Chapter 92: Zhi Zhi, So Good

Shen Zhixue heard Jiang Huizhou's voice and struggled hard to open his eyes, his eyelashes fluttering violently as his eyelids twitched.

Jiang Huizhou sat by the bed, leaning in gently under the moonlight, and pressed a soft kiss to his eyelids.

Shen Zhixue slowly opened his eyes, and the moment he saw Jiang Huizhou, he reached out his fingers in disbelief, only to hurriedly withdraw them just before touching him.

He sat up halfway, choking on his words, and said, "You..."

Jiang Huizhou waited patiently for Shen Zhixue to finish his sentence.

He expected Shen Zhixue to ask how he had come back to life, or why he had deceived him. Jiang Huizhou had already prepared suitable responses for these questions. At least for tonight, he could get by with excuses. By the time Shen Zhixue realized the truth, he would likely no longer be here.

But Shen Zhixue gazed at him in stunned silence for a long time, then whispered tearfully, "Are you in a lot of pain?"

Jiang Huizhou's pupils contracted slightly, momentarily at a loss for how to respond.

This was a question he had never expected.

Shen Zhixue placed his palm over Jiang Huizhou's heart, murmuring, "It must hurt so much. Jiang Huizhou, I'm sorry. I was so bad, so impulsive. I'm sorry."

Jiang Huizhou raised his hand, gripping Shen Zhixue's wrist. After a moment, he sighed helplessly, "You really have me wrapped around your finger."

Shen Zhixue blinked, and Jiang Huizhou's lips covered his.

He closed his eyes, submissively parting his lips, allowing Jiang Huizhou to take what he wanted. Tears continued to stream from the corners of his eyes. Jiang Huizhou kissed his tear-streaked cheeks and whispered, "Don't cry."

Shen Zhixue nodded hurriedly, lowering his head to wipe his tears, only to find that they wouldn't stop. Jiang Huizhou clicked his tongue, pinched his chin, and lifted him up entirely. "If you're going to cry so much, let's put those tears to good use."

Shen Zhixue's face flushed instantly. His legs wrapped around Jiang Huizhou's waist, his small bottom cradled by Jiang Huizhou's hand, making him acutely aware of...

He was so embarrassed that his ears turned red. Normally, he would have put up a fierce struggle by now, but this time, he didn't utter a single word of protest. Instead, like a gentle little rabbit, he clung to Jiang Huizhou's neck, his soft breaths like gentle caresses stirring Jiang Huizhou's desires.

Jiang Huizhou had always been someone who couldn't resist much teasing.

He placed Shen Zhixue on the bathroom counter. The cold marble pressed against Shen Zhixue's bare buttocks, eliciting a soft hiss from him. "It's so cold."

Jiang Huizhou used his palm to warm the marble slightly before placing Shen Zhixue back on it.

    Shen Zhixue frowned. "Mmm."

"My good Zhi Zhi," Jiang Huizhou murmured, kissing his jaw. "Raise your legs."

"No... mmm." Shen Zhixue was drenched in sweat, his legs trembling slightly. "This... it's too much."

Jiang Huizhou draped Shen Zhixue's legs over his shoulders, compelling Shen Zhixue to open up. Shen Zhixue had no choice but to support himself with his arms against the counter behind him. "Jiang Huizhou, I'm cold."

Shen Zhixue let out a short cry, his body shaking uncontrollably. Jiang Huizhou drew him into his embrace. "Still cold now?"

Shen Zhixue lay against his chest, breathing lightly. "No... not cold... mmm."

Tonight, he was unusually obedient. No matter how Jiang Huizhou treated him, even if he made him cry until he was gasping for breath, Shen Zhixue never pushed him away.

"If it were any other time, you'd already be thinking of how to escape, right?" Jiang Huizhou gripped his hips with one hand, while the other lifted his chin, turning his face toward him. He kissed away the tears on Shen Zhixue's face. "You're crying so much, and you still don't want me to stop? Hmm?"

Shen Zhixue reached out, grabbing Jiang Huizhou's wrist, and whimpered, "Don't..."

Jiang Huizhou leaned in closer, listening to his trembling voice, which carried a hint of pleading. "Don't go."

Shen Zhixue murmured softly, "I won't hide... I'll be good, don't go, Jiang Huizhou, don't go..."

Jiang Huizhou's gaze deepened, "Hmm, I won't go."

Shen Zhixue clung to Jiang Huizhou, tears streaming down his face, as if afraid he would vanish the next moment.

But it was only a dream. Shen Zhixue felt desperate and unwilling inside.

    It was only a dream.

He had witnessed Jiang Huizhou's last breath with his own eyes, seen the craft knife pierce through his chest.

There was no chance of coming back.

But Jiang Huizhou's destiny was meant to be so much more. It was his own stubbornness and recklessness, trying to alter the character's predetermined path, that caused Jiang Huizhou's death.

He was the one who had failed Jiang Huizhou.

Somewhere along the way, Jiang Huizhou had become more than just a character in a book to him; he was the person before his eyes, the person in his heart.

Sadly, he came to this realization too late.

Seeing Shen Zhixue on the verge of fainting from crying so hard, Jiang Huizhou could only carry him to the bathroom to wash him clean, softly coaxing, "Stop crying, okay? You're going to flood the bathroom with your tears."

"Jiang Huizhou, I'm sorry, it's my fault, Jiang Huizhou, I'm sorry..." Shen Zhixue wasn't paying attention, his tears fell like a broken strand of pearls, unstoppable.

The Jiang family had worn him out over the past few days, feeling utterly miserable, yet he had to hold back his tears in front of the Jiang family and outsiders.

Now, in his dream of Jiang Huizhou, the tears wouldn't stop.

Jiang Huizhou let out a soft sigh, murmuring to himself, "Are you really that upset... If you ever find out I deceived you, I might not be able to win you back..."

Shen Zhixue cried with such intensity, completely unaware of the faint sigh.

Uncharacteristically, Jiang Huizhou only took him once on the bathroom counter. After cleaning Shen Zhixue, he carried him back to the room.

Shen Zhixue's eyes were puffy from crying. Jiang Huizhou gently licked his swollen eyelids, "They're so swollen, remember to ice them tomorrow."

Shen Zhixue, his voice trembling with tears, almost pleaded, "You do it for me."

Jiang Huizhou remained silent, simply giving Shen Zhixue's back a gentle pat, "Go to sleep."

After sobbing hysterically and being worn out by Jiang Huizhou for over an hour, Shen Zhixue felt an overwhelming sense of peace in his arms and soon fell asleep.

Jiang Huizhou waited until the breathing of the person in his arms became steady and long, then carefully slipped out, covered him with the blanket, and turned to leave the villa.

Ji Yuan was waiting outside the villa.

It was already half past two in the morning, and only the dim light inside his car illuminated the area outside the villa.

Jiang Huizhou, wrapped in the cold, sat in the car. Ji Yuan glanced at him and muttered, "Did you see him?"

    Jiang Huizhou softly replied, "Hmm."

"We're leaving soon," Ji Yuan said, "It's better not to disturb Madam, after all, your current identity is that of a dead man. If others find out, your plan will be ruined."

Jiang Huizhou propped his chin, looking at the villa shrouded in night, "I want to take him with me."

Ji Yuan exclaimed in shock, "You want to take Madam with you?"

Jiang Huizhou spoke up, "Is it really not possible?"

"Not to mention if there's even enough time, but even if there were," Ji Yuan thought Jiang Huizhou had gone mad, "Do you really think she’d just forgive you and go with you to the Federation after finding out you used and lied to her like that?"

For the first time, Jiang Huizhou felt irritated and fearful about something.

This feeling of losing control made his hands and feet go cold instinctively. After a moment, he gave a bitter smile and said, "Yeah, seems like it."

Once again, he’d tricked and used him.

But because of this lie, she cried so sorrowfully.

Ji Yuan started the car and said, "Don’t worry, I’ll take care of her. Before you return with your new identity, I won’t let any man get close to her!"

He tightened his grip on the steering wheel!

Mr. Jiang! Just focus on your career—I’ll handle your love life for you!

The car sped off, quickly vanishing into the night.

    ——

By the time Lu Qingyan sent Jiang Xingliu to the Lu family, it was already late at night.

A light drizzle soaked his hair and school uniform, clinging to him in a cold, uncomfortable mess.

The villa was lit up, likely expecting his arrival. Jiang Xingliu walked to the door and pressed the doorbell.

The doorbell had barely rung when the villa’s door swung open, and Du Du leapt from the chair, throwing himself into Jiang Xingliu’s arms.

He was in cozy pajamas, warm all over, smelling faintly of laundry soap and a touch of milk candy.

The warm air from inside the villa hit him as he stepped in.

"Oh, you," Lu Qingwan laughed, "Stop clinging to Jiang Xingliu and let him inside!"

Du Du hugged Jiang Xingliu loudly, "Jiang Xingliu, pick me up and carry me in!"

Jiang Xingliu, caught off guard, struggled to lift Du Du.

Du Du had always been well-fed, weighing at least ten pounds more than Jiang Xingliu, his body soft and pudgy. If Jiang Xingliu hadn’t trained for a few months at the military academy, he might not have been able to carry Du Du smoothly into the villa.

"Do you even realize how heavy you are?" Lu Qingwan scolded, trying to pull Du Du off Jiang Xingliu. "It’s late—go to bed and stop clinging to him. It’s raining, and his clothes are soaked. Let him shower and change, or he’ll catch a cold."

Seeing Jiang Xingliu drenched, Du Du quickly hopped down. "I’ll grab you some clothes. Take a hot shower, or you’ll get sick."

After saying that, he quickly ran into the room.

Lu Qingwan approached, unsure what to say, and added, "Qingyan said you were coming. Du Du waited at the door forever, scared he’d miss you, and even had the nanny make three cups of coffee."

Jiang Xingliu pursed his lips, silent.

"He wanted to wait outside, but it was raining, so I made him stay inside," Lu Qingwan explained. "He stood on a stool for over two hours, just so he could open the door the second you got here."

Jiang Xingliu nodded, standing in the living room with his head down.

"This whole thing... don’t take it too hard," Lu Qingwan sighed. "It was an accident—no one saw it coming. Your mom... Shen Zhixue is tough. She’ll get through this."
