Chapter 90: Do You Want a Hug?

His face flushed with a lingering blush, he averted his eyes and stammered out an explanation: "Anyway, anyway, I didn't mean to insult you."

Ling Qingjue's Adam's apple bobbed as he forced out an awkward compliment: "You may be stupid, but at least you're cuter in your stupidity than them."

How could anyone compliment like that? Meng Shu smiled helplessly, his brows curving into a smile, "You really don't know how to talk. Who taught you to compliment people like that?"

He grabbed Ling Qingjue's wrist, "I'm not angry, you don't need to humor me."

Sinister clouds and black mist swirled in the valley.

The mountain was covered in unknown silver grass, as if a layer of moonlight had been spread across the ground.

He was more focused on the Evil Dragon, staring intently at the cave, "I'm more worried about them. The Seven Kill Formation won't work, and if it tips them off..."

"If you beg me, I might consider saving them." Ling Qingjue's smile was wicked, with obvious malice, the corners of his lips tilting up.

He leaned down, his face almost pressing against Meng Shu's, their eyes meeting, "Say something nice and cheer me up."

Meng Shu looked up at him blankly, suddenly asked to compliment him, but couldn't think of anything. He just followed his heart, a little love-struck and dazed, "You're really handsome. The first time I saw you, I wanted to sleep with you."

    Ling Qingjue: "..."

He crouched down to look Meng Shu in the eye, confused, "Why can you always say such raunchy things to me? Can't you say something different?"

Meng Shu replied with an honest face, "I'm an honest person. I only ever tell the truth."

"Then do you want a hug?" Ling Qingjue looked into his dark eyes and asked out of the blue.

    Say you want a hug.

That way I'll have a reason to hug you.

Meng Shu let out a "Huh?" This time, he was too slow to pick up on the signal, tilting his head, "Hug what?"

    So dumb.

Ling Qingjue furrowed his brows slightly, his eyes deep and unfathomable, staring at him without blinking, "What do you think?"

So Meng Shu at just the right moment let himself fall into his arms, enveloped by the warm, heated body of the young man, his nose filled with the other's scent.

Ling Qingjue's broad palm naturally pressed against his back, slid up, stopped at the nape of his neck, and then pressed him tightly into his embrace.

Meng Shu's nose pressed into the hollow of Ling Qingjue's neck, not daring to move.

He was like a duck caught by the neck, with no room to resist.

Ling Qingjue loosened his grip, stroking his head in a comforting way.

"Don't look up at me. Just stay like this. Don't look at me." Ling Qingjue's voice was muffled, rough and hoarse.

Meng Shu obediently didn't look up.

"I'll figure out how to save them, but that dragon has to die." Ling Qingjue's fingers threaded through Meng Shu's hair, playing with his soft hair.

He casually touched Meng Shu's cheek and earlobe, the simple friction of skin-on-skin seemed to create static electricity.

Yet this kind of touch domineeringly forbade Meng Shu from looking at him.

If Meng Shu had been bold enough to look at him at that moment, he would have been shocked by the undisguised possessiveness on his face.

Meng Shu's face burned, and he mumbled, "But touching me like this is a little ticklish..."

"If you look at me, I won't be able to say it."

Ling Qingjue lowered his head, resting his chin on top of Meng Shu's head, as if holding a large plush toy, contentedly. "You'll make me fall for you, right?"

Meng Shu couldn't wait to look at him, "Of course I will!"

"Then you need to find a way to kill Moon-Eater Azakara. It has a treasure hoard. Once it's dead, take the treasure hoard and give it to me. That way, my affection level will rise to seventy."

His fingers slid again to the nape of Meng Shu's neck, tracing circles around the bump at the base of his neck. "Hurry up. I'm not patient."

After saying this, he finally released Meng Shu.

Meng Shu immediately looked up at him, like a child seeing something new, "Are you blushing?"

"No." Ling Qingjue turned his face away, refusing to let him see, "You're imagining things."

"You are blushing." Meng Shu said firmly.

    "...I'm not."

Meng Shu laughed softly, cupping his own face, his eyes curving, "I'm blushing too. You're so handsome. I really like you."

Ling Qingjue's ears burned even hotter, "...Oh."

So it wasn't just him who was smitten.

The two sat silently on the hilltop, neither speaking. Occasionally, their eyes met, and they had to look away immediately.

One more second of eye contact and they'd be overwhelmed.

Half an hour later, a loud boom erupted from the dragon's cave, and a dragon's roar split the sky.

Several mages were startled and quickly scattered from the center of the magic circle.

Smoke rose, and several figures rushed out of the dragon's cave. Zhang Lin was holding one person with his left hand and carrying another under his right arm, followed by several seriously injured people.

He was covered in blood and shouted, "Run!"

The Seven Kill Formation was instantly shattered, completely useless!

It had no effect at all!

The flush on Meng Shu's face quickly faded. He drew his sword and wanted to go help them, but Ling Qingjue stopped him.

"Don't go. You can't win." Ling Qingjue said bluntly, "I can't use attack magic, so I can't one-shot it. This dragon has high attack power. With your defense, if you show yourself, you'll die."

Meng Shu frowned, "Then what about the commander and the others?"

"It seems two are already gone." Ling Qingjue extended his hand, a magic circle appearing in his palm, "I'll teleport them to a safe place first."

He raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised, "Zhang Lin actually didn't abandon his fallen teammates?"

Zhang Lin was originally the fastest, but because he forcefully carried two fallen comrades, his speed dropped significantly. At the mountain pass, the evil dragon had caught up to them.

He decisively threw the two bodies out of the cave and simultaneously erected a barrier, "Everyone, run!"

His teammates had all been sent out of the cave, stumbling away in escape.

But the barrier shattered after only one second!

The ground shook and the sky quaked; even Meng Shu, standing far away, was nearly knocked over by the strange gust.

Zhang Lin had sent his teammates out but couldn't get out himself. He drew his sword and fought desperately against the Evil Dragon's attacks!

Moonbite Azakara only revealed half of his head. As soon as his silver-white dragon head appeared, even the sky darkened a few shades.

He opened his mouth and bit Zhang Lin's sword to pieces with a single crunch!

    Meng Shu gasped, "Holy crap!"

If it had been him, he'd probably be dead stiff by now.

Ling Qingjue cast Teleportation Magic on the others, sending them all to safety. Just as he was about to rescue the last person, he looked closely and saw it was Zhang Lin.

    Mid-cast, he stopped.

Meng Shu saw through his sinister intentions at once. "This isn't the time for jokes! He's about to be eaten!"

Ling Qingjue's face was cold, and he didn't say a word.

He obediently used the Teleportation Magic.

Zhang Lin, who had been fighting for his life, was suddenly teleported back to where he started. He was surrounded by teammates cheering, "Captain, you made it back alive! This must be a spell you set up in advance, right?"

    He was confused. "Me?"

He turned to look at the distant mountaintop, where two figures stood.

"It wasn't arranged by me. Let's head back first and find a healer to revive the teammates."

The team members trembled. "Then the dragon…"

Zhang Lin sighed, seeing the situation clearly: "Someone will handle it. That person has stepped in, so it's out of our hands."

No wonder Ling Qingjue insisted on coming. He knew all along that they were no match for Moonbite Azakara.

He came here to back up Meng Shu.

To let Meng Shu rescue the princess and claim the king's reward.
