Chapter 14: Awkward! Father and Son Don’t Recognize Each Other
byChapter 14: Awkward! Father and Son Don't Recognize Each Other
But today, Shen Zhiyue gave Jiang Huizhou no reason to refuse.
Shen Zhiyue was actually so tired that he could barely stay awake. If Jiang Huizhou hadn't suddenly called, Shen Zhiyue would have already fallen asleep hugging his son.
While Jiang Huizhou was still hesitating about whether to undress and go to sleep, Shen Zhiyue had already moved Jiang Xingliu to the middle of the bed and lay down on the other side.
"..." It was the first time Young Master Jiang had experienced the feeling of being overly presumptuous about someone's affections.
Jiang Xingliu was also roused from his sleep by the commotion.
Perhaps due to past experiences of being woken up while asleep, the child's sleep was very light, and he would open his eyes in panic with the slightest movement.
When Jiang Xingliu saw Shen Zhiyue lying next to him, he instinctively retreated, only to bump into Jiang Huizhou's slightly cool body. He turned his head sharply and looked at Jiang Huizhou in confusion.
Honestly, this was the first time he had seen Jiang Huizhou since being adopted.
The child didn't recognize him as his adoptive father and simply assumed he was one of Shen Zhiyue's new lovers. He immediately frowned and threw off the covers, intending to get out of bed.
"Where are you going?" Still half-asleep, Shen Zhiyue wrapped his arms around the child's waist and pulled him back. "Cover yourself properly."
The child said, "I don't want to sleep with him."
Shen Zhiyue blinked. "Ah? Why?"
Jiang Xingliu glared at Jiang Huizhou and said, "Disgusting."
Jiang Huizhou narrowed his eyes and sneered. "Say that again?"
"I think you're disgusting," Jiang Xingliu said coldly. "I don't want to sleep with you."
Jiang Huizhou: "Heh."
Shen Zhiyue: "Uh..."
In the original plot, the major antagonist initially ignored the little antagonist. Upon discovering that the little one was smart, ambitious, and ruthless, he chose to cooperate with him.
The description in the original book was that the little antagonist felt an instant familiarity with Jiang Huizhou. It wasn't because of their blood relationship, but because the moment the child saw this man, he knew.
They were the same kind of people.
Logically, the little antagonist shouldn't be so repelled by Jiang Huizhou, should he?
Jiang Huizhou sneered, sat on the bed, and grabbed the child by the back of his neck with one hand. "You think I'm disgusting?"
Jiang Xingliu, his face turning red from being held by the nape, still glared at Jiang Huizhou with a fierce wolf-cub expression.
Jiang Huizhou looked him over and tossed the child to the floor. "Then get out."
Luckily, there was a thick carpet on the floor; otherwise, with Jiang Huizhou's strength, the child would have been hurt. Even so, Jiang Xingliu was still badly shaken. He bit his lip, his eyes slightly red, and gave Shen Zhiyue a disappointed look before turning away resolutely and walking out.
The bedroom had the heater on, but the living room did not. Walking out like that would surely lead to a cold.
Shen Zhiyue quickly picked the child up and whispered, "Xingliu, you can't talk about Dad like that!"
Jiang Xingliu looked at Shen Zhiyue in shock. "He’s not my father!"
Shen Zhiyue said, "Yes, he is. Jiang Huizhou, say something!"
Jiang Huizhou lounged lazily against the headboard, saying coolly, "I don't have a son that dumb."
Jiang Xingliu paused for a moment, then suddenly asked in a soft voice, "...Why does he have the Jiang surname too?"
Shen Zhiyue chuckled, half amused and half exasperated. "Guess why he has the Jiang surname too?"
The kid fell silent, his ears slowly reddening as he clutched the clothes on Shen Zhiyue's shoulder without saying a word.
Shen Zhiyue ruffled his hair and asked, "Did you say something mean to Dad just now?"
The child pursed his lips, hiding in Shen Zhiyue's arms, avoiding Jiang Huizhou's gaze.
"Should we say sorry to Dad?" Shen Zhiyue gently bounced Jiang Xingliu's bottom and asked, "Hmm?"
Jiang Xingliu grumbled softly, "Sorry, Dad."
Jiang Huizhou raised an eyebrow.
Sure, they're putting on a show of being the perfect family.
He shrugged nonchalantly, "No big deal."
Shen Zhiyue then settled the kid back onto the bed, but the kid refused point-blank to sleep anywhere near Jiang Huizhou.
Compared to this "father" whom he had never met, Shen Zhiyue, who had been living with him, obviously gave him more security, even though Shen Zhiyue had only started being nice to him today.
So Shen Zhiyue ended up sandwiched between them.
Jiang Huizhou edged away slightly, clearly trying to avoid touching Shen Zhiyue.
