Chapter 110: The New Weapon—Rocket Launcher

By the time the trio reached the Brocade Blossom Gardens plaza, they could already see monsters swarming outside: goblins, three-headed hounds, werewolves, interspersed with a few fluttering little succubi, and the newly appeared Minotaurs. This dense horde was madly surging toward the residential area, as if something inside irresistibly drew them in.

The human defenders organized by the community were holding the line desperately, each unleashing their unique skills.

Several individuals with earth magic skills had erected a chest-high earthen barrier at the entrance, separating humans from the monsters. Outside the wall, countless earth spikes and bramble traps hindered the monsters' advance.

Behind the wall, people rained down attacks with fireballs, aqua spheres, ice shards, and bullets—anything they could throw. With the monsters packed so densely, there was no chance of missing; every attack was guaranteed to whittle down their HP.

Yet, despite their desperate struggle, they were still no match for the relentless monster tide.

The makeshift defensive line was pushed back repeatedly, and many among the defenders had already begun to break, quietly retreating.

Fortunately, not everyone fled. Some held their ground, and reinforcements arrived—among them, the protagonists Chu Chengling and Jiang Yao.

Chu Chengling unleashed a Thunderous Strike. Though its damage was minimal, only dealing chip damage, its sheer visual impact was undeniable.

Those on the verge of panic, witnessing this display, found renewed courage and steadied their retreating steps.

Jiang Yao followed up with her own move—Tidal Surge. Like her husband’s attack, it was all show, no punch, but the sheer scale of it was enough to awe the crowd.

Thus, the couple became like two keystones shoring up a collapsing dam, temporarily reinforcing the crumbling frontline and earning immense goodwill from the onlookers.

But keystones or not, they were still just bricks. Two small bricks could never hold back an entire flood—they could only delay the inevitable.

Sure enough, the earthen wall was pushed back once more.

The ten werewolf bosses, each with 15,000 HP, grew impatient. Discarding all pretense of fairness, they trampled over the smaller monsters in their path and charged forward.

Truly ruthless—even their own kind weren’t spared. No wonder they were so strong.

This time, the humans on the other side of the wall were genuinely trembling, on the verge of complete retreat.

They had barely held on before, when the ten tanky werewolves hadn’t joined the fray. But now, facing these elite mobs that steamrolled even their own allies—sometimes three or four goblins underfoot in a single step—they knew they couldn’t hold out any longer.

Just as morale wavered and the Special Operations Bureau prepared to activate a one-time-use large-scale Skill Scroll, a clear voice rang out.

    "Movement of Water—"

The sound, clear and melodious like a mountain spring, instantly soothed the frantic crowd, transporting them to a serene mental space. Even the frenzied monsters paused, tilting their heads as if entranced by the ethereal melody—even the ten advanced werewolf bosses lifted their massive heads and froze in place.

Then, scythes formed of water materialized, harvesting the entranced foes one by one.

Those who shook off the effect early gaped in shock.

What kind of spell was this?

It was OP as hell—the monsters were just standing there, waiting to be slaughtered!

And who was this hidden OP player?

Heads swiveled toward the source of the voice, but when they saw Hua Diao, Xie Tingsheng, and Zhu Bin approaching, reactions were mixed—some delighted, others frowning.

Of the three, Hua Diao was the only woman, so the voice had to be hers.

Realizing this, Jiang Yao’s heart lurched, her expression darkening with an indescribable mix of envy and bitterness.

She couldn’t understand why Hua Diao—once hot-headed and dim-witted—had seemingly awakened after the apocalypse. Not only had she given up her obsession with Chu Chengling, but she’d even extorted them and was now living large, reportedly feasting on seafood.

Now, seeing her again, Hua Diao was as radiant as ever, stunningly beautiful—proof that she was thriving.

In contrast, Jiang Yao’s life had only worsened. Food was scarce, and her mother, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law were always at each other's throats, making her days unbearable.

She risked her life outside, only to have all her gains consumed by these three leeches. Her own mother accused her of favoring her in-laws over her birth family, while her mother-in-law called her a turncoat for "sneaking supplies" to her parents. She was stuck in this hell, with only her husband’s kindness as solace.

Glancing at Chu Chengling, she was relieved to see him focused on the monsters rather than Hua Diao.

If, after all her suffering, he still regretted letting Hua Diao go, then everything she’d endured would be a cruel joke. Thankfully, he hadn’t.

Jiang Yao comforted herself with that thought.

The water scythes of Movement of Water only chunked the advanced werewolves, failing to finish them off, only shaving off a tenth of their HP. Once the spell faded, the ten enraged bosses raged and rushed forward again, swinging their massive clubs.

The defenders behind the wall rallied, standing tall once more. "Attack! Now—!"

With a powerhouse backing them, their spines straightened, their fear vanished, and their retreat was forgotten. They felt invigorated, ready to fight for another hour.

Hua Diao, Xie Tingsheng, and Zhu Bin joined the fray.

Xie Tingsheng’s small rocket launcher was impossible to miss—it was downright eye-searing. This thing couldn’t have come from a loot box, could it?

Game weapons from loot boxes were never firearms—only enchanted magical weapons.

Before Hua Diao could speculate, Zhu Bin eagerly invited her to form a party.

Having long grown accustomed to his "Brother Sheng" conjuring new weapons, Zhu Bin wasn’t fazed. This rocket launcher was surely another product of his evolving abilities.

Seeing Hua Diao’s astonishment, Zhu Bin even took the time to explain Xie Tingsheng’s post-apocalyptic weapon-summoning skill.

Dazed, Hua Diao listened as the trio formed their party. Then, Xie Tingsheng shouldered the rocket launcher and fired.

The spectacle was nothing short of epic—each rocket one-shot an advanced werewolf with terrifying efficiency.

In under a minute, the once-dreaded bosses were reduced to ash, leaving behind ten dazzling loot boxes floating midair.

    Hua Diao: "...Damn."

Did Xie Tingsheng also have a game-breaking passive, similar to her Koi Space?
