Chapter 56 The Mermaid Space Bracelet
byChapter 56 Mermaid Space Bracelet
Lin Xiaobao frowned and shot him a sharp glare. "Just don’t go over there and cause trouble."
He had already noticed that Miss Hua Diao had exceptionally high luck—at least higher than his eldest brother’s. If they went over now, they might be misunderstood as eyeing the items in her treasure chest.
Even if she didn’t mind, Lin Xiaobao was a tactful and intelligent person who knew boundaries.
Moreover, she had indirectly saved his foolish second brother. Benefactors and strangers occupied very different positions in Lin Xiaobao’s mind; a life-saving benefactor deserved respect.
"Alright." Er Bao lowered his head, intimidated, grumbling under his breath about his little brother not knowing how to be gallant. Still, he obediently stayed put, squatting beside Da Bao’s treasure chest with San Bao, eyes shining as they waited for the miraculous moment.
Meanwhile, Hua Diao, who had been eavesdropping, let out a quiet sigh of relief, a slight smile curling her lips. Smart people really knew how to handle things. She truly didn’t want to open her treasure chests in front of them—better to keep some cards close to her chest. Plus, this was the perfect opportunity for some clever substitution.
For instance, the highly destructive scrolls she had stashed away in her space, like the Lightning Scroll. Combined with the Earth Barrier, it could annihilate all the werewolves around them and get them out of this mess.
Unfortunately, she hadn’t brought them with her earlier and couldn’t just pull them out of thin air. She’d had to keep them hidden while scrambling desperately to stay alive.
Now, she could use the treasure chest opening as a chance to swap them in.
Hua Diao took a deep breath and pulled the treasure chest she had obtained from breaking the illusion closer. It shone brighter than the others, standing out vividly in the darkness of the Earth Barrier.
She had a feeling she’d get exactly what she wanted from it.
With grave solemnity, Hua Diao opened the chest.
Peering inside, her eyes instantly gleamed.
There were five items in total: a scroll, two differently colored conches—one red and one green—a pearl, and a pale blue bracelet that looked like it was woven from fish scales. It shimmered with a faint blue glow, exquisitely beautiful.
Her heart raced, hammering so violently she could hear it. Her gaze locked onto the bracelet, and she eagerly reached for it.
Item: Mermaid Space Bracelet
Rank: Advanced
Description: A space storage item capable of holding all manner of objects except living beings. Its interior is roughly the size of a mermaid’s palace and features time stasis—anything stored within will remain exactly as it was when placed inside, unaffected by spoilage or elemental loss. Note: To expand the space using Space Expansion Stones, a blacksmith must reforge the bracelet. Space Expansion Stones cannot be used directly.
Hua Diao’s eyes widened in delight. This was an advanced space item!
She wasn’t too concerned about the size since she already had her island space, but the time stasis function excited her immensely.
Her island space had its own time flow, and with billions in supplies stored inside, she’d been worried about them expiring over time.
But with this Mermaid Space Bracelet, things would remain in their exact stored state. Even frozen meat would remain frozen when taken out.
Now, the three large freezers in her upstairs storage room wouldn’t risk thawing and ruining their contents.
Though, a mermaid’s palace-sized space… would it really be enough to hold all those supplies?
Hua Diao slipped the bracelet onto her wrist. There wasn’t time now—she’d examine it more closely once she got home. For now, she turned her attention to the other items in the chest.
The two conches, when picked up, turned out to be the exact same tools she had effectively used in the illusion—the Amplifying Conch and the Echo Conch.
However, they were now in their miniature forms, no bigger than real-world conch shells. Only when activated would they expand into the large, megaphone-sized versions from the illusion.
Lastly, there was the smooth, round pearl.
Blessing Pearl: A mermaid’s tear infused with blessings. A precious material for crafting potions or forging weapons.
It seems to be a good item, but unfortunately, it doesn't contain any potion recipes or weapon forging formulas. Such items seem to be quite rare in the early stages of the apocalypse. She was hoping to reforge her Elven Wood Bow.
This bow is truly excellent, but it has one flaw: it can't be used for long periods.
The arrows condensed by the Elven Wood Bow have already faded, and they've faded more severely than when she used it at Dongyang Lake yesterday. If her level were higher, she could certainly condense more arrows.
Apart from that, the only thing left is the scroll.
When Huasao picked it up, she was genuinely surprised.
"Skill Scroll: True Mantra"
"Level: Advanced"
"Description: A gift from a Mermaid Priestess, this is a permanent skill scroll. Using it will cause confusion in the target, making them tell the truth no matter who asks them during this period. Note: The caster can only use this on targets with lower mental strength points or a lower level than themselves; otherwise, there will be some degree of backlash. (Requires players with 20 mental strength points to bind and learn)"
With this True Mantra, there's no need for torture or interrogation.
Indeed, as expected of an advanced game item. However, the trouble is that her current mental strength points are only 12, so she can't bind it yet.
Huasao pouted and stored it in her Island Space, deciding to wait until her mental strength points were sufficient before binding it.
Then she continued to open the other treasure chests, making the most of her time.
As usual, her luck was extremely good, and each chest contained three items, though none had four items like the one dropped by the mermaid Annie.
There might be a limit; chests dropped by low-level monsters can only contain up to three items.
In the end, Huasao gathered a total of 188 gold coins; 10 single-use skill scrolls; 1 permanent skill scroll; 8 various berries; 4 wolf clubs; 5 potions of life; 1 recipe: 20 milk; 12 cream buns; 7 5kg bags of rice; 5 wolf claws; 4 wolf fangs.
But what really got Hua Diao excited was the single recipe in the mix.
It was a smithing recipe to turn basic weapons into high-tier ones, applicable to almost all weapons produced in the game.
With this recipe, leveling up her skills might even unlock a side gig—becoming a blacksmith.
Hua Diao couldn’t stop grinning—this recipe was perfect for her. She just had to round up the upgrade materials before testing it out herself.
However, to increase the success rate of weapon forging, she would also need a game-produced Smithing Table, which she still had to search for.
Maybe she could scout the free trade zone or hit up the Special Operations Bureau to find one.
As for the other materials, wolf fangs and wolf claws seemed to be part of the forging ingredients. She’d already scored five wolf claws and four fangs—plenty for the job.
