Chapter 171 This Time It’s Really Over
by 梅川裤子Chapter 171 This Time It’s Really Over
After walking only a few steps into the night, she was met with a neutron shell that blew her protective shield to smithereens.
Chen Yin scrambled to her feet, her face a picture of pure frustration.
Originally, as the mission progressed, her resources would have increased, but due to Shen Zhixue’s interference early on, she’d barely made a dent in her tasks. She’d thought the current points would be enough to finish the remaining tasks, but now, just as things were starting, her points were already on the brink of depletion.
She quickly exchanged for another protective shield in the system store, glancing at the remaining points. It felt like her heart was being ripped out, especially since Jiang Xingliu had just swindled her out of the points for a Resurrection Pill!
The Resurrection Pill was incredibly powerful, almost capable of reviving the dead and regenerating flesh and bone, so it required a lot of points. However, after a refund, not all points were returned—only thirty percent of the original price.
Jiang Huizhou, sitting leisurely in the mech vehicle, rested his chin on his hand: “You’re full of tricks, aren’t you?”
Chen Yin’s eyes scanned the surroundings twice. The hospital’s perimeter was surrounded by a forest, with three sides blocked by giant mechs, and the remaining side was the hospital itself.
There was no escape—she was trapped.
Jiang Huizhou looked at Chen Yin, raised his hand, and waved it lazily: “Neutron shell ready—”
If he kept this up, she’d run out of points and die here sooner or later!
Chen Yin’s mind raced. Standing inside the protective shield, she shouted, “Jiang Huizhou, let’s cut a deal. I have something you want.”
Jiang Huizhou chuckled: “Oh? Spill it.”
Chen Yin breathed a sigh of relief. This meant Jiang Huizhou was still interested in her offer, at least he wouldn’t bomb her before she could speak...
Then another neutron shell flew at her, shattering her protective shield into pieces!
Chen Yin quickly bought another protective shield and put it on, furious: “Jiang Huizhou!”
“Oh, my apologies, the kid was just playing around.” Jiang Huizhou raised his hand, pressing his fingers down slightly, a gesture to continue bombing, then said cheerfully, “What deal did you want to make? Please, go ahead.”
Chen Yin couldn’t even speak. Her protective shield was being bombarded left and right, shattered into pieces, leaving energy debris scattered all over the ground.
“You’re too slow.” Jiang Huizhou jumped down from the mech, holding an ordinary cutting gun.
Chen Yin took two steps back. Fear flashed across her face for the first time.
The madness and killing intent in Jiang Huizhou’s eyes were now filled with coldness, making anyone who looked at him feel as if they’d fallen into an icy abyss, frozen and trembling.
She frantically clicked to exchange for an energy protective shield, only to receive a message from the system: “Sorry, insufficient points, unable to exchange.”
“What’s wrong? Run out of your fancy tricks, huh?” Jiang Huizhou smirked: “Since we were going to lure you out, how could we not be fully prepared? Didn’t think the NPCs would turn the tables on you, did you?”
“Don’t kill me!” Chen Yin’s teeth were chattering: “You can’t kill me—I’m valuable! I know a lot of things, everything about this world, I can tell you! With this information, you can achieve your goals, become the ruler of the world, and make sure every omega in the empire gets a fair shake!”
“You, a cheater, preaching about fairness?” Jiang Huizhou stepped forward, stomping on Chen Yin’s face.
She was already too scared to stand, crumpled on the ground, a pitiful mess.
“Didn’t I promise to cut out your tongue and make you choke on those words?”
Chen Yin couldn’t even cry. Jiang Huizhou glanced up, looking at the surrounding mechs, and said, “Friends, go keep watch. Make sure my wife doesn’t show up until I’m finished.”
He turned his head, the murderous glint in his eyes unmistakable.
“…He’d be terrified.”
Shen Zhixue and Jiang Xingliu ran down the stairs and were about to head to the woods behind the hospital when they were stopped by a few bodyguards.
"What's going on?" Shen Zhixue frowned. "Did Chen Yin escape?"
"No, she's been caught," the bodyguard replied honestly. "Mr. Jiang is... well, handling it. He specifically told us not to let you go over. Seeing blood is bad luck."
"Who cares about luck at a time like this?" Shen Zhixue clicked his tongue. "I'll go in and take a look. If she's really caught, I'll come out."
As soon as he finished speaking, a few sharp, agonizing screams came from behind the bodyguards.
The sound was inhuman—horrifying and pitiful. Shen Zhixue felt a shiver run down his spine and instinctively took a couple of steps back.
Jiang Xingliu and Wan Chenghan naturally heard the scream as well.
Wan Chenghan’s face instantly turned pale. "What the hell’s happening? Why’s it so scary?"
Jiang Xingliu said, "I’ll check it out."
The bodyguard thought for a moment. Jiang Huizhou had only instructed them not to let Shen Zhixue go over, but he hadn’t said anything about the young master. So, they quickly stepped aside and let Jiang Xingliu pass.
Not long after, Jiang Huizhou walked out. He looked relaxed, almost groggy, like he’d just woken up. There wasn’t a single drop of blood on him.
Shen Zhixue walked up, wanting to check if Jiang Huizhou was injured, but Jiang Huizhou stopped him. "Don’t. I smell of blood. I don’t want to gross you out. Let me take a shower first, then I’ll hug you."
Shen Zhixue glared at him. "Chen Yin...?"
Jiang Huizhou stretched lazily. "You don’t trust me? Don’t worry, she won’t appear again."
Shen Zhixue nodded, unable to suppress his curiosity. "What were you doing in there just now?"
Jiang Huizhou hummed. "Quick and clean, no pain."
Wan Chenghan spoke up. "Does a quick death take that long?"
"I was digging a hole to bury her," Jiang Huizhou explained matter-of-factly. "We can’t just leave her there to turn into a mummy. It’d scare the passersby."
Wan Chenghan believed him and nodded, sighing. "She had it coming. If she hadn’t died, we’d all be dead."
When Jiang Xingliu reached the woods, all he saw were energy remnants scattered across the ground and some charred, withered trees. Since protective measures had been taken earlier, there was basically no harm to the innocent. Even the trees that caught fire were quickly extinguished.
In the middle of the scorched ruins lay a person.
Chen Yin lay motionless, her eyes staring wide. Her tongue was yanked out, stretched grotesquely, with a line of charred words faintly readable: "Idiot."
Jiang Xingliu paused. That must’ve been where the scream came from.
Jiang Huizhou used a micro-gun to write on her tongue, then ripped it out and shoved it back in.
"..." Jiang Xingliu felt little sympathy for Chen Yin, but it was too bad he didn’t get that pill.
He sighed, grabbed the shovel, dug a hole, buried her, and left.
When they got home, Shen Zhixue gradually came back to his senses. Jiang Huizhou came out of the shower, steam rising off him, and stood behind him, wrapping his arms around him.
"Smell."
Shen Zhixue blinked and sniffed instinctively. "What? Smell what?"
"Do I smell good, hubby?" Jiang Huizhou picked him up and sat him down on the rocking chair on the balcony. "I used your favorite shower gel today. Well? Does it make you want a bite?"
Shen Zhixue leaned on Jiang Huizhou and smiled helplessly, "Can't you act normal for once?"
Jiang Huizhou tilted his head, "Don’t you feel like devouring me?"
Shen Zhixue was speechless, "Not really, no."
"Too bad," Jiang Huizhou sniffed himself, "Guess I’ll have to try a new body wash scent next time."
Shen Zhixue lay in Jiang Huizhou's arms, the warm evening breeze brushed his face. Jiang Huizhou, having just showered, felt cool and damp, which was soothing.
"This rocking chair’s pretty comfy."
Jiang Huizhou said, "Other activities would feel even better."
"..."
"You smell amazing."
Jiang Huizhou held his waist, fingers threading through his hair, gently massaging his scalp, as gentle as the evening breeze.
He closed his eyes and murmured, "Mhm."
The rocking chair swayed slowly, and Shen Zhixue turned to lie side by side with Jiang Huizhou, staring up at the sky. In the Stellar Era, stars were a thing of the past, but Shen Zhixue still found the night sky beautiful.
Jiang Huizhou lay quietly, rocking gently beside Shen Zhixue.
"I haven't showered yet. You’re okay with that, right?"
"Even if you rolled in a manure pit and plopped down here, I’d kiss you without a second thought."
"...You’re nuts."
"Not really. I was, but I’m getting better."
"We’re like an old married pair. Ten, twenty years from now, can we still lie here, side by side, rocking away?"
"If you like, I’ll have Jiang Xingliu turn our coffins into rocking chairs when the time comes."
"That works. I want a starry sky on the coffin lid for the vibe."
"Sure, anything you say."
"What if grave robbers sneak into our starry chamber?"
"Then we’ll rock a few times and freak them out."
"Haha, you’re wild."
"Can’t help it. You love crazy people, so I’ve only stuck to two things in life."
"Yeah?"
"Loving you and staying crazy."
"...You’re insane."
