when she saw him. "Thanks for listening to me go on and on."

"You’ve been a big help to me too, Xiao Qiong. I love hearing you talk. You’re a great person," Bai Xiuxiu said, turning to her husband. "I’ll grab my stuff, and we’ll be off."

They walked back to the community office together, where they could sort things out.

Wang Qiong couldn’t help but notice, "Your husband’s been picking you up every day lately. He’s really sweet to you."

Outside, Bai Xiuxiu hopped onto the back of the bike and wrapped her arms around Wang Qinghe’s waist. "Let’s go home first and tell Mom, then we’ll head over to the He family, alright?"

    "Sounds good," Wang Qinghe replied.

When Bai Xiuxiu and Wang Qinghe returned home, Wei Pozi was playing with the two kids in the yard. The kids spotted them and immediately ran over.

"Daddy!" Yueyue exclaimed, grabbing Wang Qinghe's leg, eager for him to pick her up.

Wang Qinghe scooped both kids into his arms.

"You're back? I'll go get the food ready," Wei Pozi said, getting up to head to the kitchen.

"Mom, hold on. Qinghe and I need to run over to the He family first," Bai Xiuxiu hurriedly pulled her mother back.

Wei Pozi immediately figured out where they were headed. That morning, He Ming had come over for breakfast and practically devoured his food. Something must be happening at the He family.

"You two go on ahead. I’ll eat with the kids and keep your meal warm. Don’t expect to get much to eat over there," Wei Pozi urged them to leave.

After playing with the kids for a bit, Bai Xiuxiu and Wang Qinghe headed to the He family.

When they got to the He family, the place was buzzing with activity.
