Chapter 14 Brother Yuwei, Don’t You Want to Marry Me? I Agree
byChapter 14: Yu Wei, Didn’t You Want to Marry Me? Fine, I Agree
Yu Wei changed clothes and went downstairs. The dining table was already set with steaming hot dishes, but there was no sign of Shi Ciyan in the living room. Yu Wei called out, and a head popped out from the kitchen. “Have a seat. The last dish is almost done.”
Yu Wei circled the table, checking out the good-looking food, drooling.
Shi Ciyan brought out the final dish, placed it on the table, and sat down across from Yu Wei.
“You made all this?” Yu Wei eagerly took the bowl of rice Shi Ciyan had served him, took a bite, and his eyes lit up. “Didn’t you say you couldn’t cook?”
“I just learned. Is it good?”
Yu Wei nodded as he kept eating, scooping up dishes. He’d been in a rough mental state lately, barely eating, but today—whether it was because he had slept well, his appetite had returned, or Shi Ciyan’s cooking was tasty—he ate two small bowls.
“Have another bowl of soup.” Shi Ciyan ladled him a bowl of soup. “Pork heart calming soup—helps you sleep better.”
Yu Wei didn’t expect Shi Ciyan to be so thoughtful, noticing he couldn’t sleep. Seeing the large bowl of soup served to him, his heart felt warm. He held the bowl and took slow sips.
“Where’d you get the pork heart and lotus seeds?” Yu Wei craned his neck to glance into the pot. He clearly remembered not having these ingredients at home.
Shi Ciyan paused briefly, then said, “I had a delivery service bring them.”
Yu Wei nodded. Sure, it’s far from the city, but it’s daytime and nice out—throw in some extra cash, and plenty of people will deliver.
Shi Ciyan talked him into having two bowls of soup. After eating his fill, Yu Wei patted his round belly and sprawled out on the couch, watching Shi Ciyan clear the table. He teased, “You’ve got a real knack for cooking. Whoever marries you is in for a treat.”
Shi Ciyan turned around to see Yu Wei sprawled sideways on the couch like a cat sunbathing with its belly out, a look of utter contentment on his face. Shi Ciyan smiled without replying and continued cleaning up.
“There’s a dishwasher. Just put the dishes in there.”
“Okay.”
Just as Shi Ciyan walked into the kitchen, the doorbell started ringing like crazy.
“Shi Ciyan, go get the door.” Yu Wei lay there without moving, his bare feet dangling and swaying slowly, totally relaxed.
When Shi Ciyan heard him and came out of the kitchen, the sight made his heart melt. He held up his greasy hands and said, “Let me wash up first.”
Yu Wei glanced up and got up from the sofa. “Forget it, I’ll get it.”
Then Yu Wei remembered this was his house. Few people knew the address of this villa, and among them, his mother, Bai Sijia, often visited.
Bai Sijia usually dropped by about twice a week. She had already come twice this week. Was she here again?
“It’s probably my mom or dad. Just keep doing your thing.”
Shi Ciyan froze, panicking, not sure what to do with his hands.
Yu Wei couldn’t help laughing. “What are you so worked up about?”
How could he not be? The whole place reeked of pheromones. If Yu Wei’s parents knew he’d been with Yu Wei like this before they were married, wouldn’t that ruin their first impression?
“I’ll just hide in the kitchen. Call me when they’re gone.”
“Alright, alright.”
Shi Ciyan went into the kitchen and shut the door. Yu Wei opened the door, only to find someone he didn’t expect: Lin Zerui.
“What are you doing here?” Yu Wei frowned, looking totally disgusted.
The last time he saw Lin Zerui was a month ago, when Lin Zerui was in the hospital wrapped in bandages. He didn’t expect Lin Zerui to be standing in front of him in one piece after just a month.
But still…
The nasty scars on Lin Zerui’s body made Yu Wei feel a bit sick. The skin on the left side of his face, from his neck to his ear, was all wrinkled and burned. Yu Wei looked away. “What do you want?”
“Not gonna offer me a glass of water?”
Yu Wei rolled his eyes and turned to leave. Lin Zerui followed him in and shut the door, watching Yu Wei plop down on the couch, hugging a pillow and lounging back, crossing his legs, his pale feet gently swaying.
A flicker of hatred flashed in Lin Zerui’s eyes.
“Yu Wei, do you even remember you’re my fiancée? We’re still engaged, and you’re bringing random people into your house?”
The whole room reeked of Alpha pheromones—not super strong, but definitely there.
“Are you nuts? If you want water, get it yourself from the kitchen. If not, get lost.” Yu Wei couldn’t be bothered. He waved his hand and closed his eyes, pretending to sleep. “I’m taking a nap. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”
Lin Zerui sat down by his feet. “I’m here for real business today.”
Yu Wei didn’t even bother opening his eyes. “If you have something to say, say it.”
“Yu Wei, didn’t you really want to marry me? Let’s get married.”
Yu Wei’s eyes flew open. He sat up fast, looking totally shocked. “What makes you think I want to marry you? Lin Zerui, I haven’t even settled the score with you yet, and you have the nerve to show up here, shamelessly asking to get married?”
For the past month, his mood had been terrible, and since Lin Zerui and that lecher were both in the hospital, Yu Wei had put aside the grudges for now and hadn’t gone after them.
Now Lin Zerui has the audacity to come to him and ask to get married.
Yu Wei shot a disgusted look at the scar on his left cheek. “Look at yourself now. Why would I marry you? I’ve got money and looks. I can have anyone. Why would I settle for a scumbag like you?”
“What do I look like?” Lin Zerui clenched his teeth, his face dark. “Tell me, what do I look like now?”
Yu Wei was a bit intimidated. Earlier, when he was lying down, Lin Zerui had sat by his feet. Now that Yu Wei had sat up, they were too close. Frightened by Lin Zerui’s current state, Yu Wei scooted back on the sofa, about to get down, when a sharp pain shot through his wrist. Lin Zerui threw him onto the sofa and pressed himself on top, his other hand gripping Yu Wei’s jaw so hard that tears streamed uncontrollably down Yu Wei’s face.
“Tell me, what do I look like?” Lin Zerui’s face twisted with rage. He brought his face close to Yu Wei’s. “Yu Wei, didn’t you like me? Didn’t you want to marry me? Fine, I agree.”
Yu Wei couldn’t speak with his jaw clamped shut. His eyes blazed with anger as he tried to pry Lin Zerui’s hand off, but he wasn’t strong enough. All his struggles were futile.
“But what did you mean just now, Yu Wei? And what was that look? Didn’t you like me? How dare you look at me with disgust? Don’t you like these scars on me? If you don’t, then you’d better take a good, long look at them.”
Yu Wei couldn’t break free, couldn’t speak. He shook his head weakly, his face drenched in tears.
Lin Zerui squeezed his jaw tight with one hand while gently stroking his cheek with the other. “There are many more scars like this under this shirt, Yu Wei. You’d better take a good look.”
It had been almost a week since he was discharged. On the street, passersby kept turning their heads to stare at him with pity because of his scars. Even the prostitute he had spent a fortune on gagged at the sight of his horrifying scars in bed.
Lin Zerui was filled with resentment.
The root of all this was Yu Wei, pinned beneath him.
He had spent three weeks in the hospital, thinking through a lot of things.
On the day of the bar fire, he and Wei Yang had run out of the private room one after the other, following the crowd to evacuate away from the blaze. But as he was going downstairs with the crowd, someone bumped into him. He lost his balance and fell to the ground, and his back landed right on a patch of fire. If he hadn’t reacted quickly, rolling on the ground to put out the flames, he would probably still be in the hospital now, with even more burn coverage.
At first, he thought it was just a push and shove. But later, thinking back, that person had shoved him with considerable force, pushing him half a meter into a fiery area. The more he thought about it, the less accidental it seemed.
Wei Yang had been right beside him at the time, and in the jostling crowd, his not-yet-healed wound had reopened.
The only thing these incidents had in common: they both got into trouble right after parting ways with Yu Wei.
He had expressed his doubts to his father. His father immediately went to the bar to check the security footage for evidence, only to find that the bar had closed down the day after the fire, and the owner was nowhere to be found. The police also ruled it an accidental fire. No one else was injured except him and Wei Yang.
The person responsible had a clear target: him and Wei Yang. By then, he was certain Yu Wei was involved.
With no evidence to be found, the matter had to end there. But Lin Zerui couldn't let it go. Knowing it was linked to Yu Wei yet being powerless to do anything about it—Lin Zerui had never felt so frustrated.
Their family company had a partnership with the Yu family and needed Yu Wei's help, so they couldn't afford a falling-out now.
But if they got married, everything would be different. Once married, Yu Wei would become a toy in his hands, subject to whatever torment he desired.
But now Yu Wei didn't want to marry him.
And he was even disgusted by the scars on his body.
Fine.
Lin Zerui removed his own shirt with one hand. He loosened his grip on Yu Wei's jaw for a moment, and Yu Wei seized the opportunity to shout toward the closed kitchen door, "Shi—"
Crack—
Yu Wei felt his jawbone shift out of place. His jaw was misaligned, and his mouth couldn't close. The pain made his whole body tremble.
"Ah—huh—"
It hurt so much.
Why wasn't Shi Ciyan coming out?
Why had he closed the kitchen door?
"Yu Wei, behave yourself. After today, we can get married. If you cooperate and agree to marry me, none of this would have happened."
"Mmm mmm mmm—huh huh—"
With his jaw dislocated, Yu Wei couldn't form a single complete word. His speech was reduced to broken gasps and garbled nasal sounds, saliva trickling uncontrollably from the corner of his mouth. Seeing Lin Zerui strip off his own shirt and then reach for his clothes, Yu Wei's tears poured like a burst dam. He gripped the hem of his shirt with both hands in a silent struggle.
"So energetic, Yu Wei. It's the end of the month—shouldn't you be entering your heat period soon?" Lin Zerui gave up trying to remove his shirt when it wouldn't budge. Instead, he moved his hand to the back of Yu Wei's neck, ripped off the pheromone patch, then tore off his own and tossed it onto the coffee table. "You've got a strong Alpha pheromone scent on you. That bastard lover of yours didn't mark you. Perfect—today I'll give you a permanent mark, turn you into a bitch who has to rely on me for the rest of your life, legs weak at the mere scent of my pheromone."
Alpha pheromones surged out aggressively, gradually overpowering the faint green apple scent in the air.
Yu Wei felt dizzy, his stomach churning. He wanted to escape, but his body was too weak, as limp as a noodle. He mustered all his strength to clutch the hem of his T-shirt.
"Stubborn."
Rip—
Lin Zerui grabbed his collar and yanked. The thin T-shirt ripped in half effortlessly, and he couldn't help laughing. "Poor Yu Wei. There's nothing you can do to stop me from doing whatever I want to you."
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha—"
"What are you doing?"
