Chapter 93 Little Mud Eel
by 李怀沙Chapter 93: Little Loach
Ling Qingjue could heal really fast, and the redness on his fingers quickly faded.
He didn't want to keep whining about it, so he awkwardly pulled his hand back, his face flushed bright red. "It doesn't hurt anymore..."
"It still looks a little red..."
"It's not red!" Ling Qingjue snapped grumpily, turning away, trying to hide his embarrassment. "That dragon isn't dead yet. I'm gonna go punch it again... Don't follow me!"
After saying this, he teleported and vanished instantly.
Meng Shu cupped his face in his hands. Ah, his face felt so hot.
He felt like they were already a thing, but since the affection level wasn't at eighty yet, neither of them could admit it.
Meng Shu was so excited he could only spin around in circles. He needed to quickly get an affection gift and give it to Ling Qingjue, so he could openly make out with his kitty.
Wait!
Wait, he was supposed to be on a mission.
Where had the princess gone? Where was the Evil Dragon?
Meng Shu was a beat late to realize. Damn it, he was supposed to rescue the princess, but he'd gotten so charmed by Ling Qingjue's hotness that he'd totally forgotten about the real task!
He snatched up his sword and dashed out of the cave.
Bang!
As soon as he reached the entrance, there was a huge crash, like the earth splitting apart.
Meng Shu nearly lost his footing. He looked up and saw that a distant mountain had been cut in half at the waist. The evil dragon crashed into it, flapping its wings desperately, only for Ling Qingjue to grab its tail and hurl it away again!
That's brutal!
Since Ling Qingjue couldn't use offensive magic, he just went with good old physical attacks.
Unfortunately, this dragon was too tanky; even after all those hits, it just wouldn't die.
And Ling Qingjue had no patience. The more he fought, the more brutal he got, to the point where he was trying to slam the dragon to death.
Meng Shu was blown away. Was this really the same Ling Qingjue he remembered—the one who would throw dramatic fits?
Wasn't he supposed to be a soft, adorable little kitten?
In the end, the evil dragon slammed into a mountain, completely out of strength. It collapsed limply to the ground and went still.
A system notification came through: "Azakara the Lunar Eclipse has been defeated."
Valeria slumped at the cave entrance, her eyes vacant, muttering over and over, "It's over... it's all over..."
Meng Shu crouched down and asked patiently, "Your Highness, can you answer our questions now?"
Ling Qingjue suddenly appeared beside him, still spotless. "Done."
"You literally slammed it to death?"
Ling Qingjue was pissed. "I slammed it so many times, but it had too much health."
"Did you get hurt?" Meng Shu circled around him, inspecting him from all sides, but couldn't see any injury.
"No." Ling Qingjue lifted his chin with a haughty air. "It can't even hurt me."
He then extended his hand, his fingers pinching a loach-like creature. "But I don't think it's actually dead. I caught this little guy."
This little thing escaped from the dragon's body when it died.
It thought that in all the confusion, Ling Qingjue wouldn't notice it.
Unfortunately, it underestimated the hunting instincts of an animal. Ling Qingjue noticed it instantly and grabbed it.
The little loach trembled between Ling Qingjue's fingers, about to cry from fright.
"Is this its true body?" Ling Qingjue shook it. "Maybe the reason it could resurrect is because it was never actually killed. It just abandoned that empty shell and fled with its real body."
The little loach, caught red-handed, drooped its head weakly.
Meng Shu leaned down to examine it. "Looks like it has little horns on its head. It's a baby dragon."
"I'll just squish it." Ling Qingjue was cold and ruthless. "That way it won't kidnap the princess again and waste our time."
The little loach let out a shriek.
And fainted from terror.
Meng Shu sucked in a breath. "Uh, maybe let's wait? Figure out what's going on?"
"Couldn't be bothered." Ling Qingjue couldn't be bothered. "Kill it, take all its treasure, and send this woman back. Then we can go home."
The princess's eyes were tearful, her voice barely a whisper. "No... please don't kill it..."
She finally understood—this black-haired, green-eyed man wasn't just handsome, but also cocky and cold-hearted.
And this knight, though he looked a bit fierce, had a good temper and was easier to talk to.
She gently tugged on Meng Shu's cloak, pleading pitifully, "Please don't kill it..."
Meng Shu bent down and helped her up from the ground, speaking gently, "It's a monster. If you don't want us to kill it, you need to give us a reason."
"It... it's actually the guardian deity of Clotant..." Valeria wiped her tears, the corners of her eyes red. "It's never actually killed anyone. It was just doing this for money."
Ling Qingjue looked down at the half-dead loach in his hand.
He sneered. "Your country's protector is this? You might as well just give up."
Valeria was about to cry again. "You take that back! Clotant will never fall!"
To be fair, it's not that the little loach is weak. It was still a world-class boss; normally, it wouldn't be defeated without a million people attacking it together.
But it was unlucky enough to run into a cheater.
And the cheater had the nerve to mock it.
What a jerk.
Meng Shu shot a weary glare at Ling Qingjue. This cat had no mercy with his mouth; the girl was bawling and he was acting blind.
No wonder he's a Berry Cat.
He searched left and right and finally found a tissue, handing it to the princess. "Um... Your Highness, here, wipe your face. Don't cry. It's not like you're dead yet, right? Oh, and the kingdom isn't destroyed either."
"Don't say that!" the princess wailed. "What exactly do you two want? You've ruined me!"
She cried even harder. "Do you know how many years I've waited for this day? The prince hasn't come yet! Why did you two commoners have to show up? I want to marry the prince!"
"You know what? The tears you're crying are just the water in your head." Ling Qingjue, annoyed by the noise, bent down and meanly shook the little loach back and forth.
He acted as if teasing a child, a wicked smirk on his lips. "If you keep crying, I'll crush it."
Valeria was so frightened that she stopped crying, instantly falling silent.
Finally, some peace and quiet.
Ling Qingjue didn't like Meng Shu getting too close to others; it made him uneasy.
Without a sound, he moved to shield Meng Shu behind him, still holding the little loach between his fingers. "Spill it. What are you and this loach plotting?"
The little loach opened its eyes weakly and said in a tiny voice, "I am not a little loach. I am the great Moonlight Dragon, the Moon-Eating Beast..."
"Shut up," Ling Qingjue said. "Who asked you?"
Meng Shu, shielded behind him, felt inexplicable restlessness surge through him, and he quickly shook his head.
Get a grip, Meng Shu! You're supposed to be on a mission!
How can your mind be full of romance?
Sure enough, falling in love changes a person and makes their IQ nosedive.
That saying is so true: people in love aren't very smart.
