Chapter 5 Kidnapped! You’ve Hurt Someone You Shouldn’t Have…
byChapter 5: Abducted! You Hurt Someone You Shouldn't Have...
The police in B City were remarkably swift. Before the new forum post could go viral, He Yan was already taken into custody.
News of He Yan, a teacher at Seventh Middle School, being arrested on suspicion of threatening, intimidating, defrauding, and harassing a minor student, spread like wildfire across campus, reigniting the school forum's activity.
Over a dozen videos, filmed from various angles, depicting Yu Xing's fall, flooded the forum.
Yet, from every angle, Yu Xing’s words before she jumped were crystal clear. And He Yan’s face, as he rushed to the window to look down after her fall, was clearly seen by the students present.
An instigator, eager for drama, posted on the forum:
"He Yan leveraged his position to pressure Yu Xing, pushing her to jump!"
The original poster replied:
[I have a relative in the police department. The authorities have already reviewed the surveillance footage—He Yan did indeed engage in threatening behavior. His career is officially over.]
At this point, the police had only confirmed threats and intimidation, not any other charges. But the forum users paid no mind to such details; all they knew was that He Yan had truly used his position to persecute Yu Xing, leading to her jump.
[Holy cow! It’s actually true! He Yan is a disgrace to the teaching profession!]
[Poor Yu Xing, forced to jump by such a beast.]
[This is so strange. He Yan always had a good reputation—no one’s ever heard of him having inappropriate thoughts about any student before.]
[Can’t you figure it out? Which student in our school is easy to mess with? Except for Yu Xing, who’s from District D.]
[Thinking about it that way makes Yu Xing’s situation even more tragic.]
[Did Yu Xing take over the school forum today? Why is everything about her?]
[Did I miss something? Last class, everyone was still talking about Yu Xing and Yun Dai’s relationship drama. Now it’s all about He Yan and Yu Xing?]
[...]
Yu Xing remained oblivious to her renewed status as a hot topic. She was currently in the school infirmary, where two female police officers were conducting routine questioning by her bedside.
Yu Xing survived the fall, though she was injured. The injuries weren’t severe—her hand was hurt, but after treatment in the infirmary, it had mostly recovered.
Here’s what happened: Yu Xing jumped decisively because she believed she wouldn't die. With modern science so advanced, as long as she didn't die on impact, she'd likely survive. Plus, she had checked the floor—it wasn’t particularly high.
However, she had underestimated Seventh Middle School, and indeed, modern technology.
As she jumped, a figure suddenly shot up from the ground, catching her mid-air.
The discipline robot, Li Mao, caught Yu Xing in the air, his calm, deep voice stating, "Student Yu Xing, jumping from buildings is a dangerous and discouraged behavior. This is not something a good child should do."
Almost instantly, a panel popped up in Yu Xing’s vision.
"Level 1 Broomstick Star: 4/250."
Yu Xing: "..."
The next second, the slowly descending robot Li Mao suddenly malfunctioned, plummeting straight down. Even as he fell, he tightly shielded Yu Xing, but due to the malfunction, he squeezed too hard, dislocating Yu Xing’s wrist.
Thus, Yu Xing’s only injury from the jump was a dislocated wrist.
"Student Yu Xing," the female officer in front of her spoke very gently, "We will continue to investigate the specifics of the incident. For now, your priority is to rest well and not let others’ actions cause you distress."
Yu Xing nodded, then asked with some concern, "So, I won’t be forcibly expelled, right?"
The original host’s family had, after all, cherished this opportunity for schooling, and Yu Xing didn’t want to be inexplicably expelled.
"Of course not." The female officer, who had seen the surveillance footage, looked at Yu Xing with sympathy. "You are the victim. The school has no reason to expel you."
"Really?" Yu Xing was a bit skeptical, given her identity. "But I’m a 'Defective Person.'"
The officer’s breath hitched, and she felt even more pity for Yu Xing. She stated with utmost seriousness, "The law does not recognize the term 'Defective Person.' Even 'Defective Persons' are legal citizens of the Federation and enjoy the same rights. Please trust us, the police; we will handle this matter seriously and will never condone wrongdoing, regardless of anyone's status."
Then, softening her tone, she gently added, "If you’re still uneasy, why don’t we exchange contact information? You can reach out to me for anything."
"Remember, *anything*," the officer emphasized, worried Yu Xing might not understand. "If the school mishandles this matter, you can also come to me."
Yu Xing looked at the female officer, deeply moved. Indeed, good people existed in every world.
After they exchanged contacts, Yu Xing learned the officer’s name: Linsey.
As soon as the police left, the school leadership arrived, demonstrating their high regard for the incident. They promised to handle it impartially and offer Yu Xing some compensation.
"How about this?" The school official, a round-faced man with a kindly demeanor, suggested, "You’re in your third year, facing college admissions next year. I’ve seen your grades—they’re quite good. How about the school grants you a guaranteed admission slot?"
Yu Xing was very surprised by the school’s attitude. According to the original host’s memories, "Defective Persons" held very little status in this society; if they were bullied, no one usually cared, let alone offered compensation.
And did this official even believe what he was saying? The original host’s grades were only average in class, and inconsistent at that. Where did he get the idea that her grades were "quite good"?
"Sure." Though surprised, Yu Xing readily agreed. Why refuse something that benefited her?
"Excellent, excellent!" The school official’s smile grew even brighter. "Then rest well. Don’t come to class for the next few days; recuperate at home."
Changing the subject, the official glanced towards the door and said, "I’ll handle the media outside for you. You’re still recovering and not suitable for interviews."
Yu Xing looked down at her wrist, confused. Why would a wrist injury make her unsuitable for an interview, especially since her injury had already healed?
"Alright then." Yu Xing decided that, having just transmigrated, it was best not to draw attention to herself. Interviews could wait.
"I’ll follow your advice, teacher," Yu Xing said, acting very obedient.
Satisfied, the school official left. Once out of the infirmary, he turned into an empty corner and pulled out his terminal.
Soon, a stern voice came through the terminal, "How did it go?"
"All settled," the official said obsequiously. "Yu Xing has agreed to our terms. I’ll go deal with the media now."
"Good." The person on the other end of the terminal seemed pleased with the outcome.
But the school official still had a question. "Can you tell me what exactly Yu Xing’s relationship is with Eternal Entertainment? I heard the chairman of Eternal Entertainment personally called to arrange her enrollment?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end, then: "Don’t inquire about things that don’t concern you."
With that, the call ended. The school official looked at his terminal and sighed. He was, after all, a man of some standing, but in front of these true power players, he was no different from an ant.
Yu Xing stayed in the infirmary until the afternoon, enjoying a very delicious patient meal.
She decided: she would go back to school tomorrow. If for nothing else, the lunch that wasn't nutrient paste made it worth it.
After observing her condition, the school doctor told her she could leave. Before leaving, Yu Xing remembered the strange data in her system and asked, "Can the infirmary measure mental levels?"
"No, we can’t," the school doctor, a kind woman with curly brown hair, replied. "The school doesn’t have such precise instruments. You can go to the Mental Center to get it tested, or the Central Hospital works too."
"Okay, thank you," Yu Xing said politely, expressing her gratitude before leaving the school alone.
She stood at a bus stop not far from the school, waiting for the bus. It wasn't dismissal time yet, so she was the only one there.
The bus stop in District B was very futuristic, yet even such a high-tech platform still displayed game advertisements.
"Eternal Entertainment proudly presents a brand-new, immersive holographic game: Perfect World!"
The advertisement showed a vast, endless grassland with lush green grass, tall, thriving trees, and colorful flowers, all exuding nature's vibrant vitality. For Yu Xing, who came from Earth and had been bombarded with countless game ads, this design held no appeal; it was utterly unimaginative.
Yu Xing even thought that perhaps she could work for this game company in the future, bringing Earth's advanced experience to this world to flourish, which would surely be very profitable...
Her wandering thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a faint, pitiful cry. Yu Xing looked around and realized the sound was coming from behind the bus stop. It was very faint, like the whimper of an injured puppy or kitten.
Since the bus wouldn't arrive for another five minutes, Yu Xing, without much thought, decided to go around the back of the bus stop to investigate. The moment she rounded the corner, before she could even clearly see anything, her vision went black, and she lost consciousness.
When Yu Xing woke up, she found herself lying on a cold, hard floor. Opening her eyes, she took in her surroundings. She was in a rather large, dimly lit space that looked like a warehouse.
She struggled to prop herself up, only then realizing that several people were standing around her.
All were male, seemingly young. Some wore Seventh Middle School uniforms, others casual clothes. They stood silently, staring intently at her.
Yu Xing wasn’t foolish; she quickly understood that she had likely been knocked out and brought here by this group.
"What do you want?" Yu Xing searched her memories but found no information about these people. In other words, the original host didn't know them at all.
"Do we know each other?" Yu Xing still felt a bit weak.
For some reason, this question seemed to strike a funny bone with them; they suddenly burst into collective snickers, their laughter growing louder and more unrestrained.
Amidst the laughter, a person stepped forward. It was a tall, slender young man with flaxen hair. His jacket hung open, revealing a wide collar that exposed delicate collarbones adorned with a row of sparkling piercings.
Wow! He’s so cool!
Yu Xing’s heart began to race, a feeling akin to love at first sight.
The young man slowly walked over to Yu Xing, then crouched down and gripped her chin.
"Level 1 Broomstick Star: 5/250."
Only then did Yu Xing get a clear look at the young man’s face—it was incredibly handsome. Of course, ever since transmigrating to Seventh Middle School, Yu Xing hadn't seen an unattractive person. She wanted to warn the young man not to touch her, that it would bring bad luck, but he didn't give her the chance.
"Yu Xing." The young man’s thin lips uttered her name. "Do you know why I brought you here?"
Yu Xing swallowed and shook her head. "No."
"You did something you shouldn’t have. You hurt someone you shouldn’t have." The young man’s light-colored pupils gleamed with coldness and cruelty. "I’m going to tie you up, strip off your clothes, and whip you mercilessly."
Yu Xing’s breath hitched. Was he...?
"Not just that." The young man’s lips curled into a cruel smile. "I’ll record the whole thing and let everyone enjoy the show."
