Chapter 344
by 乔喵喵Chapter 344
He Ming's attention was now entirely on He Huihui. Seeing her hurry out, he went straight to Second Brother's room.
Second Brother's room offered a view of the outside.
He knocked on the door.
He Cheng quickly opened the door. "What's the matter?"
He Cheng wasn't fond of people coming to his room. This room was his and his wife's, even though it wasn't a separate house. He had started to think of it as his own.
"Brother, let me in. I need to look outside for something." He Ming was anxious to get inside.
Seeing his urgency, He Cheng found it strange. "Why are you in such a rush?"
"I’ll explain later. Just let me in." He Ming hurried into the room and, once inside, immediately looked out the window, spotting He Huihui and Ji Feng.
The two of them were acting suspiciously and were about to go somewhere else.
He Cheng also came over and saw the scene. He glanced sharply. "Are you watching them for a reason? He Ming, are you bored?"
"I have my plans. Second Brother, don't tell anyone about this." He Ming suppressed his anger towards the two outside and greeted Xu Niandi.
"Second Sister-in-Law."
"Alright, you should leave now. Your second sister-in-law and I will be fine." He Cheng urged him to leave quickly.
Meanwhile, outside, He Huihui was pulled by Ji Feng into a corner.
He Huihui immediately asked, "What happened? Weren't you supposed to make He Wei agree to marry you immediately?"
"This time, she acted differently and turned me down immediately. Also, if I don't agree to postpone, she's prepared to break up. Huihui, could it be that she found out about our relationship recently?"
Ji Feng thought this was the only possibility.
Otherwise, He Wei, who loved him so much, wouldn't be so resolute.
"How could that happen? I’ve been so careful..."
He Huihui was also anxious. She had been very cautious, and everything had been fine before.
"So, what’s our next move?" She didn't contradict him but instead asked about the next step.
Now that things had come to this, the most important thing for her was when He Wei would marry Ji Feng.
"What else can we do? Let’s give her a couple of days. If she’s still adamant, we’ll postpone." Ji Feng was also out of ideas. He could control He Wei because she was naive.
Who knew she suddenly wasn't naive anymore?
Her firm stance left him at a loss.
He Huihui was unwilling but couldn't contradict Ji Feng. He was already very angry.
Moreover, if He Wei really broke up, all her plans would be for nothing.
She wanted to live a good life, and for that, what couldn’t she put up with?
"I’ll keep an eye on things and try to talk to He Wei. I’ll head back now. I still need to help with dinner." With a look of frustration in her eyes, He Huihui ran back immediately after finishing her words.
The dinner at the He family was relatively peaceful.
With He Wei no longer causing trouble, He Cheng and his wife were occupied with their own thoughts.
A rare moment of quiet.
He Zhifei looked at the state of the household and felt a pang of regret.
This was how a normal family should be. It’s just a pity that the eldest son didn’t come back today. Otherwise, the house would have felt even cozier and more welcoming.
When things were normal, the family vibe was really great.
"Uncle, I heard you have friends who practice Traditional Chinese Medicine? Can I..." He Tian thought about what his father had told him—that his uncle was preparing to help the eldest son, who was found outside the family, arrange to learn Traditional Chinese Medicine.
If he gets the chance to learn, why can’t I do the same after work?
It would be great for me to pick up some new skills.
I don’t want to miss out on opportunities that others are getting.
If I wait too long, Uncle might start favoring others over me.
He Zhifei looked puzzled, wondering what He Tian was getting at. "Are you asking me to help find a doctor who can treat your mother?"
"Medical stuff isn’t something you can fix in just one or two visits. I don’t want to keep bothering the doctor and risk straining your friendship.
What I’m thinking is, could I go and learn a bit myself?
Even if it’s just a little bit after work, it would still be worth it."
He Tian weighed his words, thinking his uncle wouldn’t refuse such a request.
Uncle always appreciated when the younger generation put in the effort to learn, especially for the sake of family.
He Zhifei frowned. Normally, he would never refuse He Tian’s requests.
This child had always worked hard, and he valued He Tian for his willingness to learn.
But…
His eldest son had just mentioned learning Traditional Chinese Medicine, and now He Tian was bringing it up too. Wasn’t this too much of a coincidence?
Qi Yingying was furious upon hearing He Tian’s request.
Here we go again. It seems like no matter what, those two kids from the third brother’s family always find a way to get involved.
They’re always worried about missing out on anything good.
"Zhifei, I don’t think this is a good idea. Our Qinghe is the one supposed to learn. Besides, Qinghe already has a foundation. If He Tian learns too, I’m afraid their progress won’t be the same.
The teacher won’t have much time. Being able to teach Qinghe is already a stretch.
If Qinghe can learn it, he can help treat Third Brother’s wife too.
I think it’s best to let it go."
Qi Yingying wrinkled her brow, trying to steer her husband toward dismissing the idea.
He Zhifei was already reluctant, and after hearing his wife’s reasoning, he thought it made sense too.
You can't push your luck when asking for favors.
Besides, if we hold up the eldest son's future because of this, that wouldn't be right.
We've worked hard to improve the relationship with him. We can't let things get awkward between us again because of this.
"He Tian, let it go this time. You're at a critical point in your career, don't let this distract you from your main job." He Zhifei rejected He Tian's request.
He Tian's hand holding the chopsticks trembled slightly.
Sure enough, Dad was right. Once there's a promising son in Uncle's family, he wouldn't care about him anymore.
The one brought back from the countryside hasn't achieved much yet, and Uncle has already started to distance himself.
"He Tian, don't be mad, alright? If you had brought it up earlier, your uncle would have helped you. But there's always a priority, right?" Qi Yingying saw that he wasn't saying anything.
She couldn't help but feel satisfied inside.
For once, Old He is actually thinking about his own kids. With someone in the family that Old He values, He Tian and He Huihui won't have a place here much longer.
Their future finally seemed brighter.
As for the eldest son and his wife not being willing to help...
To He Youde's family, this is no big deal!
There will be other chances down the line.
Qi Yingying wasn't shy about twisting the knife for He Tian.
Her words made He Zhifei glance at He Tian again, and noticing his disappointment, He Zhifei felt let down.
