Chapter 23: Shi Ciyan, You Pervert

Shi Ciyan stared at him without blinking, his gaze burning, like it was trying to burn holes right through his face. Yu Wei nervously swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing, afraid that Shi Ciyan would lose control at any moment, and quickly said, “I... I remember now.”

A faint smile curled at the corner of Shi Ciyan’s lips as he shot back, “Remember?”

Yu Wei nodded vigorously, his soft hands pressing against his chest and pushing, “You’re so heavy, get up.”

“What did you remember?” Shi Ciyan seemed unwilling to let him off so easily, his tone intrigued. “Let me hear it.”

“I, I, I...” Yu Wei’s face went blank, stammering without a complete sentence.

Fortunately, Shi Ciyan didn’t press him. He lightly flicked his nose, got up, and smiled, “You little liar, you clearly don’t remember anything.”

Yu Wei had slept deeply that day. At first, Shi Ciyan worried about waking him, but later he found that no matter how he moved him, he wouldn’t stir, only curling into his arms like a kitten, whimpering softly. He hadn’t opened his eyes the entire time. If his breathing hadn’t been normal and he hadn’t made sounds, Shi Ciyan would have thought he was unconscious. There was no way he’d remember anything.

“Alright, no more messing with you. Get up, wash your face, and head downstairs for breakfast.” Shi Ciyan pulled back the covers, helped Yu Wei up, and once he had his slippers on, picked him up and headed toward the bathroom.

“Aren’t we going to eat? What are you doing now?” Yu Wei glanced at the bathroom door, his internal alarm bells ringing. He now dreaded the bathroom too.

“I’m taking you to get cleaned up.”

“I can do it on my own.”

He struggled to get down, but Shi Ciyan only held him tighter, patting his thigh lightly, “Be good.”

After last night, Yu Wei dared not speak his mind. He shot him a weak glare that didn’t faze him, and shut his mouth, frustrated.

The bathroom entrance faced the vanity, with a non-slip mat in front of it. Shi Ciyan gently set Yu Wei down on the mat. As soon as Yu Wei’s feet touched the ground, his legs gave out, unable to support him, and he started to slide down. An arm from behind wrapped around his waist just in time to keep him from falling.

Shi Ciyan held him with one hand while reaching for something with the other, grabbing a new toothbrush, toothpaste, and cup, placing them in front of Yu Wei. “From now on, the blue set is yours.”

Yu Wei looked at the only bright color in the bathroom—the red toothbrush and cup—and his expression was complicated. “That red set is yours? Your taste... it’s very festive.”

Shi Ciyan wasn’t upset. He placed his red cup beside Yu Wei’s blue one. “Red and blue are the perfect pair. It doesn’t matter if it looks good; being a pair with you is what counts. I figured you wouldn’t use a big red cup, so I took it for myself.”

Yu Wei’s lips twitched, and he said sarcastically, “How considerate of you. Thank you so much.”

Shi Ciyan leaned down and kissed his cheek. “Anytime.”

Yu Wei rolled his eyes at him. “Get out. I’ve got it.”

Even if just for a second, he wanted to be alone.

“I’ll wait here until you finish brushing, then I’ll carry you downstairs.” Shi Ciyan wrapped his arms around Yu Wei from behind, staring at him in the mirror, his eyes trailing down to the gaping collar. Under the blue bear pajamas, Yu Wei’s jade-white skin was covered in patchy red marks, like rose petals scattered across a snowy field, a jarring mix of pure and sinful.

Suddenly, a pair of delicate white hands entered his view, pulling the collar shut, covering every inch of skin. Shi Ciyan stopped for a beat, then looked up to meet Yu Wei’s warning glare.

    Shi Ciyan really regretted it.

Man, so stingy, wouldn’t even let him look.

Since he couldn’t look, he’d just have to look at his face. His hands were wandering too, absentmindedly touching his belly to kill time.

Yu Wei tried to stop him a few times but failed, so he gave up trying.

As he watched, he suddenly noticed that the bathroom mirror only reflected Yu Wei’s upper body; everything below the waist was out of sight.

The vanity was installed at a height that suited Shi Ciyan, but it was a bit too high for Yu Wei.

“Babe, don’t you think this mirror’s too small?” Yu Wei froze at the nickname, pausing for two seconds before keeping on brushing, acting like he didn’t hear him.

Shi Ciyan continued despite his silence, “I can’t see your whole body, can I?”

When he said that, Yu Wei choked and coughed into the sink, his face flushed red. He spat out the white foam, a bitter toothpaste taste lingering in his mouth. “You... you pervert.”

“How am I a pervert? Oh?” He suddenly caught on, raising an eyebrow. “What were you thinking, babe?”

Yu Wei’s cheeks burned a deep crimson, and he hurriedly said, “Nothing.”

But Shi Ciyan didn’t let it go, staring straight at him in the mirror. “A pervert? Babe, you were the happiest in here last night, the most excited too.”

The memories came creeping back, and Yu Wei’s face turned as red as if it were bleeding. “Shut up, I wasn’t.”

“Fine, I’ll shut up.” Shi Ciyan stopped, not wanting to truly anger him. “Fine, I’m a pervert. Babe, don’t be upset. Hurry up and brush your teeth. Your tummy’s growling.”

Yu Wei turned his anger into energy, brushing more aggressively. He quickly finished, and as soon as he finished, Shi Ciyan scooped him up and carried him downstairs.

“You’re starving. By the time you walk down, the food will be cold. It’s faster if I carry you.”

Yu Wei let out a little snort, turning his head away. Shi Ciyan smiled without a word, setting him down on a chair before going to the living room to grab a cushion, making Yu Wei more comfortable.

“Wait a moment. I’ll reheat the dishes and set them out.”

He’d made four dishes and a soup. He reheated everything, arranged them, and then brought out the soup he had been simmering all afternoon.

On the large dining table, all the dishes were squeezed into the small area in front of Yu Wei. Shi Ciyan pulled up a chair, sitting right next to him, their arms touching.

Yu Wei: “...” Even at meals, he had to sit pressed against him. Were they conjoined twins?

He hated people with no sense of boundaries, including the protagonist.

But Yu Wei only dared to complain silently, not showing a trace.

The reason was simple: he was scared.

He was one step away from total collapse, afraid that if he provoked Shi Ciyan, next time his bones would be completely shattered.

Forget it, pressed together was fine. He had expended too much energy last night; now he needed to eat a couple more bowls of rice to regain some strength, and then he’d bolt.

What protagonist, what not. Yu Song hadn’t provoked the two protagonists, but now he had. Either way he was dead. According to the original novel, starving on the street was better than dying from exhaustion in bed—more dignified.

    But...

Why was there only one set of chopsticks and bowls? Shi Ciyan had already picked up the only bowl and chopsticks on the table to serve rice.

What, was the food not for him? Was he only allowed to look?

Or was he so poor he didn’t even have extra bowls and chopsticks?

Living in such a luxurious three-story villa, yet so destitute?

“Shi Ciyan, are you very poor?” Yu Wei stared at the food on the table, drooling.

Shi Ciyan paused in dishing the rice, not understanding why he asked. “Hmm? Not really.”

"You want to starve me? Not even a bite of food?"

"What goes through your head all day?" Shi Ciyan chuckled. He filled the bowl, picked up a piece of vegetable with his chopsticks, and brought it to Yu Wei's lips. "Open up. I know you always eat a mouthful of vegetables first, then rice."

Yu Wei leaned back to avoid it. "What are you doing? I can eat by myself."

"But I want to feed you." Shi Ciyan stubbornly held the vegetable to his lips again. "Baby, won't you eat? You're too tired. If you don't eat, you won't have any strength."

Yu Wei's heart skipped a beat. The look in Shi Ciyan's eyes just now seemed to have seen through his plan to eat his fill and gather strength to make a run for it, but he acted as if he didn't care, as if it wouldn't matter even if he really ran.

Shi Ciyan didn't give him chopsticks, and Yu Wei wanted to eat. They were locked in a standoff for a while until Yu Wei finally relented and opened his mouth to snatch the vegetable from the chopsticks.

Everything Shi Ciyan made was his favorite. During the days he worked as his assistant, he had already thoroughly learned his eating habits.

He fed him in the order of one bite of vegetable, one bite of meat, one bite of rice, and one sip of soup. Yu Wei resisted at first but had no choice but to eat the food brought to his lips. Later, he completely got used to it, lounged lazily against the cushion, enjoyed the service, and even mustered the courage to give him orders twice. Shi Ciyan didn't complain at all and looked delighted.

The more Yu Wei looked, the more he thought something was wrong with him.

Can't be provoked. Better escape as soon as possible.

After the meal, Yu Wei enjoyed ordering him around, and Shi Ciyan seemed in a great mood after attending to him, taking it all without a peep of complaint.

But he got a little too carried away ordering people around, and the result was that he accidentally ate too much.

"Stuffed?" Shi Ciyan saw through his predicament at a glance. "Come lie down on the sofa. I'll rub your stomach for you."

Yu Wei immediately became alert and stepped back as if facing a great enemy. "No."

"Shy?" Shi Ciyan didn't take no for an answer as he took his hand and led him to the sofa, making Yu Wei sit down. He then put a cushion behind his lower back. "Don't worry, I won't do anything. Besides, it's not like I haven't felt your stomach before. Don't be so tense."

Yu Wei half reclined on the sofa, his belly exposed, his whole body rigid.

Shi Ciyan's palm was wide and warm. Because he held a pen for long periods, the pads of his right fingers were calloused, especially the side of his middle finger, with a hard callus that always gave him a unique sensation each time.

Under his skilled massage, Yu Wei's stiff body gradually softened. Shi Ciyan kneaded and pressed his stomach, and Yu Wei's eyes grew dreamy with pleasure, his eyelids getting heavier.

Can't sleep, can't sleep. He still had to run away.

Yu Wei silently told himself over a dozen times, but in the end, the drowsiness overcame him, and he fell asleep.

"Let me massage your legs and hands, okay?" Yu Wei heard Shi Ciyan's gentle voice just before he completely lost consciousness.

His thighs were sore, and his calves were trembling when he walked. As for his hands, Yu Wei felt that if this continued, he'd get tendonitis.

So Yu Wei mumbled a dazed "mmhmm" and passed out completely.

Shi Ciyan knelt on the floor, looking at Yu Wei's defenseless sleeping face, momentarily at a loss for words. Yesterday, he had imagined that Yu Wei would make a big fuss, or sneak out when he wasn't around, or ask him why.

But definitely not this—like a silly little lamb, showing its belly to a hungry wolf that had been starving for a long time, snoring away without a care.

He stared for a long time, then let out a helpless sigh. "Baby, how are you so easy to trick? I'm really worried that you'll get taken by someone the moment I look away. So I want to lock you up where I can see you, so we never have to be apart. Okay?"
