Chapter 20
byChapter 20
◎ Big Brother Arrives ◎
The Ji family has a personal assistant, which is somewhat similar to a butler, but the butler focuses on internal affairs, mainly handling household chores and managing the staff.
The personal assistant, on the other hand, deals with external matters, from arranging transportation for outings to coordinating major events such as private jet arrangements or banquet preparations. When necessary, they also collaborate with the assistants of the young masters and ladies of the family to meet various external needs.
Being called to school as a parent also falls within the personal assistant's responsibilities, but usually, it's only when the young master needs to take leave that they step in. This is the first time they've been called for a disciplinary matter.
After receiving the call, the assistant was momentarily stunned. Seeing the eldest young master still at home, they thought it best to approach him: "Young Master, the school called and said they need a parent to come in for a meeting."
Ji Yunting was visibly surprised: "A parent? On the first day of school?"
The assistant nodded: "They said the young master was involved in a fight at school and needs a parent to come and handle the situation."
Ji Yunting couldn't help but confirm: "How did the teacher sound on the phone?"
Whether they were angry or scared would help him judge if the other party was injured or worse.
The assistant replied: "They sounded fine, quite polite. Should I go and assess the situation first?"
Ji Yunting put down his teacup: "No need, I'll go. Contact Awei and see if we can reschedule the meeting based on the situation."
The assistant acknowledged and went to call Ji Yunting's work assistant to prepare for a possible meeting postponement.
In the school office, the coach, the physical education teacher, and the homeroom teacher of Class 7 were all there.
Xiao Ye stood there obediently, while the other five, bruised and battered, looked so disheveled that their coach couldn't bear to look at them. Five seniors couldn't even beat one freshman.
The coach was furious: "You couldn't beat him last time, and you still came back for more this time? What, did you think adding two more people would make a difference?!"
Xiao Ye sneered at this, and the physical education teacher couldn't help but lightly kick him with the back of his foot: "You're still laughing! Is winning something to be proud of?!"
When the homeroom teacher of Class 7 entered and saw Ji Nanxing, he was immediately overwhelmed: "Why are you involved as well?"
They are tough; a couple of hits and they'd be fine in a few days, but someone like Ji Nanxing might need an ambulance after just one hit.
Xiao Ye was about to speak up to defend Ji Nanxing, but the homeroom teacher anticipated him and directly said: "I wasn't asking you!"
Ji Nanxing said: "I went to the restroom, and they blocked my path, asking me to help place a love letter in Xiao Ye's desk. I didn't want to help, so they dragged me into the restroom to teach me a lesson, then Xiao Ye arrived, and the fight broke out."
Xiao Ye was shocked: "A love letter?"
He even glanced at Qi Kang in horror, taking a couple of steps back, looking at him as if he were some kind of pervert.
Qi Kang was so angry he could spit blood, seeing all the teachers in the office looking at him with strange expressions, feeling an indescribable sense of frustration.
Ji Nanxing then took out the envelope that had fallen to the ground and been stepped on by someone, which he had picked up on the way to the office.
"This is it, they wanted me to secretly put it in Xiao Ye's drawer."
The homeroom teacher took the envelope, opened it, and saw a computer-printed handwritten letter. The object of affection was a senior girl, whom the homeroom teacher also knew, as she performed excellently at the annual cultural performances and was often called the school belle. The signature at the bottom was Xiao Ye's.
Xiao Ye leaned over to take a look: "Shen Zhinian? Who's that?"
The homeroom teacher folded the letter and pushed his head away: "You don't need to know who it is, just stand properly!"
The situation suddenly shifted from being somewhat unjust to completely justified. Xiao Ye no longer had to worry about the incident reaching his little desk mate's home and causing him trouble, so he stood properly, his "oh" full of confidence.
The coach of the sports students took the envelope and slapped it in front of Qi Kang and the others: "Speak, what's going on!"
The coach's authority still scared them, knowing they couldn't escape today, they stuttered out the truth.
They had planned to plant the love letter in Xiao Ye's desk, then have someone 'accidentally' find it in public. A student involved in early romance, a toad lusting after a swan, once they exposed this, Xiao Ye would become a laughingstock, and all their grudges would be avenged.
After hearing their plan, Ji Nanxing thought to himself...
It's not that he discriminates against sports students, but these few clearly lowered the average IQ of sports students. What kind of small brain could come up with such a roundabout and possibly completely ineffective method of revenge.
Didn't they consider that even though the love letter was a setup, actually winning the beauty's heart was a real possibility, especially with Xiao Ye's face, which could easily charm anyone.
Thinking about the life-and-death grudges he often deals with, and then looking at these high school students, it really felt like adults watching three-year-olds playing house with serious faces.
Seeing the speechless expressions of the teachers in the room, Ji Nanxing whispered to Xiao Ye: "So roundabout, why not just write to the school belle in your name?"
Xiao Ye looked at the group of big lugs and sneered: "They probably wanted to catch me red-handed."
The homeroom teacher warned them with a look: "Behave." Even if they weren't at fault, the fight still needed to be addressed.
With the situation clarified, although Xiao Ye had a reason for fighting, he still needed to be educated about not resorting to violence so casually. As for Ji Nanxing, since he was just an accidental bystander, the homeroom teacher let him go to lunch.
It was already twenty minutes past noon.
Ji Nanxing glanced at Xiao Ye, planning to wait for him outside, when he saw his elder brother enter with the family assistant.
Ji Yunting first looked at his younger brother, ensuring he was completely unharmed, not even a hair out of place, then turned to the homeroom teacher: "Hello, I'm Nanxing's brother."
The homeroom teacher approached: "Mr. Ji, hello, I'm his homeroom teacher. Today's incident involved your brother, but it's been clarified, and he didn't participate in the fight."
Ji Yunting: "Involved? If you don't mind, I'd like to know how my brother got involved, who involved him, and who dragged him into this?"
Ji Yunting's presence was commanding, even just standing there exuded an undeniable aura, especially when he frowned and questioned sternly.
The coach of the sports students immediately realized this parent wasn't easy to deal with. If they were in the right, it might be manageable, but even squinting and holding their noses, they couldn't twist this situation to their advantage.
So, glaring at the troublemakers, he was about to start explaining, trying to downplay the situation.
But Ji Yunting spoke first: "Nanxing, you speak first. After you're done, I'll hear what others have to say. Since there's a conflict, we can't just listen to one side."
Ji Nanxing repeated what he had said earlier.
Ji Yunting glanced at Xiao Ye, realizing he was the one who got his brother involved, but since he arrived in time to prevent his brother from getting hurt, he decided not to hold a grudge.
After Ji Nanxing finished, Ji Yunting looked at the homeroom teacher: "Is there any discrepancy between what my brother said and the actual events?"
The homeroom teacher, completely overshadowed by Ji Yunting's presence, could only answer: "The situation is pretty much as Ji Nanxing described."
Ji Yunting nodded, pulling over a chair to sit down: "These individuals must be at least eighteen, or at least over sixteen. Since they're adults, let's handle this matter in an adult manner."
Qi Kang and the others looked at Ji Yunting, wondering what an adult manner entailed—were they going to get beaten up again?
As they puzzled over this, Ji Yunting turned to his assistant behind him: "Call the police, and get the lawyer here too."
The situation escalated instantly. The coach said: "Mr. Ji, I understand you're upset because your brother is involved, but..."
Ji Yunting cut him off: "But what? But they're still young, and since my brother seems unharmed, we should just let it go? Or have them apologize a couple of times and that's it? Is this a small matter? Today, Xiao arrived in time. If he hadn't noticed my brother was gone for so long, what would the consequences have been? My brother could have been trapped in the restroom and beaten by five adults. Coach, you might not know about my brother's health condition, but I think the homeroom teacher is well aware."
The coach looked at the homeroom teacher of Class 7, who said to him: "Ji Nanxing has a heart condition."
The coach shot another angry glare at Qi Kang and the others. Bullying someone with a heart condition—they really have no idea how they might end up dead!
Those being glared at also shrank back. They had no clue! Sure, they were reckless, but they wouldn't dare mess with someone who's got a condition, especially something this serious. They'd keep their distance, alright?
Ji Yunting glanced at everyone: "If I let this slide today, do you think they'd be grateful and stop bullying others down the line? If they were that kind of people, they wouldn't have plotted this revenge after getting beaten the last time. Since they couldn't go after the main target directly, they roped my brother into it. What, does my brother seem like a pushover? Don't tell me to sweep this under the rug. School violence is never something to take lightly."
The coach shot back, "How can you call this school violence?"
Ji Yunting: "If this doesn't qualify, then what does? Five people ganging up, dragging someone into the bathroom to intimidate and threaten them. I send my kid to school to get an education, not to be bullied for no reason. Call the cops! If they don't show up, this isn't over!"
Author's note:
School violence is never something to shrug off. If any kid goes through this, they need to be brave and speak up!
