Chapter 32 Do You Think I Can’t Handle It?

In the morning, Jian Li was awakened by his phone ringing.

He swiped to answer the call with his eyes still closed, "Who is it?"

"You better have a good reason for this, or I’ll kill you!"

The teachers in the staff room were startled by the speakerphone’s voice and turned to ask, "Jian Yue... does your brother usually sound this aggressive?"

Jian Yue’s expression mirrored that of the head teacher’s, and after a moment, he replied, "Teacher, my brother has always been quite gentle."

    Mocking the teacher?

    Teacher!

Still half-asleep, Jian Li suddenly jolted awake and jumped out of bed, "Hello, Teacher. This is Jian Yue’s older brother. What can I help you with?"

That’s how a parent should act.

The head teacher cleared her throat, "Hello, I am Jian Yue’s head teacher. I’m calling because your brother got into a fight at school. Also, his midterm grades aren’t very good, so he needs some encouragement."

"Can you come to the school? We can discuss this in person."

    "..."

Jian Li recalled the situation and realized that what the head teacher said didn’t quite match the plot.

Shouldn’t Jian Yue’s younger brother be bullied at school due to his gambling-addicted father?

Shouldn’t he be the type who doesn’t fight back or even respond to insults? How could he get into a fight and involve his parents?

There must be something fishy going on here.

"Right now?" Jian Li asked after thinking for a moment.

The head teacher’s tone became more stern, "Preferably now."

    "Alright."

Jian Li hung up the call, put on his clothes, and headed out.

Then he thought again and came back inside.

With his recent rise in popularity, stepping out onto the street would surely result in being mobbed for autographs.

    Better to disguise himself.

    Ugh, such a hassle!

Jian Li put on a baseball cap and sunglasses, took the elevator down to the underground parking lot, and found his car. He pressed the key fob.

    “Beep beep—”

After two beeps, he got in.

Thirty minutes later, he arrived at the city high school.

Entering the staff room, he saw a skinny boy standing in the corner, head bowed, almost buried in his chest, trembling like a quail.

Jian Li squinted his eyes and glanced over, then quickly looked away.

"Are you Jian Yue’s older brother?" The middle-aged woman with a plump figure waved at Jian Li. "I am his head teacher; my surname is Cao."

"Cao Teacher, hello." Jian Li no longer had the respect and politeness from when he answered the call, instead speaking casually, "What exactly happened? Tell me about it."

Cao Qinghua suddenly exclaimed with distress, "This child is beyond my control. No matter what I say, he won’t listen. He insists on bullying classmates and now he’s injured someone. The parents want compensation. What do you think we should do?"

"Teacher, please don’t worry. Let me ask him," Jian Li walked over to Jian Yue and suddenly lifted his chin, revealing the shocking scratch marks on his face.

    "Ouch—"

"You fought others and got hurt yourself?"

"How many did you take on?"

Behind them, Cao Qinghua’s gaze darted around, and she stood up abruptly, "Never mind how many. With your brother’s reckless behavior, I’m scared just watching him. If we don’t handle this now, he might end up killing someone!"

Jian Yue dodged Jian Li’s hand and lowered his head again.

His entire demeanor exuded a sense of resignation and self-loathing.

Seeing this, Jian Li turned and smiled, "Teacher, since my brother has injuries on his face, doesn’t that mean the other side also fought back?"

"In this case, even the police would classify it as mutual combat. Why are you only scolding my brother?"

    Cao Qinghua was momentarily speechless.

She had assumed that the parents of a student as timid as Jian Yue wouldn’t be much better,

but Jian Li’s sharp tongue caught her off guard.

Moreover, he was a celebrity. If this incident went public...

Thinking of this, Cao Qinghua’s attitude softened, "This isn’t entirely your brother’s fault, but the other parents have complained to the education bureau, making it difficult to resolve."

As soon as she finished speaking, a group of people stormed into the classroom.

"Teacher, today you must give us an explanation! A troublemaker like Jian Yue, a parasite of society, must be expelled!"

"If you don't fire him, I'll take this to the provincial education department and get all of you reprimanded!"

    "Right! We will too!"

    "..."

Hearing the commotion, Jian Li turned around and, upon seeing the situation, curled his lips into a smirk. "Oh, quite an impressive show."

The leading woman glanced at him. "Who are you? What's your relationship with Jian Yue?!"

"I'm his brother." Jian Li replied calmly, removing his cap and sunglasses.

Someone recognized him. "Isn't that the celebrity who participated in The Lone Hero?!"

"No wonder Jian Yue is so arrogant; he has a famous brother backing him up!"

"So what if he's a celebrity? Does that give him the right to let campus violence run rampant?!"

"Exactly. If this isn't resolved, we'll expose him and let public opinion judge him!"

    "..."

Voices rose and fell, endless and chaotic.

Jian Li grew annoyed and suddenly delivered a spinning kick, shattering a teacup on the desk.

The scene fell abruptly silent as everyone stared, dumbfounded, at the shattered glass on the floor.

"Teacher, I'll transfer the money to you shortly," Jian Li said casually, glancing at the shocked Jian Yue behind him before turning to the agitated parents. "May I ask, where are your children? Who got hurt? Let me see?"

"They're still in class," Cao Qinghua said, seeing the situation spiraling out of control.

Jian Li nodded. "Let me ask another question: how many people did my brother hit?"

"F-f-five," Cao Qinghua's voice grew softer.

Jian Li continued, "So, my brother fought five people? And none of them are injured, sitting in class as if nothing happened, while the only one who got hurt is standing here being lectured?"

"He couldn't win because he started it!" the woman whispered.

As others were about to agree, Jian Li asked again, "My brother started it? Do you have any evidence?"

    Of course not!

They had just received a call and rushed to the school without even knowing the full details.

"Doesn't the school have surveillance cameras?" Jian Li turned around, his sharp gaze piercing like a knife. "Don't tell me they're broken."

"N-no," Cao Qinghua hurried forward, lowering her voice. "Brother Jian Yue, just apologize. These people are not to be trifled with. Just admit the mistake and it'll be over."

Jian Li slowly curled his lips into a smile, speaking each word clearly and distinctly. "Do you think I can't handle them?"

Cao Qinghua froze, then listened as he continued,

"Apologize? No problem!" Jian Li's smile grew increasingly menacing. "But after apologizing, I'll go to the classroom and console the victims of bullying, memorize their faces, and wait by the school gate."

"I'll follow them wherever they go, in places without cameras..."

    He bared his teeth,

"And make them look like the victims of campus bullying should."

Everyone present drew a sharp breath,

Was he acting like a madman?!
