Chapter 27: Shi Ciyan, I Hate You

Yu Wei was quieted by that slap, and when they taped his mouth shut, he stayed quiet the whole way. He was carried into the warehouse and thrown onto the ground before gradually coming to his senses.

"Untie his hands and feet. He's an Omega, he can't run away." Lin Zerui sat with his legs crossed, casually playing with his phone, looking down at Yu Wei from above. "Sorry for the rough treatment. I just need your help with something."

Yu Wei glanced at the five or six burly men around him and frowned. "Why is it you again? What do you want by kidnapping me like this?"

Lin Zerui's habit of kidnapping people made him a textbook villain, destined to be brought down by the protagonist sooner or later.

"I told you, I need your help." Lin Zerui tossed his phone over. "Call your lover and tell him to come alone."

    "I don't have a lover. Don't talk nonsense."

Lin Zerui stood up, walked over, and crouched in front of him. He pinched Yu Wei's jaw with his thumb and forefinger and squeezed slightly. "Call him now. If he doesn't show up today, you'll be the one to suffer. It won't be as simple as dislocating your jaw this time. If he doesn't come, you'll lose half your life here."

The memory of having his jaw dislocated last time was still fresh, and Yu Wei's body trembled involuntarily. The sickening mix of Alpha pheromones in the car had already made him nauseous. Now, surrounded entirely by Alphas in the warehouse, he had no doubt that Lin Zerui would follow through on his threat.

"I don't know his number." Yu Wei didn't know Shi Ciyan's phone number. He hadn't even memorized his own number yet.

Lin Zerui: "If you can't remember, use your own phone to call."

Yu Wei answered honestly, "I don't have a phone. You can search me if you don't believe me."

He had no idea where Shi Ciyan had hidden his phone.

Lin Zerui's face darkened, and Yu Wei quickly added, "I left my phone at home. Let me go get it, then you can kidnap me again. I promise I'll bring my phone next time."

"Do I look like an idiot to you?" Lin Zerui had originally wanted to kidnap the lover, but after weeks of searching without finding a trace, he had resorted to plan B and grabbed Yu Wei instead. He intended to use him to lure the lover out, but he wasn't planning to let Yu Wei off easy either.

    "Strip him."

    Creak—

The dilapidated warehouse door was pushed open. Lin Zerui looked up and raised an eyebrow in surprise at the newcomer. "It's been months. Seems like your lover is really devoted to you."

It hadn't been a waste to risk grabbing Yu Wei in broad daylight. He had actually managed to lure in the one he truly wanted.

    ...

Shi Ciyan found a suitable wooden stick by the wall and kept a safe distance as he followed.

Inside the abandoned warehouse, it was empty, so every sound echoed. Shi Ciyan stood at the entrance and peeked inside.

He had been wondering who would be bold enough to kidnap Yu Wei in such a blatant manner.

He hadn't expected that Lin Zerui, whom he thought was already out of the picture, would still be causing trouble.

Truly someone who wouldn't shed a tear until they saw the coffin.

The warehouse was large, and Shi Ciyan was far from them. Even with the echoes, he couldn't make out every word, but he got the gist.

That waste wanted revenge but couldn't catch him, so he grabbed Yu Wei to lure him out.

Shi Ciyan weighed the wooden stick in his hand and looked at Yu Wei, who was sitting on the floor, tears streaming down his face. "Since it's me you're after, let him go first."

"Fine. Then take this first." Lin Zerui pulled out a prepared sedative and tossed it to Shi Ciyan.

Today, Yu Wei wasn't the main target. Shi Ciyan was.

He could take revenge on Yu Wei anytime, even if he hid in the Yu family home. But finding Shi Ciyan had taken too long, and he didn't want to miss this chance.

Last time, he couldn't beat Shi Ciyan. This time, he was prepared.

Shi Ciyan picked up the syringe without hesitation and injected the drug into his arm. He tossed the empty syringe on the ground and waved at Yu Wei. "Come here."

Yu Wei snapped out of his daze and scrambled over to Shi Ciyan, hiding in his arms, his voice trembling. "What did you inject...?"

"What happened to your face?" Shi Ciyan took off his coat and draped it over Yu Wei. He gently touched Yu Wei's swollen cheek and said softly, "There's a blue car behind the old house a hundred meters to the left of the warehouse. The keys are in my pocket. Take it and drive away."

"What about you? What drug did you just take? Why did he make you do that..." Before Shi Ciyan arrived, Yu Wei had only been afraid. But the moment he walked in, all the grievance welled up, and he couldn't stop crying. Tears flowed endlessly, and the harder he tried to wipe them away, the more they came. "I want to go with you."

"You've cried so many times lately. How do you still have so many tears?" Shi Ciyan said helplessly. "I can't wipe them all away with just two hands."

    Yu Wei cried even harder.

He wished he hadn't run off today. He didn't know what grudge Lin Zerui had against Shi Ciyan, and he didn't know what drug Shi Ciyan had just taken, but whatever Lin Zerui gave him couldn't be good.

    He was scared.

Shi Ciyan couldn't fight off those burly Alphas alone. He didn't dare leave Shi Ciyan behind. "We leave together or not at all."

"Don't be difficult. You still have a child in your belly." Shi Ciyan frowned. "Go back to the Yu family and wait for me. I'll come find you. Don't run off again. If I don't come for you soon, go to the city center hospital and find Chen Lv. He'll arrange..."

Before he could say "the surgery," Yu Wei suddenly lost control of his emotions and interrupted, "You're still worried about the child at a time like this?"

Child, child, always the child. If it weren't for this child, would he even have come today?

"I want an abortion," Yu Wei said viciously. "I'll get an abortion as soon as I get out. It won't matter even if you come looking for me."

Perhaps the drug was starting to take effect. Shi Ciyan felt dizzy, his vision blurring, and his ears ringing. He couldn't hear Yu Wei clearly.

"Child? My fiancée is pregnant?" Lin Zerui suddenly laughed. "Catch them both. Let me see what a pregnant Omega tastes like..."

Shi Ciyan shook his head, tightened his grip on the wooden stick, and pushed Yu Wei behind him without looking back. "Go now. Wait for me at home obediently. If you run off again and make it hard for me to find you, I won't let you off easy."

    "Shi Ciyan, I hate you."

Yu Wei wiped his tears with the back of his hand and ran out without looking back.

Shi Ciyan's mind was full of the child, but Yu Wei had actually been worried about whether he would get hurt, wanting to stay.

But he was the protagonist. He wouldn't die. Why was he even worried?

Yu Wei cried until his vision blurred, but his ears were sharp enough to hear the dull thuds and agonized groans behind him.

He repeated to himself that Shi Ciyan was the protagonist and wouldn't die. He didn't dare look back as he ran. He jogged all the way to the car, climbed into the driver's seat, and finally caught his breath.

From inside the car, he could no longer hear any sounds. The surroundings were dead silent. But his tears wouldn't stop, like an endless spring, gushing out in waves.

He didn't dare stay there long. He sobbed as he fumbled for the keys and started the engine.

The warehouse Lin Zerui had chosen was in the opposite direction from his home. He drove through the city and back to his suburban villa.

His eyes were so swollen from crying that he could barely keep them open.

His fever had just gone down, and after a day of running around, he felt lightheaded by the time he got home. He took a hot bath. On the way, he had stopped to borrow someone's phone and call the police. He didn't know how Shi Ciyan was doing.

    He probably wouldn't die.

He is the protagonist; he won’t die.

Yu Wei could only comfort himself with this thought.

He tidied himself up, switched to his own car, and drove back to the Yu family home.

Bai Sijia was both pleased and worried to see him back early. Pleased because he looked a bit plumper—his face was rounder than it had been two weeks ago. Worried because Yu Wei said he wanted to go abroad.

Yu Wei was fine when he first got back. He stayed home for three days, then on the fourth day, during breakfast, he suddenly brought up going abroad, startling Bai Sijia so much she took two blood pressure pills one after another.

“Things are fine at home. Why go abroad?” Bai Sijia muttered, washing down the pills with a sip of water. “You’ve never left us before. If you’re abroad and we’re not there, how will you manage on your own?”

“I can handle it,” Yu Wei said, lowering his head and quietly eating breakfast.

Even though he’d only passed CET-4 and not CET-6, he could survive abroad.

Every time he closed his eyes now, he could still hear Shi Ciyan’s words—telling him to stay put, that no matter where he ran, Shi Ciyan would catch him and bring him back.

But three full days had passed, and Shi Ciyan hadn’t come.

He didn’t believe Shi Ciyan could find him if he hid overseas.

“Is it really necessary to go abroad?” Yu Cheng, who had been silent until now, suddenly asked.

Yu Wei nodded firmly. “I have to go.”

Yu Cheng pressed further, “Where are you heading?”

Yu Wei hadn’t thought that far. “I haven’t decided yet. Anywhere's fine.” As long as it’s not in this country.

    Yu Cheng said, “Okay.”

Bai Sijia shot Yu Cheng a furious glare and whispered into his ear, “What are you doing? How's he supposed to live abroad on his own…”

“He's grown up. Don't treat him like he's fragile,” Yu Cheng replied casually. “If you want to go, then go. If you don't have a preference, go to Germany.”

Yu Wei had no objection. “Fine. I’ll start preparing right away. The sooner I leave, the better.”

Yu Cheng added, “Ling Heyu has delayed his graduation. If you go to Germany, he can look after you a bit.”

“What?” Yu Wei was taken aback. “Ling Heyu?”

Yu Wei suddenly remembered he still owed him a hundred yuan and hadn’t paid it back.

    He hesitated, then agreed.

For one thing, his English was poor, and he knew nothing of German. Communicating with people in Germany would be difficult. If Ling Heyu could help him out a bit, that wouldn’t be bad.

That settled it, but Bai Sijia was still reluctant.

Now that Yu Song had moved out, staying away from the protagonist lowered the chance of him becoming a disposable side character or cannon fodder, which also greatly reduced the danger to the Yu family.

With their danger gone, Yu Wei could leave with more peace of mind.

Yu Wei packed slowly over two days. There were no uninvited guests, and each day passed in extreme monotony.

On the day of departure, Yu Wei woke up early. To put it another way, he had been up all night from insomnia, staring out the window, watching the moon slowly disappear into the clouds.

His flight was in the afternoon. At noon, Bai Sijia ordered a huge feast.

They chatted and laughed for more than an hour, but Yu Wei felt an inexplicable emptiness in his heart.

At three in the afternoon, they made it to the airport on time.

Bai Sijia hugged him and cried for a long while, telling him to call every day, to eat and drink well, and not to let himself suffer.

When the boarding announcement came, she reluctantly let go of Yu Wei, her eyes all red from crying. “If you miss home, be sure to come back.”

Yu Wei forced a faint smile. “Okay, Mom. I’m leaving.”

He didn’t want to leave either, but…

Yu Wei touched his belly and smiled bitterly. He had to get far away from this place.

“Mom, I…” Yu Wei started, but the words got stuck in his throat. He was afraid that if he said it, Bai Sijia wouldn’t let him leave.

Seeing him hesitate there, Bai Sijia asked gently, “What’s wrong?”

“If Yu Song asks, just tell him I went on a trip to relax and clear my head. Don’t tell him I’m going to Germany.”

Author’s note: Weiwei is going abroad, and the little one is about to be born~
