Chapter 32 Seems Like a Lunatic
byChapter 32: Like a Madman
Xie Tingsheng stood on a raised mound, radiating an aura of violence. His exquisitely sculpted, jade-like face was splattered with crimson, the blood covering most of his features. His dark hair fell loosely over his brow, framing sharp, cold eyes. The line from his nose to his thin lips was devoid of warmth, exuding only icy hostility. His phoenix eyes, tinged with red, seethed with a ferocity that surpassed even the bloodstains on his face, making him resemble a bloodthirsty demon king emerging from the shadows.
Beside him, Zhu Bin, gripping a handkerchief, gulped nervously and averted his gaze, not daring to meet those eyes. He couldn't shake the feeling that Brother Sheng seemed like a madman at this moment—one who might even cut him down in his frenzy.
Xie Tingsheng closed his cold eyes, taking a moment to steady himself and calm his violent emotions. Then, with his bloodstained, long-fingered hand, he reached for the handkerchief and wiped his face. Afterward, he opened the game interface to check the message from his little wife.
Upon reading it, his cold, bloodthirsty expression softened slightly, and the corners of his lips even curved upward. His slender fingers, still smeared with blood, moved as he typed a reply.
Zhu Bin, who had recently become quite adept at reading faces, immediately knew who had sent the message just by observing his brother’s demeanor. He couldn’t help but purse his lips.
But barely two seconds later, his eyes suddenly sparkled mischievously, and he grinned. "Brother Sheng, what do you think of the people I recruited? Especially Song Yan—she’s a famous socialite in Qingcheng's high society. Not only is she highly educated, beautiful, and elegant, but she's also accomplished in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. She even participated in shooting competitions—back then, the national team wanted her, but she was a top student and only treated shooting as a hobby, so she declined.
"Now, it’s clear she really mastered it. She picks up a gun and gets it immediately, keeping her cool under fire and hitting every shot dead-on. Earlier, when you were fighting those monsters, she even landed a few hits and helped you out. She’s way better than me! I think the two of you make a great team—how about you partner up with her for monster hunting from now on?"
Zhu Bin grinned, thinking he'd sacrificed so much for his brother’s sake—even putting himself down. *Brother Sheng, open your eyes and see what a real refined lady looks like. Forget about that spoiled, arrogant brat Hua Diao.*
Xie Tingsheng lifted his cold gaze slightly, his expression indifferent as he glanced at him. "She helped, but don't have her do it again. If I can handle it alone, why bring extra baggage? And you—if you can't even beat a girl, what use are you to me? If your shooting doesn’t improve, don’t bother coming out next time. Go back to the villa and tend vegetables."
Zhu Bin’s smile froze, his face instantly falling. Eyes watering, he pleaded, "I’ll practice, I’ll practice! Brother Sheng, don't make me go back—I don't wanna be a farmer!"
*If I become a farmer, how am I supposed to level up, become a big shot, and marry a rich beauty?! QAQ Brother Sheng is too cruel!*
Xie Tingsheng scoffed, giving him a cold sidelong glance. "Next time, don’t pull these petty tricks."
Still shaken by the farming threat, Zhu Bin nodded frantically.
Only then did Xie Tingsheng shift his icy gaze away, his voice as frigid as ever. "We’re done for today. Divide up the loot and get some rest. As for the people you recruited—they’re just barely adequate. With the weapons I provide, even a child could fight monsters. What I want isn’t strong, showy people—I want obedient ones. If they can’t manage that, they can leave."
"Y-yes, Brother Sheng! I’ll tell them!"
Zhu Bin nodded like crazy.
"But Brother Sheng, are we really ending this early? It’s not even dark yet—we could hunt a bit longer. Look, a few more werewolves just spawned over there. It’d be a waste not to kill them. The Special Operations Bureau teams have been extremely active today—they’ve wiped out most of the monsters. It took us over twenty minutes just to find this spawn point."
Xie Tingsheng’s expression remained cold and unmoved. "No. If you want to keep hunting, go ahead. Your sister-in-law's expecting me for dinner."
With that, he opened the loot box, took a few items he needed, tossed the rest to Zhu Bin, and strode off without a second glance.
His black trench coat accentuated his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs. Soon, he was enveloped by a swarm of disease-carrying mosquitoes, his figure blurring as he walked away.
Zhu Bin sighed deeply. "Ah… why is Brother Sheng so deeply in love?"
By the time Xie Tingsheng returned home, Hua Diao was bustling around the kitchen, preparing seafood.
Earlier, after sending him a message and learning he’d be back in about half an hour, she hadn’t rushed dinner. Instead, inspiration struck, and she decided to visit her island space to fetch some seafood to try.
Ever since obtaining the island space, she’d been too busy to go fishing and taste the seafood from the Koi Deity’s private garden. Now that she had the chance, she couldn’t resist checking it out.
Previously, she’d asked her manager to purchase supplies, including some fishing gear and a kayak. She retrieved the kayak from the stockpile, grabbed a fishing net and rod, and set out to sea to gather some fresh catches.
To her delight, within minutes of casting the net, she hauled it back up—completely full of fresh seafood: fish, shrimp, crabs, and even lobsters.
The most unscientific part? Some of the fish were deep-sea species, and the lobsters were also deep-sea dwellers. Yet she had only paddled the kayak about a hundred meters out—nowhere near deep waters.
Hua Diao guessed that either her luck, boosted by the space, was truly heaven-defying, or the fish in the Koi Deity’s garden were naive and had never encountered human cunning, willingly swimming into her net.
But regardless of the reason, seafood was seafood.
So, without even needing the fishing rod, she cheerfully paddled back with a net full of lively sea creatures.
*Fishing's a breeze! ~(≧▽≦)/~*
Hearing the door open, Hua Diao poked her head out from the kitchen, a spatula in hand. Her large, glistening eyes blinked, her delicate, fairy-like face glowing with joy. She wore a cute apron with a bunny eating a carrot, cinched at her slender waist, giving her a warm, domestic charm.
Warmth flooded Xie Tingsheng’s chest, and a rare smile appeared on his coldly handsome face—he truly felt the warmth of home.
He set down the items in his hand on a chair and strode toward the kitchen with his long legs.
His dark phoenix eyes fixed on her, deep and unreadable. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he responded, "Mn. I’m back. What are you making? Need any help?"
