Shen Zhixue narrowed his eyes, detecting a faint, sweet pheromone scent.

The crowd in the hospital quickly descended into chaos as several Alphas, induced by the omega's pheromones, entered their rut period and began indiscriminately attacking and destroying things.

Shen Zhixue led Jiang Xingliu and Du Du aside, placing Du Du's hand in Jiang Xingliu's, and said, "I'll go help. Jiang Xingliu, keep Du Du safe."

Jiang Xingliu grabbed Shen Zhixue's sleeve and said, "The pheromone disturbance will affect you too. You can't go."

Shen Zhixue patted Jiang Xingliu's cheek and said, "I'm not your typical omega. Stay here, take care of Du Du, and don't run around."

With that, he turned and ran toward the hospital.

He stopped an omega nurse and asked, "What's going on inside?"

The nurse's clothes were torn, and she trembled as she spoke, "A newly arrived omega with an abnormal pheromone differentiation was brought in. Before we could get them to the designated safe room, their pheromones erupted. Now, who knows how many Alphas in the hospital have been induced into their rut period..."

Shen Zhixue glanced inside the hospital and asked in a deep voice, "Will the high-tech medical pod be affected?"

"N-no," the nurse said as she moved toward the exit. "The high-tech medical pod is completely sealed; pheromones can't get in. The director has already called the local defense unit, and they'll be here soon to handle these Alphas. Let's get out!"

Shen Zhixue patted the nurse's shoulder and asked, "Where is the storage room for inhibitors?"

"It's at the end of the third floor in the inpatient ward," the nurse replied. "What are you planning? You're an omega too. If you go in there, those Alphas will harm you!"

Shen Zhixue walked in while calling out, "You go out first. When the security forces arrive, let them know the location of the storage room. Be careful!"

His last words were lost in the noise of the chaotic crowd.

Shen Zhixue's pheromones were unusually strong for an omega, and no Alpha dared to approach him easily unless their pheromone level was higher than his.

Shen Zhixue made his way to the third floor of the inpatient ward and glanced at the locked door. He kicked the door, trying to break it open.

But the door didn't budge. In desperation, Shen Zhixue kicked it twice more, but the door remained firmly shut.

Shen Zhixue clicked his tongue in annoyance and turned to search the neighboring chief's office, hoping to find the key to the storage room.

On the way, he saw an omega cowering under a desk, trembling in fear. The omega was wearing a blue-striped patient gown, his face pale as he screamed while an Alpha grabbed his legs and dragged him out from under the desk!

Shen Zhixue stepped forward and kicked the Alpha in the shoulder!

The Alpha staggered, letting go of the omega, and glared at Shen Zhixue with red, angry eyes.

"Don't be afraid, get up," Shen Zhixue helped the omega to his feet and emitted some soothing pheromones.

Unfortunately, his soothing pheromones didn't seem to have much effect on the omega, who continued to tremble in fear.

"Do you know how to get out?" Shen Zhixue held the omega's wrist and said in a deep voice, "I'll leave some of my scent on you. The Alphas won't attack you. Can you make it out from here?"

The omega's face was streaked with tears of fear. Shen Zhixue hissed softly and flicked the omega's forehead lightly. "Focus."

The slight pain brought a glimmer of clarity to the omega's eyes. He finally saw the man in front of him clearly and caught the scent on him.

A subtle tea scent, slightly aggressive but not as overpowering as an Alpha's, within his tolerance.

"Can you hear me?" Shen Zhixue asked. "Do you know how to get out?"

The omega nodded quickly. "Y-yes, I know."

"Good kid," Shen Zhixue gently rubbed his scent gland. "Let's move."

"You’re looking for the storage room key, right?" The omega grabbed his hand. "I’ll come with you. I’m after the storage room key too."

"Did you find it?" Shen Zhixue asked.

The omega quickly nodded. "Yeah, it’s there, but I was too scared to go. There are so many rogue Alphas..."

"Give me the key," Shen Zhixue said. "Get out of here, fast."

The omega fumbled and handed the key to Shen Zhixue, choking back a sob. "I’m too scared to go by myself. Can I follow you?"

"My pheromones are running out. They’ll only keep them at bay for a bit. Once they realize I’m an omega, they’ll still attack. It’s too dangerous for you to stick with me. Go out first."

The omega broke down crying. "But I’m terrified—"

"If you don’t go now, when they come charging at you, there really won’t be any chance left." Shen Zhixue grabbed his wrist. "Follow this hallway all the way to the end, and you’ll reach the stairs. You know better than to take the elevator in emergencies. When you get to the second floor, you can jump down. The first floor has more Alphas, but there’s a flower bed below. The fall won’t kill you."

After quickly saying this, he pushed the omega out!

The Alphas' eyes soon focused on him.

He was so scared that his legs trembled, but there was no other choice. Remembering Shen Zhixue's words, he knew if he didn’t leave now, it would really be over!

Shen Zhixue watched him scream and sprint toward the end of the hallway.

No longer worried about the omega, he quickly walked to the storage room door and unlocked it with the key.

The storage room was filled with many suppressant shots, but injecting them individually would take too long. Shen Zhixue decided to compress the inhibitors into a nebulizer bottle. Carrying the heavy steel bottle, he sprayed the inhibitors at the Alphas by the door!

The mist wasn’t as potent as the shots, but it was convenient and quick, much easier than injecting one by one.

Shen Zhixue carried the nebulizer bottle and ran through the hospital, searching for the omega with the out-of-control pheromones. Unfortunately, the hospital was too big, and the inhibitors in the nebulizer bottle were quickly used up. Shen Zhixue, sweating buckets, still couldn’t find the omega.

His pheromones couldn’t last that long and had already stopped working. The Alphas around him were eyeing him with growing frenzy.

Shen Zhixue tightened his grip on the nebulizer bottle.

Looks like he’d have to brawl his way out now.

This pheromone smelled similar to Jiang Huizhou's, but there was a clear difference. Although both had a woody scent, Jiang Huizhou's sandalwood fragrance leaned more toward a cool, serene tone, while the current agarwood scent was thick and rich.

"Zhi Zhi!" Jiang Xingliu, wearing a military uniform, squeezed through the Alphas and ran toward him.

He helped the exhausted Shen Zhixue up, pursing his lips. "The defense troops are here. I’ll take you out."

Shen Zhixue stood up and waved his hand. "I’m fine, no need to help. Didn’t I tell you to protect Du Du? Why did you come in? And your pheromones..."

Wait, isn’t Jiang Xingliu still undifferentiated?

"I don't know, it seems like I just differentiated in a panic," Jiang Xingliu explained. "What threat could an undifferentiated Alpha possibly be? You're the one who actually needs protection."

Shen Zhixue glanced at him sideways. "That's not fair to say. Du Du isn't like you; he's still a child. He'd definitely be freaked out in a situation like this. Didn't you promise you wouldn't leave him behind again?"

Jiang Xingliu frowned. "I..."

"Never mind, let's just find Du Du first," Shen Zhixue said, discarding the steel canister and standing up after catching his breath.

Jiang Xingliu followed him, the potent aroma of agarwood kept the Alphas at bay.

The defense soldiers began to release inhibitory smoke all over the hospital, making it hard to see or find anyone.

However, the omega whose pheromones went haywire was quickly controlled and sent to a safe room, and the chaos slowly died down.

Shen Zhixue and Jiang Xingliu didn't find Du Du among the crowd outside the hospital. They heard that he might have gone inside.

Jiang Xingliu frowned. "He always does this. I told him to wait outside, but he just follows me around. It's really frustrating."

Shen Zhixue said nothing, just turned and went back into the hospital.

Although the riot had stopped, the Alphas in their rut hadn't regained their rationality so quickly. Du Du, an undifferentiated six-year-old child... was in serious danger.
