Chapter 17: Wastes Die from Talking Too Much

"Is the director determined to protect Yuan Feng?"

"Was it unintentional? Who would believe that?!"

"Yuan Feng wanted to cripple me!"

"I don't care. Either he goes or I do in this variety show!"

Lying in the rest room, Lu Yuanhang was incredibly agitated, venting his anger at the director's assistant.

He didn’t believe that, as the younger brother of a major investor, he couldn’t get rid of a newcomer in the entertainment industry!

He wanted to make an example out of Yuan Feng—show everyone that no matter how famous or promising a star might be, their career would end if they crossed him!

"Alright, I'll go tell the boss," said the assistant, turning to leave.

Lu Yuanhang froze and quickly sat up. "What are you going to say?!"

"That you're requesting to go home for medical leave," the assistant replied matter-of-factly.

    Lu Yuanhang’s expression twisted. "You—"

The assistant smiled. "Let me give you a friendly reminder. Yuan Feng didn’t overstep; you were the one who approached him. It was self-defense. Saying he crippled you is a bit exaggerated. After all, he only made a move to restrain you."

Lu Yuanhang couldn’t find any words to retort and could only gape.

So, the assistant continued, "The director said if your arm injury prevents you from filming, we can send you off the island today. Otherwise, forget about it."

Watching the assistant strut away, Lu Yuanhang pounded the bed in frustration. In the next second, he grabbed his phone and angrily typed a message:

"Hire trolls to destroy Yuan Feng! I want him to be cursed out of the industry!"

His agent received the message and replied with a simple, "Okay."

An assistant glanced over. "Is Second Young Master Lu losing it again?"

"Leave him be," the agent said, lifting a glass. "Keep drinking!"

    ---

Stepping out, Lu Yuanhang saw the other guests standing on the training field, seemingly unaffected, chatting casually,

"I’m exhausted. There’s no way I can get into the pit tonight!"

"If there’s an emergency assembly, I won’t hear a thing."

"My back will ache tomorrow. I should have brought some pain relief patches!"

"I’ll ask the medics if they have any."

    "..."

The guests chattered as they walked toward the cafeteria, completely ignoring Lu Yuanhang as they passed by.

Lu Yuanhang took a deep breath and consoled himself,

Bad news: None of the guests in this variety show are normal.

Good news: He wouldn’t be last during the emergency assembly tonight.

Thus, Lu Yuanhang forced himself to stay awake until midnight, when the assembly announcement finally blared overhead.

"Within five minutes, get dressed and assemble on the field."

"The last person will be punished!"

    "Again, within five minutes..."

He jumped up, grabbing his camouflage uniform and hastily putting it on. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw several shadows darting out.

    What the hell?!

    So fast?!

Lu Yuanhang quickened his movements, finally pulling on his pants and shoes before rushing to the door.

    But someone bumped into him,

causing him to stumble a few steps, nearly falling flat on his face.

    Looking up, he saw—

It was Zhou Nan, who had said he definitely couldn’t get into the pit tonight?!

    Damn it?!

    Playing me?

The last person stood still, and Feng Dayuan sternly said, "Lu Yuanhang, twenty laps, now. Run them and then sleep."

"The rest of you can go."

Lu Yuanhang took another deep breath, suppressing the urge to kill, and headed toward the track.

    ---

    The next day was overcast.

Feng Dayuan stood in front of the team and began to introduce the training, "Have you all played real-life outdoor CS before? For the upcoming battle royale mission, the show has arranged a similar course."

"Of course, we won't be using real guns, but your opponents aren't simple."

"How complicated can they be? Are you telling me you're bringing in actual soldiers?" Lu Yuanhang spoke up with dissatisfaction.

He thought the punishment was just for show,

but he didn't expect Feng Dayuan to actually watch him run twenty laps last night,

with no mercy even when he begged for leniency. It was inhumane!

Feng Dayuan gave him a cold look, his smile not reaching his eyes, "You guessed right."

"Are you crazy?" Lu Yuanhang clearly hadn't expected such an answer, looking incredulous. "Fighting professional soldiers is like being crushed, isn't it?"

Jian Li curled his lips, "Normal."

"If ordinary people fight you, you get crushed too."

"Think about it this way; does that make you feel better?"

Lu Yuanhang turned his head, his eyes filled with anger, "Can you shut up? Can't you see this variety show is exploiting us? No one can handle this level of training!"

The four pretending to be 'undercover agents' chimed in, "...Yeah, exactly, no one can handle it!"

Why does this useless guy always talk so much?!

Is he trying to lead others to guess my identity?!

Sure enough, the live chat started flooding with comments,

"My brain is starting to itch. I feel like some guests are acting strange, as if they're hiding their true strength!"

"Who was it yesterday?! Claiming they couldn't get up, but sprinted out of the dorm at the sound of the whistle?!"

"Hahaha, yes! In the edited version, Lu Yuanhang got pushed down, and Luo Xiaohong stepped on his hand without hesitation!"

"The only one who can't handle it seems to be Lu Yuanhang, right?!"

"What?! Real-life CS?! Against professionals?! I'm getting excited! Rubbing my hands together!"

    "..."

Unsurprisingly, Lu Yuanhang's protest was ineffective.

Under Feng Dayuan's lead, the guests arrived at the pre-arranged battlefield.

On the table were paintball guns, tactical hats, bulletproof vests, health points, C4 bombs... everything looked very professional.

Jian Li's eyes lit up, wanting to go over and gear up, but Feng Dayuan's voice interrupted him,

"To add more fun, everyone needs to draw a role card to determine their position or task within the team."

"Such a hassle." Lu Yuanhang muttered under his breath.

Ignoring him, Feng Dayuan continued, "Keep your tasks secret because there are undercover agents among you. If exposed, the enemy will easily win."

    "Undercover agents?!"

Some guests with special identities repeated the word, then forced a stiff smile.

"I have no experience with this kind of task. Please don't let me draw it," Yuan Feng scratched his head, saying it as if to himself.

Someone else chimed in, "Funny, same here."

    "Me too!"

    "..."

While the undercover agents were putting on a show, Jian Li had already stepped forward, drew a card, glanced at it, and stuffed it into his pocket.

    Huo Xiao followed closely behind.

    The other guests also approached.

The last card fell to Lu Yuanhang. He looked at it, his expression tensing, then a strange smile appeared as he thought of something,

Become an undercover agent and report teammates' positions in real-time?

This task is perfect for me!

With me around, none of you will win!
