Chapter 43: Let's Get Married (End)

Bai Sijia went to the restroom, and when she came out, only Yu Wei and An'an were left in the living room. She looked around but didn't see Ling Heyu, so she asked.

"Where's Xiaoyu?" she sat down beside Yu Wei and asked.

Yu Wei lowered his head, his expression unreadable. His voice was very soft, "He went back. He probably won't come again."

"Almost mealtime. Didn't we say we'd eat before he left?"

Bai Sijia didn't react at first and took out her phone to call him, but Yu Wei stopped her, "Mom, he won't come. No need to call."

"Did you two have a falling out?" Bai Sijia gave him a skeptical look. "Weren't you two just fine?"

Yu Wei shook his head and said nothing.

When Ling Heyu heard Shi Ciyan's name, he was silent for a long time, then said in a flat tone, "I see," and got up to leave. Yu Wei tried to get him to stay for dinner, but Ling Heyu refused, claiming he was busy and took off.

Last time he rejected Ling Heyu, he swore up and down he didn't like Shi Ciyan, that there was no possibility between them. He even said he liked Omegas, not Alphas. Now, less than two weeks later, he had gone back on his word. Ling Heyu probably thought he had made up all those lies just to turn him down.

Yu Wei could understand why he was angry.

But this matter was hard to explain. Back then, he really thought Shi Ciyan was the protagonist and that he could never be with him.

Besides, he had always considered himself straight.

Even though he was now an Omega and Shi Ciyan an Alpha, which wasn't gay, in Yu Wei's mind, they were both still guys.

But Shi Ciyan didn't see him as a man. He sent roses every day, like chasing after a schoolgirl.

Yu Wei received the flowers every day and commented, "Such a cheesy way to pursue someone. Send me a handwritten love letter and it'll be even tackier."

Unexpectedly, Shi Ciyan took him seriously. The next day, besides the flowers, there was also a handwritten love letter.

So corny, he almost thought he had traveled back in time twenty years.

But he had to admit, handwritten love letters and roses were romantic. Yu Wei, in a fit of impulsiveness, went home with Shi Ciyan.

When he was carried into bed in a daze, Yu Wei suddenly snapped back to reality.

Yu Wei complained, "Shi Ciyan, is this how you court someone?"

Shi Ciyan paused for a moment, raised his head, and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Just a bouquet of flowers and a love letter, and you're asking me what's wrong?" Yu Wei pinched his face and snorted. "And you're always dragging me into bed. We're not even together yet."

Shi Ciyan chuckled softly, his voice deep and pleasant, "Don't you like it?"

He did like it, but Shi Ciyan was so rich and yet he just sent roses every day to brush him off.

    "I want a car, I want a house, I want your money."

Shi Ciyan smiled gently, "Alright, wait a little longer. Can I kiss you now?"

Yu Wei turned his head away, avoiding his kiss, "No, you haven't won me over yet."

"Then when will I get promoted?"

Yu Wei thought for a few seconds, "Depends on your performance."

Shi Ciyan: "What kind of performance? The way I pursue you?"

Yu Wei hugged him and kissed him actively, mumbling, "Tonight's performance."

    ...

Yu Wei had casually asked for his money, and Shi Ciyan said to wait, so he didn't take it seriously.

That day, as usual, he took a shower, changed clothes, glanced at his phone, and saw there was still some time before Shi Ciyan would pick him up. He spent a while fixing his hair in front of the mirror. His phone on the vanity dinged. Without looking, Yu Wei knew it was Shi Ciyan, and he immediately unlocked the screen.

Shi Ciyan sent him a voice message, telling him to come down with An'an.

Yu Wei put down his phone, quickly smoothed down his hair, and went downstairs.

Downstairs, Yu An was already dressed, sitting in Bai Sijia's arms with a bottle of milk.

"If you're going on a date, why bring An'an?" Bai Sijia disapproved.

Before, they had never taken An'an on their dates. But this time, Shi Ciyan insisted on bringing him, and Yu Wei agreed.

He felt like something was going to happen today, but he wasn't sure.

"Make sure you take good care of An'an."

Bai Sijia reminded him repeatedly before he left.

Yu Wei said okay a few times and walked out the door to find Shi Ciyan. He came over, took the child, and kissed Yu Wei.

"An'an's right here," Yu Wei shot him a glare.

An'an stared with big, curious eyes.

"It's fine, he doesn't have a clue yet."

    Yu Wei: "..." Shameless.

Shi Ciyan kissed him again, holding An'an with one hand and opening the passenger door for Yu Wei with the other.

On the passenger seat was a bouquet of flowers. Although he received one every day, Yu Wei couldn't help the smile that crept onto his face.

Shi Ciyan closed the passenger door, placed An'an in the dedicated seat in the back, fastened his seatbelt, and then returned to the driver's seat.

"Where are we going that you have to bring An'an?" Yu Wei played with the petals while looking for the love letter, but after searching for a while, he didn't find one. "Where's today's love letter? Are you slacking off on writing me one?"

Shi Ciyan started the car and merged into traffic, "It's been a while since I saw An'an."

"Didn't you see him just yesterday?" Yu Wei squinted suspiciously, trying to read something different in his expression.

But Shi Ciyan explained with a straight face, "I meant it's been a while since you, An'an, and I had a meal together."

Yu Wei let out a disappointed "Oh." He had thought they were going to have a candlelit dinner and that Shi Ciyan would confess to him.

Guess he was worrying for nothing.

Shi Ciyan drove for about half an hour before parking. Along the way, Yu Wei was nodding off holding the bouquet, while An'an in the back seat was well-behaved, looking around curiously.

When they got out, Shi Ciyan picked up An'an, held him in one arm, and led Yu Wei upstairs with the other hand.

Yu Wei had never been to this restaurant. When he walked in, it was completely empty.

“How come there’s no one here? It’s not that the food’s bad, is it?” Yu Wei glanced around, feeling a bit worried.

He skipped dinner to save his appetite for this meal, and he was still hungry.

“No, I booked the whole place out,” Shi Ciyan said calmly.

Yu Wei’s heart skipped a beat. That strange feeling came again—could Shi Ciyan really be planning to confess to him?

The thought that he might actually make a formal confession made his palms sweat with nerves.

Shi Ciyan had indeed prepared a candlelit dinner for him. Except for when they were serving the food, the restaurant staff had disappeared to who knows where.

The food at this restaurant was really good, perfectly suiting Yu Wei’s taste.

They sat facing each other on opposite sides of the table, while Yu An sat in his stroller, holding his bottle and drinking his milk all cute and soft.

    Strangely harmonious.

After finishing the meal, Shi Ciyan finally stood up. Yu Wei watched him walk over, his heart racing.

“Today, instead of a love letter, I’m giving you a property transfer contract.” Shi Ciyan placed the contract in front of Yu Wei, then took out a pen and handed it to him. “Over the past few days, I’ve organized all my assets—everything’s listed in the contract. It’s all yours.”

Yu Wei’s eyes gradually widened. He stared at him in disbelief, unable to wrap his head around it.

He flipped through a few pages casually, and the more he saw, the more shocked he became.

“If you give it all to me, what will you do?” If he signed this contract, Shi Ciyan wouldn’t even have tuition for next semester.

“I’ll live off you,” Shi Ciyan said, taking a deep breath. He pulled a ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee. “Yu Wei, will you marry me?”

Shi Ciyan knelt on the floor, holding the ring up as he looked at him. Behind him, An’an tilted his head curiously, watching.

Candlelight flickered, and the restaurant’s soft music played at the perfect volume.

    Everything was perfect.

Yu Wei’s brain short-circuited; he couldn’t process it for a moment.

When Shi Ciyan insisted Yu Wei bring An’an today, he’d already felt something was off.

They had never brought An’an on their dates before.

So he thought Shi Ciyan was going to confess his feelings—never once had he imagined it would be a marriage proposal.

And he was even transferring all his assets to him.

Shi Ciyan waited patiently for a long time, without urging him, quietly letting him figure it out on his own.

“Shi Ciyan, I never planned to get married.” After a really long time—so long that Shi Ciyan’s knees had gone numb—Yu Wei finally spoke. “But if it’s you, then I’m willing.”

At the first sentence, Shi Ciyan’s heart leaped into his throat.

At the second, he breathed a sigh of relief.

He hadn’t been one hundred percent sure about today’s proposal. He didn’t doubt that Yu Wei liked him, but he was afraid Yu Wei wouldn’t want to get married—after all, he’d said many times he never wanted to get married.

Shi Ciyan gently took Yu Wei’s hand and slid the ring onto his ring finger.

“Yuwei, thank you for not turning me down.”

Yu Wei touched the ring on his finger, feeling a warm, tingly sensation in his heart. His smile uncontrollably widened. He pulled Shi Ciyan to his feet. “Come on, get up.”

Shi Ciyan’s legs were numb; as he stood, he leaned into Yu Wei.

Yu Wei didn’t push him away; he let him embrace him. “You made me bring An’an out just for the proposal?”

“Mhm. Whether you accepted or not, this was an important moment to me. I wanted our son An’an to be here.”

The only audience member, An’an: “…”

    …

The wedding date was set for September 29th, an auspicious day that Shi Ciyan had someone calculate.

From the proposal to the wedding, it was less than ten days. Time was tight. Yu Wei and Shi Ciyan woke up early and went to bed late every day, finally wrapping everything up two days before the wedding.

Shi Ciyan had no parents, no relatives or friends—he didn’t even remember his high school classmates anymore.

He only invited his college classmates.

As for Yu Wei, he found himself even worse off. Apart from his parents and Ling Heyu, he had no one else to invite.

Forget high school—he didn’t know many people in this world, not a single college classmate.

But as long as the important guests showed up, he was satisfied.

His only friend, Ling Heyu—he’d thought Ling Heyu might not come, or might have blocked him and wanted nothing more to do with him. But unexpectedly, he showed up the earliest on the wedding day and gave him a huge red envelope.

Ling Heyu had lost a lot of weight, with tired eyes.

When Yu Wei asked, he just said work had been keeping him busy.

On the wedding day, Yu Wei started preparing early in the morning. By the afternoon, with the ceremony about to begin, he still hadn’t seen Shi Ciyan.

Half an hour before the ceremony, Shi Ciyan called him.

Yu Wei slipped into the dressing room and answered the phone.

Shi Ciyan had finished his side of the preparations too, just waiting for the ceremony to start.

“I want to come see you,” Shi Ciyan said in a low voice, like he was sneaking a call.

They compared where they were and sneaked out to the stairwell to meet.

They were wearing black and white suits today—same style, just different colors.

As soon as Shi Ciyan saw him, he strode over and pulled him into his arms, giving him a soft kiss on the corner of his lips. His smile was very gentle. “You look great.”

“You too.” Yu Wei’s cheeks were slightly pink, feeling a bit shy from his stare.

They huddled together in the corner, kissing sweetly for a bit. Yu Wei caught his breath. “Doesn’t this feel like we’re having a secret affair?”

Shi Ciyan: “No, we're legally husbands.”

Shi Ciyan looked at him and added, “I’m so happy right now it feels like a dream that isn't real.”

“Even if it’s a dream, it's a dream that will never end.” Yu Wei straightened his suit for him. “Shi Ciyan, let’s stay together forever, be happy forever, alright?”

    “Okay.”

At that moment, Yu Wei's pant leg was suddenly tugged, and a childish voice sounded, "Daddy..."

Shi Ciyan looked down. An'an was walking toward them unsteadily, holding the wall for support.

Yu Wei looked at An'an, now in Shi Ciyan's arms, and said, "I take back what I said just now. We three are going to be happy forever."

Shi Ciyan smiled adoringly. "Yuwei, as long as you're here, I'm happy every day."

Just as Shi Ciyan finished speaking, movement came from around the corner, and a voice said with a tone that was three parts annoyed and seven parts sarcastic, "Hmph."

Without looking, Yu Wei knew who it was. He couldn't help but laugh. "Yu Song still doesn't seem to like you."

"It's okay, as long as you like me, that's enough." Shi Ciyan smiled and reached out a hand. "Come on, it's almost time."

    "Alright."
