Chapter 51 Guan Junshan, You’re Crazy!
by 叹息桥今夜雨Chapter 51 Guan Junshan, You're Crazy!
Guan Junshan's face darkened as he strode over, the hem of his long coat fluttering around his calves. Under the watchful eyes of everyone around, he blocked Lin Haoda, who was trying to escape.
Lin Haoda averted his gaze, quickly wiped the corner of his eyes with the back of his hand, and braced himself against the wall with the other hand as he slowly turned toward another exit.
"Lin Haoda!" Guan Junshan furrowed his brows and lowered his voice, calling his name. "What's your deal? Not replying to messages, not answering calls?"
Lin Haoda turned his back to him, his fingers pausing on the white wall as he groped for a moment. After a long silence, he suddenly turned around and addressed him, "President Guan."
He kept his head down, biting his lower lip until it turned white, and said in a hard tone, "Please step aside."
"Haven't you had enough?" Guan Junshan's brow furrowed deeper, as if suppressing anger. He stepped forward and grabbed Lin Haoda's arm. "My patience has limits."
So harsh. Like a warning, or a threat.
Lin Haoda's icy fingers were trapped in his grip, like a piece of ice surrounded by flames. The pain surged back, the IV spot stung like it was on fire, unbearable and almost too much to endure.
His mind was foggy, and the photo from Moments just now suddenly resurfaced. A high-end restaurant, flowers and perfume, a romantic starry night view, and Jiang Tianyi's arm looped through his.
Lin Haoda instinctively held his breath, and whether it was psychological or not, he could almost smell the sickly sweet perfume drifting in the air.
To be fair, whom Guan Junshan went to meet or spent a candlelit dinner with was not within Lin Haoda's scope of interference. They had made the rules clear from the start. Guan Junshan's only requirement for him was to be "good," not to make a scene or cause trouble. They could kiss in secret at the empty aquarium, only hold hands under the faint moonlight. Whether Lin Haoda liked it or not, wanted it or not, that was just how it was.
But Lin Haoda didn't want to continue like this anymore. Even though they hadn't been together long, even though Guan Junshan hadn't really done anything too excessive, many things came down to a single moment. Possessiveness and willingness are a seesaw. Unless Lin Haoda could honestly tell Guan Junshan that he didn't really like it that much either.
But he couldn't be honest, and he wasn't as innocent as he appeared on the surface. Guan Junshan's fingers and lips sometimes hurt him badly, but that was both pain and pleasure.
Lin Haoda shouldn't have been enjoying himself in such a secret relationship. It was wrong to indulge in this stolen happiness. He should have felt ashamed, but instead, from that guilt, his heartbeat slowly quickened.
"This is fine," Lin Haoda said after a few seconds of silence, lifting his head to glance at Guan Junshan. His voice was very soft. "Thank you for your concern, but President Guan, you don't need to waste any more of your patience on me in the future."
Guan Junshan paused, his brow relaxing and then furrowing again. His eyes never left Lin Haoda's face. "What does that mean?"
Lin Haoda tried to pull his arm back but found Guan Junshan's grip was too strong, and it was futile.
After pushing for a while with no movement, Lin Haoda showed some impatience. He turned his face slightly to avoid the two piercing gazes. "Why can't we just go back to how it was?"
Guan Junshan's broad shoulders and imposing presence. He stood there like a wall, difficult to surmount, impossible to shake. He just stood there, looked at him for a moment, and said, "No going back."
His tone was flat, leaving no room for negotiation.
Lin Haoda sighed a little, appearing helpless. "President Guan, don't be like this."
As he struggled to free his arm, he used his other hand to push against Guan Junshan's chest, trying to persuade him, "We haven't even done anything."
Then he added, "Not every relationship has to go the distance."
In his attempt to convince Guan Junshan to let go, Lin Haoda said anything that came to mind. "We haven't slept together. We're not even official."
He deliberately avoided mentioning Jiang Tianyi, even though he usually couldn't stop talking about Miss Jiang this and that. Now that he was seriously talking about breaking up, he avoided the real issue and said other things to provoke Guan Junshan: "I can't do platonic. I was born liking guys. I have needs. I want to be with a guy. And you? Could you handle being with a guy?"
He thought Guan Junshan's interest and liking were only superficial and that he didn't intend to take things further.
Guan Junshan was visibly taken aback. He loosened his grip just enough for Lin Haoda to pull free. But because of the sudden movement, he stumbled back two steps to catch his balance, scattering the lab results and fever meds on the floor.
Luckily, most people were already gone from the infusion hall. A fluorescent light in the corner was busted, flickering on and off above their heads.
"..."
Lin Haoda stared at a spot on the floor for a second, then slowly crouched down, leaning on the wall, and began picking up the items on the ground.
Just then, his phone rang.
Lin Haoda pulled out his phone and glanced at it. It was an unknown number. He initially declined it, but the same number kept calling persistently.
He finally answered, accidentally hitting the speakerphone button. A gentle female voice came through the receiver, addressing him affectionately as "Brother Haoda" and asking, "Are you still at the hospital? What did the doctor say? Has your fever gone down?"
Lin Haoda realized it was the young front desk clerk who had accompanied him to the hospital.
He immediately softened his tone, telling her he was much better, that the tests were almost done, and that he would take a taxi back soon.
"Can you manage on your own?" She sounded worried. "Otherwise, I could come pick you up. The manager is here, so she can cover for me for a while."
"I..." Lin Haoda was about to say no when Guan Junshan moved. He stepped forward and snatched the phone out of Lin Haoda's hand.
The next second, in front of Lin Haoda, Guan Junshan hung up the call and then forcefully shut it off.
Lin Haoda was stunned for a moment, then slowly frowned. In a harsh tone, he called out, "President Guan," and asked, "What the hell are you doing?"
Guan Junshan looked down at him, glanced at him, and said nothing.
Lin Haoda slowly stood up, his expression also turning cold. "Give me back my phone."
As he spoke, he reached out his hand, palm up, toward Guan Junshan. "You heard it too. I need to take a taxi back."
Guan Junshan's Adam's apple bobbed as he stood there. After a moment, he suddenly spoke, "Lin Haoda, is this the type you like?"
"What?" Lin Haoda complained instinctively.
But when he lifted his eyelids and saw Guan Junshan's face, his dark eyes, and his tight lips in the shadows, he understood immediately. His attitude became very cooperative and ambiguous. "Yeah, that kind works too."
Guan Junshan paused for a few seconds and asked, "She pretty?"
Lin Haoda gave a half-hearted "mm" as he took his phone back from Guan Junshan's hand and turned it back on. After thinking for a moment, he added, "I guess. Gentle, obedient."
Finally, he said, "Basically, we're the same type, so it's easier."
In the dim light, Guan Junshan smirked.
"Liar." he said. "You just said you only liked men, that you could only be with men."
Lin Haoda hadn't intended to make up these lies, and this phone call was purely an unexpected complication. Of course, none of what he said was true, so he only felt a slight twinge of guilt: "So what? It's all the same no matter who."
"Lin Haoda." Guan Junshan's fingers tightened at his side. "Enough, Lin Haoda."
He was also warning him not to speak recklessly, to say things that couldn't be taken back.
But Lin Haoda had made up his mind to separate. Since they would have nothing to do with each other from now on, why not be a little more ruthless?
"President Guan." He looked up, his eyes meeting Guan Junshan's as he slowly exhaled. "What about you? Aren't you the same?"
With that, he turned to leave.
Guan Junshan grabbed him by the wrist.
Lin Haoda didn't have time to react. He was pulled back and wrapped up in Guan Junshan's coat. With Guan Junshan's height and strength, catching him was like catching a disobedient kitten. He stuffed him inside until only
Guan Junshan knew exactly where he was going, pushing him to a fire door, turning sideways to shoulder it open a crack, and the two of them jostled their way in until they reached a corner.
The motion-activated lights in the hospital hallway blinked on with their footsteps and quickly went dark again.
Lin Haoda, already weakened by his fever and IV, was now trapped in a corner, his body aching and burning up, leaving him only gasping for breath.
Before he could even check if there was a camera watching them from above, Guan Junshan's lips pressed down, his breath urgent and scalding like boiling water.
Lin Haoda called for him to stop intermittently, but to no avail. In desperation, he bit the tip of Guan Junshan's tongue. Even tasting the metallic flavor of blood, Guan Junshan didn't let go; instead, he pinned Lin Haoda against the grimy wall and tightened his grip around Lin Haoda's arms.
"Guan, mmph… mmph! Guan, Guan Junshan!" Lin Haoda steeled himself, bit him again, and finally managed to push him back a little. "You're crazy!"
Guan Junshan's lips parted slightly from his, the tip of his nose pressing against Lin Haoda's nasal bridge, his breathing was completely ragged, his eyes staring at him darkly, his face hidden in the shadows. All Lin Haoda could hear was his hoarse, low voice: "Perhaps."
The motion-activated light flickered back on at the slight noise.
In that instant, Lin Haoda saw Guan Junshan's face pressed extremely close, black flames burning in his eyes, burning quietly, endless, enough to burn everything to ash.
