Chapter 165: Finale Part 1

Chapter 165: Finale Part 1

Wan Chenghan seemed surprised by how Yexue had changed. He frowned and said, "I thought you would have changed over the past ten years."

"Change? What do I need to change?" Yexue's eyes turned cold. "If it weren't for Shen Zhixue, you and I would still be fine. You still care for me, don’t you? Otherwise, you wouldn't have helped Chen Yin because of me. Chenghan, you still love me, don't you?"

Wan Chenghan looked as if he had seen a ghost. "You're overthinking it. After all, you're Wan Chong's mother. I took care of you just so that Wan Chong wouldn't be so sad when he sees you. But now it seems like I went too far."

Shen Zhixue felt a faint sense of unease in his heart. Chen Yin deliberately orchestrated this situation to lure him here, surely not just to let him witness the rift between Wan Chenghan and Yexue.

"Enough with her," Shen Zhixue said. His unease deepened, and he quickly turned to walk out the door. "Let’s head downstairs and find Chen Yin and Jiang Huizhou."

Before he could finish his words, Yexue screamed sharply, "Did I give you permission to leave?! Stay where you are!"

Suddenly, the room door automatically slammed shut and locked, trapping everyone inside.

Wan Chenghan turned his head. "What do you really want?"

"What do I want?" Yexue softly repeated, then suddenly couldn't suppress a light laugh. "I’m not trying to do anything, really. From the beginning, all I wanted was to protect myself, to live the life of my dreams. What's wrong with that? What gives Shen Zhixue the right? Why does he have to ruin my life the moment he appears?!"

"He didn't want to ruin anyone's life," Wan Chenghan stood at the door and looked at her. "Yexue, don't you understand? Couldn’t you see how I treated you back then? Even without Wan Chong, would I have abandoned you? I could handle you deceiving and using me, but you shouldn't have used Wan Chong as a bet and a tool. He's just a child. Go and see how he’s turned out. He shouldn't have turned out like this!"

Yexue's eyes gradually reddened, her nails digging into her flesh. "You were good to me, so what?! I still couldn’t become part of the Wan family! I just wanted everything to settle down! I never imagined that old woman could be so heartless! She didn't even want her own grandson!"

"You're overthinking it. What kind of person is Qiu Ying? Could she be fooled by your little tricks?" Lu Qingyan couldn't help but speak up. "You pull these dirty stunts, and only a fool like Wan Chenghan would fall for them."

Shen Zhixue said coldly, "Did you team up with Chen Yin? Did you meet Chen Zhe in prison?"

Yexue remained silent.

Shen Zhixue had no time or patience to waste with her. "Open the door."

Yexue laughed disdainfully. Shen Zhixue rushed forward in a flash, reaching out to grasp Yexue's neck. "I said, open the door."

He was so frantic that he lost all patience to sit down and talk with Yexue properly. He could only resort to such rough means to intimidate her.

Though he wasn’t sure what was going on, the fact that Chen Yin deliberately separated him from Jiang Huizhou was certainly not a good thing... Even though Jiang Huizhou's personality meant he likely wouldn't suffer much, Shen Zhixue still felt a strong sense of unease.

He needed to see Jiang Huizhou, right now.

Yexue threw her head back and laughed. "Shen Zhixue, you're anxious too? It's really worth it to cooperate with her if it can push you to this point."

Shen Zhixue shouted angrily, "Yexue!"

"Go ahead and strangle me if you dare!" Yexue glared at him, her eyes filled with resentment and jealousy. "Today, all of you will go down with me!"
