Chapter 128 Qi Cancan’s Face Fell Off
byChapter 128 Qi Cancan’s Face Dropped
Within the Peanut Squad, Song Yan was the most popular among the female members. That morning, most of the girls had gathered around her, along with some of their boyfriends and admirers.
Thus, among the large crowd in this area, Song Yan was surrounded by the most people.
Today, Guan Tiantian had also come along, purely to provoke Song Yan.
Earlier, she had been fuming at Song Yan’s cold and haughty attitude, but Hua Diao’s sudden appearance had stepped in, saving Guan Tiantian’s pride. Now, seeing Song Yan’s tightly pursed lips and the poorly concealed jealousy in her eyes as she stared at Hua Diao, Guan Tiantian felt great.
Hmph, Song Yan had always suppressed her, but now Hua Diao’s arrival had completely overshadowed Song Yan. This was simply too delightful—Song Yan’s nemesis had finally appeared. From now on, the Peanut Squad wouldn’t be all about Song Yan anymore.
Ah, no—aside from Song Yan, there was also Qi Cancan, who had arrived a few days ago and was just as much of a standout. Rumor had it that she also had her eyes on Captain Xie and was locked in a rivalry with Song Yan.
Guan Tiantian’s eyes lit up with mischief as she sidled up to Song Yan and gloated, “Now that the real competition has arrived, you’re out of luck. Look at Hua Diao—her elegant black dress is so beautiful, and that face of hers is exquisitely stunning, flawless and glowing—like some seductive sprite. And then there’s you—cold-faced, stiff. At best, you’re an icy beauty, an unattainable flower. At worst, you’re just a frigid old spinster, a prudish nun. How could you possibly compare to such a charming, alluring little fairy?”
“Honestly, even Qi Cancan has more of an advantage than you. Qi Cancan has a fiery figure, graceful and alluring, with a face that’s delicate and captivating—her style is much closer to Hua Diao’s. Even if Captain Xie were to settle for second best, he’d only choose Qi Cancan. Your type is worlds apart from Hua Diao’s.”
Song Yan’s fingers dug into her palms, her eyes flashing with cold fury. “Shut up.”
Guan Tiantian ignored her and smirked triumphantly. “You’re not my mother—why should I listen to you? I’m just telling the truth, right, Qi Cancan?”
Qi Cancan, who had somehow appeared beside them unnoticed, immediately beamed at Guan Tiantian’s words. “Tiantian’s absolutely right, Captain Song. You should give up now and save yourself some dignity.”
Song Yan frowned, her gaze like shards of ice as she glared at Qi Cancan. “And what about you? Why don’t you save yourself some dignity?”
Qi Cancan giggled, her voice dripping with amusement. “Because I’m not as prideful as you, Captain Song. I can throw myself at him shamelessly—can you?”
Guan Tiantian nodded in agreement. “Exactly! If you like someone but never confess or act on it, yet still put on this holier-than-thou act of ‘I’m just trying to save the captain from suffering,’ then you’re just a total phony. You really can’t compare to Qi Cancan—at least she’s genuine in her shamelessness.”
Qi Cancan's face stiffened, and she glared at Guan Tiantian in displeasure. "Hey, watch how you talk to me!"
Guan Tiantian, now fully fired up, couldn't hold back her verbal onslaught and launched an indiscriminate attack. "Am I wrong? Captain Xie already has a legally wedded wife, yet you keep clinging to him—what does that make you if not a total homewrecker?"
Qi Cancan choked, feeling so frustrated she wanted to scream.
But everything the other said was true, leaving her no room for rebuttal.
Yet, she was just drawn to strength—she adored men like Captain Xie, powerful and capable of making her feel safe. So what if she was lovesick? Hmph!
With a toss of her long, curly hair, Qi Cancan swayed over to Hua Diao, her face beaming as she addressed Xie Tingsheng in a sweet, coquettish voice, "Captain, is this your lovely wife? She’s absolutely stunning."
Then, turning to Hua Diao, she blinked her beautiful eyes and smiled. "Sis-in-law, my name is Qi Cancan—just call me Cancan. Let’s be besties! I’ll invite you to my place, and you can invite me to yours. Sound good?"
Hua Diao gave her a strange look. Qi Cancan.
Wasn’t she one of the side characters from the novel? The one who contracted a little succubus to try and sabotage the female lead but failed.
What was she doing now?
Not only had she joined Xie Tingsheng’s team, but judging by her words, she wanted to be "sisters" with Hua Diao—implying she intended to share Xie Tingsheng?
Huh—so she’d given up on her obsession with the male lead Chu Chengling and set her sights on Xie Tingsheng instead?
And now she wanted to share him?
Hah, how *noble* of her.
Hua Diao twitched her lips. Xie Tingsheng’s expression darkened as well, his arm tightening around Hua Diao’s slender waist. His phoenix eyes narrowed, icy displeasure directed at Qi Cancan. Just as he was about to order Zhu Bin to throw this woman out and expel her from the team for daring to provoke his wife, gasps of shock rippled through the crowd.
"Ah—"
"Her face—Qi Cancan’s face is melting off!"
Qi Cancan's once charming and alluring face began to melt like a wax figure, her skin and eyeballs drooping and sliding downward. Everyone stared in shock, eyes bulging.
Qi Cancan herself only realized what was happening belatedly and tried to raise her hand to touch her face—but as soon as she lifted it, her hand began to melt as well.
Her pupils shook in terror, but she couldn’t even scream.
Having witnessed this before, Zhu Bin and Xie Tingsheng remained the calmest. Their gazes immediately turned toward Hua Diao, where they spotted a small, pitch-black succubus wreathed in dark mist hovering above her head.
The others quickly noticed it too. "A succubus—drawn to pretty faces and hates fake feelings. So Qi Cancan’s words earlier were insincere! I knew she was eyeing the captain. All that talk about being 'sisters' with the captain’s wife was just a lie—probably just a way to get closer to him!"
"Exactly! My cousin’s kid once said that people cursed by a succubus melt like wax figures. But if you kill the succubus before they completely dissolve, the victim can be saved and restored. So… should we save her or not?"
They looked at each other, but nobody stepped up.
Qi Cancan hadn’t been with the team for long, and she acted all high-and-mighty, flaunting her looks and bragging about her "bad girl" rep, which had earned her no favor among the female members. They’d rather hang with Song Yan than deal with her. As for the men, after she made it clear that her target was the captain, they wisely kept their distance. In short, Qi Cancan had no allies in the team.
Now, with the little succubus perched over the captain’s wife—like it was punishing her for Qi Cancan—who would dare attack the captain’s side for Qi Cancan’s sake? Besides, she wasn’t fully melted yet. No rush to jump in.
And so, Qi Cancan suffered—trapped in the horror of melting alive, her face screwed up in panic, begging wordlessly for help. But nobody lifted a finger.
